Yes, but at what cost? We’ve won one battle only to have bigger losses in the next.

I also wouldn’t be surprised if the EFL pick up the 22/23 charge. From what I can tell the commission has only ruled that the PL weren’t in their right to punish us.

It definitely may prove to be a costly gamble. One of the downsides of the points deduction penalties is that each punished will be affected differently. I can see why we've tried to kick the can town the road.

Of course, while we had successfully done that we should have been getting the finances in order at the same time.

Tear it down and start again. Take our punishment, live within our means, take more relegations if we need to and rebuild again.

Sell Seagrave to King Power and rent it back until the club can buy it again.

We'll be back. We always are. And when we are we fly high and proud and bloody the noses of the clubs who have commandeered the game to work in their favour. And every so often we'll remind them that they're not the be all and end all in this game.

But for God's sake, build the statue.

Top 6, no. Top 17, possibly!

Teams coming up will be massively less likely to gamble, with the gap widening each year. Do you see any of the 3 promoted teams surviving next year? Who goes down if you do?

Kicking this can down the road was always going to bite us. I genuinely think if we’d have just played nice we’d have a -4 this season and have been able to move on.

Everything about this season was supposed to be the reset. Balance the books, clean up our act and go down in a position to start again. We’ve done the opposite with an arrogance that we can stay up and have thrown shit at the walls.

Looks very silly now

What a shambles of a club we are.

Top is totally inept, any other owner would be fumming  with the people he employs to run the club. What are the directors doing?

Any other owner would have gone ballistic that so many players ran down their contracts  and went on a free.

It's also just such a strategic mess isn't it?

Fight the PSR under technicalities and loopholes, whilst overpaying for average players. Appoint a cheap, pragmatic manager whilst also allowing player power to force him out, with no credible plan to replace him with a better manager. Bullishly fight off points deductions, after the threat of them have already affected the window, kicking the can down the road, rather than taking it during the season we were likely to go down anyway. Sign Coulibaly for £3m, don't play him - when he was available on a free this summer.

No surprise to see the smug club apologists on here crying wolf about “corruption” and the “greedy six” once again. It’s our fault, we’re controlled by fools and no marks. And that’s it.

As bad as this is, part of me can see a small silver lining that the EFL/PL are essentially coming in and forcing us to sell everyone. Even if it means cut price deals I don't care, get these charlatans out of the club. Start again on a sustainable wage budget, build the squad around youth, bring in a competent DOF like Pearson, Puel or someone else who actually have an eye for a player and a direction and isn't afraid to stand up to the club when it's needed.

If this means we go into next season with Faes, Winks, Coady, Ndidi, Ayew, BDCR, Vestergaard, Soumare, Daka and Kristiansen off the books, so be it, If it means we go into next season with a wage budget that is not 102% of our revenue, and we have to maybe settle for a mid table season before rebuilding, I would 100% take that scenario over us trying to somehow keep all of these plates spinning and getting deduction after deduction and spiralling to relegation.

Nip it in the bud NOW, fix the foundations and rebuild. If we try to keep ANY player who is earning more than 50k a week we deserve every bit of pain we get.

Try to build the squad around this: (Monga not in the database, also aware that we may have to sell El Khannouss which, if anything, would probably give us a better chance of keeping Monga)
Bench/Match day rotation: Braybrooke, Souttar, Coulibaly, Golding, Mcateer, Evans, Wanya Marcal
The missing pieces can be looking at AFFORDABLE loan players, Kroupi at Bournemouth will probably go out on loan again (striker just scored 22 in ligue 2)

Is this the most effective way to guarantee promotion again next season? Probably not, but we look like we might not have much choice but it's sustainable and at some point we have to address the issue of our board having a spending addiction.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but if we are forced to sell it will mainly be BEK/Nelson/Monga/anyone who is wanted who can produce a good profit for the books.

Theme tune for the Board.  We understand the team are crap, the Board is literally Co Co the Clown/Charlie Caroli & their mates.

Totally, embarrassingly, stupidly inept.

"They budgeted for a higher finish, budgets which chief executive Susan Whelan said were "entirely reasonable" given previous top-five finishes."

Firstly 5th twice was overperforming, secondly we knew by Oct/Nov time, they lost 6 of the first 7 games, conceding 4, 5 and 6, I'm mean come on........we were in TROUBLE

They've destroyed the club in the short to medium term.

This bollox is exhausting and giving me a headache! So we take our punishment and reset the clock. It’s us against the world as it always has been. We go again and beat the odds. I’m sure the corrupt powers that be will find a way to punish us again if get promoted. Just sick of it all.

what all the gobbledegook means in essence is if you obey the PSR rules and play within your means and work 10 times harder than the big 6 you will have the privelidge of being limited to a mid table or lower table club - period. Stay in your lane etc and don’t rock the apple cart. Sad.

Our problem wasn’t trying to compete but how we went about it. We could’ve had Eze/Bowen along with Lookman for the Perez money. Could’ve had Wharton and spare change for Soumare. I know hindsight makes it seem easy but at the time they were the highest rated championship players, and Maddison’s deal should’ve shown us the way to go. We could’ve be competing but we got in our own way, and now my least favourite part of the day is hearing news about Leicester. Much as we’d all prefer to be established in the prem, I’d take going back to early 2010’s championship us in exchange for not having this shite consistently crammed down our throats. After Chansiri we have the worst ownership in England, I’d even take the Venkys over our mess

It’s not without reason though

Wellllll, it kind of is if you like at some creative accounting of some of the other premier league clubs, Forest sold a nobody keeper last season for £25m. Chelsea there ladies team to themselves, man utd got awarded £40m covid allowance whilst rest of league got £1m, I'm sure there's many other examples

It's almost like they charge us, we evade the charges.

So they change the rules and we still evade the charges.

So they change the rules again...

Constantly out to get us while Man City and Chelsea wave their bare asses in their faces.

It's not clear, but judging from the club's statement we're not challenging the PL's jurisdiction to charge us over FY24. So presumably the legal arguments have already taken place and we've lost that one.

I’ve just been reading about it and to be fair it’s still very clear 😂😂 what a shambles. We can’t even go in to next season with a clean slate and enjoy it.

Was it the "authorities" that caused us to file our accounts late?

That’s an allegation that hasn’t been proven, and they have a history of demanding documents they didn’t have the authority to demand

I personally thought the authorities were well out of line when they forced us to spend £20m+ on Oliver Skipp for Steve Cooper, who they also made us appoint
