I liked the cut of Kingy's jib before the game as well. He spoke excellently about the first week of training. I'm not saying he should have the job or even that he will be a future Leicester manager, but he simply has to remain involved to some extent. He's not only a club legend but a consummate professional. His achievements with this club also demand respect from any player who puts on the shirt. Maybe one day he'll get a chance in the hot seat, maybe he'll have to go away again to be able to come back and get that chance, but right now he needs to be a real part of the new manager's backroom staff, whoever that may be.

Totally agree. I think his tactical nous maybe underrated. Although he was an unassuming and quiet player,  he had an intelligence about football. You don’t necessarily have to bawl  players out and throw teacups to be a good manager. I would think his manner and record at City is enough to command respect.

Is Page rated that highly? Not really heard much about him until now.

Yes, despite how good Monga and Evans are, he's the only one out the three getting in for England U17s currently.

I didn’t really think page stood out  for his passing/ dribbling but being in the right place at the right time and finishing well was great. Reminded me a bit of Andy King,  actually..

A 10?

Do you mean a CF?

A 10 generally refers to a player that plays behind the striker like a CAM if you like.

To me it was his physicality, looked really at home in men’s football

People will scoff at it, but his reading of the game was absolutely top drawer. Just a lack of physically and probably a selfishness that stopped him going to the very top.

He'll be an excellent coach. Will he be ruthless enough to be a good manager? Not sure but he is an absolute must to keep around.

I think it probably does bode well for his coaching career (to an extent, I know there are a lot of things that determine whether a coach is good or not) that he made it essentially to the very top of the game without being hugely gifted either physically or technically. Must be pretty difficult for a player like that to win three league titles including the Premier League, play in the Champions League and win 50 international caps without a combination of intelligence and lots of hard work.

Page is unreal. So calm and collected on the ball….. he is major talent. Bellingham vibes.

Thought this. Exciting talent

I actually thought Lampard when I was watching the game. Right place, right time.

Joseph's absolutely rapid.

Gave their defence a yard and beat them by 2 yards over 10.

It's clear the youngsters are the way to go for us now with the old guard looking shite even on that low level outing.

One of my favourite ever players, the one thing this glorious era we've had on and off since the 90's is an iconic ex player of ours to become a successful manager with us. Would be class.

GEH IT KINGY

I'm much happier with Kingy at the helm than either Cooper or RVFN

He exudes class and respect

I am absolutely dreading Ayew and Cordova Reid coming back into the mix. They have no place in this squad of exciting high energy wingers, much rather even our B tier academy wingers like Joseph, Wanya or even Josh King get minutes instead.

Not to mention the horrors of them stealing minutes from our best talents like Monga, Evans and Alves purely on the basis of 'experience'.

Same goes for Skipp and Winks (and sadly Ndidi) vs Page or even Baybrooke and Cartwright who didn't play the other day.

I thought Winks' body language and input was poor yesterday - especially from a senior pro and what he is capable of .

Skipp showed one moment of class and the rest of the time I thought he was off it too

Sourmare only ever wants to play a cameo role even when he's the main player in centre mid.

The future is definitely the yuff and the deadwoods' agents' should be brought in and told they need to find new clubs for their players

Easier said than done but it's about time we get tough with some of these ****ers

From what I saw of it, the likes of Winks and Soumare played the game to conserve energy and not get injured yet you saw the youth players go out and seize their chance.

Id say it’s unlikely we end up with 3/4 youth players in the starting 11 come the start of the season but the two above, plus a number of the others not in the squad, need to be ****ed off however that happens.

Nelson, Aluko, Alves, Page, Monga and Evans. There's others too not far behind.

Nelson, Monga and Alves are ready. Aluko could feature in the squad but the others aren't ready.

We're not going to fill the first team full of 16 year olds.

Yesterday was so nice. No Faes, BDCR, Ayew etc. Skipp looked atrocious, but as a whole I’d much rather see those 22 in our first team, even if it meant finishing mid table

I see a lot of references to Nelson alongside the youth stars, but he is muct further along in his development. Nelson and Okoli should be our first choice centre back pairing. Alves is a reserve winger or 10. The others should be given minutes to develop and encourage them where possible, with the occassional start.

As bleak as things look, one thing we seem to have got right is the academy. Some of the lads were bringing through look extremely promising. The type of lads who are probably ready to step up. Particularly Aluko, Monga and hopefully Evans. But Joseph looks excellent too, and Page…… he looked brilliant. I know we can’t get carried away but a 16 year old lad to have that kind of composure in a senior game was very impressive.
