So he's quitting before he gets found guilty.

Then re-standing.  Wtf?

Genuinely baffling. Doesn't make the scrutiny go away does it? Same questions will be asked if he's reelected lol

Could he seek re election in Clacton as vote of confidence from the ordinary folk vs establishment?

Got the lottery numbers?

Total willy puller - he's done no wrongdoing and he's not misused public money but he's decided to cost the taxpayer a significant sum of money in doing a by-election he's standing in. Distraction technique as the Reform show continually runs out of fuel.

Is there some statute of limitations or parliamentary standards scrutiny he'll avoid by resigning and then being re-elected in 2026 as opposed to his current term?

If not, what an absolute drama queen

EDIT: Would love it if the other parties didn't play his game and didn't bother standing against him.

Eh? He's going to resign from his job, then stand again for the same job? What?

Pretty clear he's going to win and probably increase his vote share. If candidates from the other main parties stand, then he'll point and laugh at their feeble vote share. If they don't bother standing he'll have a ready made speech about the establishment turning their back on democracy etc etc

Restore will probably take a few votes off him if they stand, but I agree it's unlikely any of the others will get close. What a load of shite that speech was

Labour, LDs and Greens should unite behind 1 candidate, preferably a Martin Bell-type figure.

I imagine they won't field any candidates to rob it of any legitimacy.

As ever it is vintage Farage all about himself; the moment there is any real scrutiny on his affairs and he presses the self destruct button. By elections cost a lot of money.

Tories and Labour should get together and not stand against him to ruin his scheme.

Well, now everyone's clear that it's all going to be a pointless and expensive publicity stunt, how about everyone giving it absolutely zero publicity, as it deserves?

Farage and his PLC have been permitted to manipulate the media for their own malicious gain for too long as it is.

Then they can ask Farage how many potholes could have been mended with the public money spent on the by-election 😃
