The massive issue for us is that we managed to get relegated in the worst possible season. Had we made the Champions League 2 seasons in a row or even once when City cheated that would have vastly made our financial situation better. Now we have been relegated the damage is huge, we will probably never get back close to the position we were in.

Especially when we are transfixed with making short term decisions like appointing shite like Cooper and signing muck such as Ayew, Skipp and BDCR.

Happened in F1 with Ferrari a few years back.  Whatever was found and decided was kept behind closed doors.

I struggle to see an out come where anything significant happens to Man City, as it will make the league look bad.

Hearing concluded in December, that we have no announcement yet is weird in itself.  Is likely manipulation going on.

That's exactly it, Drag it out until people forget what it was all about.

The Championship is absolute dross compared to the Premier League.

As bad as these players have been, they will likely look like world beaters down there. Vestergaard looked like prime Maldini last time.

That doesn't help us in the long-term with trying to stay up, but it does mean that we really should be bouncing straight back.

Vestergaard often looked awful when he had to do actual defending. The reason he looked "good" was because teams gave us far too much respect and literally let him have as much time as he wanted on the ball.

To get back to that levels of financial stability its probably reliant on something crazy e.g like Monga being the next big thing in Europe like Lamine Yamal levels and huge cash injection if he ever signs a pro contract that is.

Suggestion here that the punishment would apply next season, and minimum 12 points as the overspend is £17m (and mitigation only applies if overspend is below £15m) plus potential further punishment for aggravation - this would be very damaging:

It's behind a paywall so can't share the full copy.

Feels like having made the EPL look foolish for 22/23, they want to hammer us this time.

Just added: But Stefan Borson says this is incorrect as we were a PL team for 2 of the 3 seasons, and as PL have jurisdiction, they’d apply their rules:

How do they know the overspend (when taking all items into consideration) is 17m?

Saw this too, I've added it to my post.

Feels like mischief making by rivals/the PL directly - remember the rumours and speculation itself was heavily damaging for us in getting our top targets the previous summer.

A game not determined by who has the best XI but best lawyers…….another nail in the coffin for the beautiful game.

Let’s not have this drag out indefinitely, deal to get a reasonable penalty and move on but, Top you need to take a hard look at who is minding the shop for you and take appropriate steps to ensure this doesn’t happen again

I wonder if because we’re being charged for three years ending 23/24, the EFL will argue that we were an EFL club during that particular season and therefore should be treated under their guidelines?. I think the most relevant point is that the PL have brought the charge. I reckon we win that argument.

Just heard

Man City docked 49 points

we accepted a 3 point deduction just before it was announced

so Ipswich and us were relegated on goal difference 😜

But for the majority of the time, we were a PL club.

I know but I’m not sure re a legal argument in that direction - borson seems to think that’s worth making but I reckon the organisation that brought the charges is more relevant. New rules mean that either body can charge across but that’s not what’s being discussed here because the PL has brought them

If we've allegedly breached by £17m, that means we were on for a £60m breach if we hadn't sold KDH and got the wedge for Enzo.

I honestly don't know what our angle was to navigate this, why we'd try and get any points deduction not dealt with this season but also not try and strengthen in January to stay up is perplexing.

That's my point. The opposition in the Championship are a big drop from the Premier League, and so even players like Vestergaard look decent. I think as long as we keep hold of the core of our squad and add a striker and pair of CB's, then we should really be pushing for a top 4 finish.

Didn't the EFL say we needed to propose a business plan last season and we pretty much cried outrage at the accusation we were going to breach?

The club is rotten with incompetence

No, we said they didn’t have the authority to enforce us to propose a business plan, which was proved correct as by their own rules, they didn’t.

They do now, after the rules were created and added recently after they lost.
