Gazza3 Posted 21 May 2025 Posted 21 May 2025 I suppose this means Winks and Vesty will be staying 😤😭😫 1
Dan Posted 21 May 2025 Posted 21 May 2025 Maresca was better than Martin. He's hammered him on every meeting. 4
CWLCFC Posted 21 May 2025 Posted 21 May 2025 Meh, wouldn’t want him ideally, don’t think he’s that bad though. 1
Ricey Posted 21 May 2025 Posted 21 May 2025 It's going to be so toxic (or empty) at the King Power next season when we are on minus points and witnessing Vestergaard and Faes pass their way to a 1-0 defeat to Millwall.

Oh Martin got Southampton promoted that’s good enough I mean he doesn't but this isn't as reactionary as that, he was courting Martin while he was Swans manager, met with him a few times towards the end of the initial relegation season and prior to Martin taking the Saints job. This has been on the cards a while.

You could not get two polar opposite styles of play. Almost as opposite as Graham Potter and Steve Cooper. 2

Foxes1 Posted 21 May 2025 Posted 21 May 2025 Remember a few seasons ago when we were linked with (think it was Harry Redknapp) and we played away at Huddersfield in a night game. The away fans made their feelings known that we didn't want him at the club and the chairman at the time took notice and he didn't come in the end, we need that now but wether the board will take notice I don't think so of what the fans think.
funkyrobot Posted 21 May 2025 Posted 21 May 2025 Ruud has so blotted his copybook with that ongoing losing run featuring no goals and no creative players on the pitch that even Martin feels like a step in the right direction. Maybe he’s learned from his Saints nightmare. Playing risk ball from the keeper requires top level players and as we’ve all seen, as soon as you try doing that against better, fitter, cleverer footballers you quickly get found out - as Ramsdale, Bednarek et al discovered. If he does get appointed we won’t fully find out until the season starts but one thing’s for sure, if he selects BDCR on the wing then we know we have truly jumped out of the furnace and into the fire.

Gazza M Posted 21 May 2025 Posted 21 May 2025 Only shining light is the 25 game unbeaten run last season the Saints went on under him and ultimately promotion.I think he can do a good job for us at Championship level. 1

I think you are overestimating the Championship. Faes and Veste looked like absolute world beaters down there. I’d still get rid of both though.

An Away Move Posted 21 May 2025 Posted 21 May 2025 In the words of Amy Winehouse, ‘What kind of ****ery is this?’ 🤦🏻♂️

Sankey93 Posted 21 May 2025 Posted 21 May 2025 Don’t get me wrong I’d rather have Still, Rohl and a few others on there that have been mentioned but reality is our owner loves tippy tappy possession based football and RM is the best available at it and especially for the championship with the players we already have! i personally think it will work seems a good bloke come across well in the media and will have a point to prove! Maybe wrong but I’m sure all the Southampton players adored him? No afraid to play youth either!
kingfox Posted 21 May 2025 Posted 21 May 2025 Who’s up for two inverted full-backs instead of one 🤔 In the high build-up, Martin’s Southampton sets up in a 1-2-3-5 formation, inverting the fullbacks and pushing a holding midfielder up as an attacking midfielder. 1
Jazzy_Jeff Posted 21 May 2025 Posted 21 May 2025 Football is all about opinions. My opinion on RM is that his style of football is better suited to the players we have than what he had at Saints. If he came in from day 1 of pre-season he could make it work. Also, he has both promoted and signed youth there. This is what we are crying out for. Managers don’t get it right at every club they’re at. So far he’s 2/3. 2

CrispinLA in Texas Posted 21 May 2025 Posted 21 May 2025 If we want an ex Southampton manager....as someone said we should go with Hassenhuttl 2
