Right now there's a good chance Starmer is going to look a lot like Harold Wilson who (under a lot of pressure from LBJ) refused to send our troops into Vietnam. 

 

The fact that Rubio is on TV backtracking about what he said yesterday - and basically admitting they have no current plan on how to evacuate American's from the region shows they haven't planned this very well.

 

And the US consulate in Dubai has just been bombed by a drone.

Yesterday was amazing, he went from talking about the American losses and how tragic their deaths are, to talking about the curtains at the White House and telling everyone how well the renovations are coming along.

I doubt he does care about the loss of life. But he probably cares if it makes him look weak. He changes his mind from one moment to the next entirely on how he's being viewed on US news channels like Fox News.

Good news - the Type 45 destroyer is an amazing ship with cutting edge tech to shoot down ballistic missiles.  The bad news, we only bought 6, 3 are in refurbishment and the others are in the wrong place. 1 is ready and on the way and will arrive off Cyprus in a week.  Utter incompetence..

Yup should've moved it towards eastern med/gulf 2 weeks ago but somehow we didn't have the hindsight to do it.

 

Part of the issue is definitely our hollowed out Navy and armed forces so the equipment and forces we have is really top stuff but spread way to thin. Something something too little investment in last 20 years (I feel like almost every quite major issue this country has stems back to underinvestment to varying degrees)

Hypocrisy and double standards come as easily to that administration as breathing. That much has been obvious for a while. 

 

They don't care. They have absolutely zero sense of shame. The only thing that matters to them is power, and using it against those they deem "other" to maintain it. 

 

The only thing that can be done is the decent Americans (such as there are) neutralise their political power. As soon as is possible.

Starmer should treat Trump's latest comments as a badge of honour. Genuinely, if Trump is praising you, you're almost certainly getting something wrong.

 

The war is clearly illegal under international law. The pretext changes on an hourly basis. There's obviously no plan for what comes next. By those tests alone (and leaving aside any ethical considerations which IMO are even more important) it is *obviously* correct to stay out of it. 

 

History won't be kind to the current US administration.
