Well the good news for those of you not sold on Marti is that it’s looking increasingly likely that Russell Martin will be available to replace him!

Enzo won the first 4. But did lose the last game before international break against Hull.Β

I was thinking about those 4 games after the win yesterday. Coventry, Huddersfield, Cardiff, Rotherham. Performance wise, nothing special, three 2-1 wins, late goals and a fair few chances given away.Β
Β

it was after the international break, and after the window closed that the team started to click, it’s far too early to judge Marti yet and I’m shocked (but not surprised) by some of the posts on here. There’s a lot to be angry at the club for, but aiming that at Marti in anyway is massively short sighted

Preach. Do not argue with Big Nige. He is right as per normal

You laugh but says all you need to know about Skipp

They’re both absolute cack atm but Skipp has done more in his 13 months than Soumare has for the previous 4 years.Β
Β

The very least we can demand of the players is work rate and only one of Skipp and Booby provide that consistently.Β

I don't dislike either.Β  They're just not very good.

I do feel Soumare could be good IF you had a CDM destroyer next to him that basically talks him through the game. At Lille he wasn't the CDM he was paired with Benjamin Andre, the older seasoned CDM and captain of the side.Β  The lad switches off constantly so I think he literally needs telling every 2 minutes what he's supposed to do.Β  It'd explain why he looks good in training vs a match too.Β  He can constantly be fed and follow instruction.

Can't do that in a game from the sidelines though.

Β

And even though he's marginally better than Our bush Kangaroo, with a year left, I'd sooner see the back of Bouba.

Β

Poor old Marti has the choice of eating dog shit or cat shit...

I disagree, we never flood the box. There is no movement for the midfielders.Β  Β We play the static pep way, with our wingers being the attacking outlet.

I'm not sure what you're disagreeing with Dr...

Bollox Skipp is shocking, Soumare is a better player as proven by the stats.

Β

You just have a massive dislike for Soumare and can't get over it.

Correct, I do.

Β

Hes a waste man and comfortably one of our worst ever signings.

Β

Lazy, not a ball winner, not particularly creative.

Β

Waste of money.Β

I’ve been calmly, and rationally reflecting today. Starting with a coffee and a very big almond croissant. I’m sure @ClaphamFoxΒ will appreciate this.Β

But in my reflections, I’ve come to the conclusion I really like Marti, and I think he’s exactly the type of guy we need at the moment. Last relegation was different, Enzo was exactly what we needed then, and Martinis now.Β
Β

We’ve had two poor choices since Enzo. Cooper was too soft, he didn’t have a grip on the dressing room, and I think he was too β€œhappy to be here”.

Β

Ruud was just a useless tosser, looked good in a roll neck but hadn’t got a scooby.Β
Β

Β

Marti appears to have a grip of the dressing room…..

Β

He’s kept the want away players on the periphery of the squad, which is ideal, because if they leave we’re already used to not relying on them, and if they stay they can be reintegrated into the team.Β
Β

He’s a calm man, he doesn’t get lost in the hysteria and is clearly focused on his job….

Β

He’s promoting youth players and isn’t scared of playing them, which we have all been moaning about for ages haven’t we @Ric Flair

Β

In a huge fan already, he’s been dealt a shit hand really coming here, but he clearly doesn’t care and just wants to get on with the job. I get the impression he wants to prove himself, rather than just be happy to be here, or have a massive fallout with Winks.Β
Β

Β

We’re in safe hands, and I just hope we keep him if this season is a damp squib, because we need consistency to rebuild.

Who told you about my penchant for almond croissants?Β

I wouldn’t pay too much notice. It’ll be people who didn’t want him as they either thought we should aim higher or wanted Dyche.

Β

Because they didn’t want him they are now desperate for him to fail to say I told you so.

Β

I can’t imagine that anyone going in actively wanting him or at least open minded about the appointment would be getting on his back already.

You could post this in the Skipp thread and no one would question it, Soumare has been a terrible signing but he's has at times given us all false hope he's going to kick on, the most encouraging thing we've ever seen from Skipp is a 5 yard sideways pass.

A post with not a swearword in sight! The bank holiday has changed youΒ :P

Β

But I completely agree with you and Marti needs to be shown that we back him, even though for now it might not be pretty. It seems he has a group of players on board and to a certain extent has got control of Winks who does put a shift in on the pitch, he's just grumpy after.

Β

Charlton game wasn't pretty, but at least it showed some determination to keep them out and when Okoli and Vesty celebrated okolis block, that was good to see. There is starting to be some passion.Β

Β

I'm hoping that we can give him time, so far I like him.Β

They may want to sort out the PSR mess to stop the cycle and I get the impression Marti was told this, but I can imagine he was told he would have time to rebuild a squad in his image and get some players to play his system, but not right away.Β

Β

Hopefully that's right, but I wish the club would communicate that with us a bit moreΒ

This seems a reasonable and sensible conclusion to me! If the club said we need to clean up the mess, but you will be the guy to β€œset the table” once clear, then maybe there is a serious plan. (Oh such self delusion, but I like it!Β lolΒ )

Vests wasn't celebrating Okoli's block he was screaming bloody mary at Fatawu who inexplicably just stood like a statue when the ball was cleared and allowed theΒ  Charlton player to nick the ball off him like taking candy from a baby that nearly cost us 2 points! Good on Vesty for that (and Okoli for the block)

The brutal truth and the most worrying thing for me is, Marti has been outcoached and tactically outclassed in every game so far. We’ve won our two games from a moment of brilliance from a premier league player and the opposition going down to ten men.
Β

I wasn’t enamoured when we announced Marti, mainly due to his past record or lack of to be blunt. He’s hardly pulled up any trees in his career thus far and he seemed to be dining off the fact that he grew up watching Cruyff’s Barcelona.

Β

I was definitely won over by his fantastic grasp of English for a foreigner in his interviews and he comes across as a very confident, articulate and positive person which made me instantly warm to him.

Β

From what I’ve seen thus this far, he’s not a very good coach/manager and my initial fear when studying into his background has been realised. As has been mentioned before, I even think Ruud is a better manager.

Β

I still think we should’ve gone for Mark Robins, but as he’s not got a fancy foreign name, he would’ve been on an uphill battle with our fans from the start.

Oh of course, the last bloke with a fancy foreign name was really popularΒ
