Looking on the replays it’s a really harsh penalty and another reason why I really hate the “refs call” because they simply just won’t turn them over. To be fair to the ref I think he acted on assistance from his lino. 
 

But Tarkowski has tried to move his arm out of the way and I also think it’s high enough up to be considered on the shirt line. Everton will be fuming I’m sure.

If you lean into the ball to block it with your arm, it's always been a penalty and always should be.

Leeds got the best of it not getting promoted the season we did. Some teams look a lot poorer on paper this season and they seem a lot more solid as a squad with an extra championship season under their belt.

Exactly why handball can be impossible to rule, so many differing opinions. I've said for years, unless it's obvious deliberate, indirect free kick and not a penalty.

And also, given Everton had the ball on the edge of the Leeds box and for some reason played it all the way back and messed it up... it's hard to have any sympathy.

Never a penalty for me. His body has gone to block the shot and is leaning into it, his arm is tucked in well inside his body/natural body shape. What else can he do? Not block it? Stick his arms out and make it a blatant handball?

If they get a decent striker Leeds should be OK.

Choosing who you would rather win out of Leeds and Everton is like being asked if you'd rather shag your Mum or your Gran.

There are absolutely worse teams than Sunderland and Leeds in this division, it's a long season ahead but honestly on first showings I can see them both at least making a good go of survival.

Just heaps further shame on us and the way we've fallen, I think a lot of us were using the (very new) concept of an unbridgable gap between the Championship and Prem as a comfort blanket rather than accepting that it might have been piss-poor management and individual attitudes that made relegation inevitable.

The handball rules have been unfit for purpose for a long time now. 

 

You may as well just tell the ref and VAR to stand down and then just flip a coin and go with that. You'll get the same accuracy.
