Evans may have the potential but clearly he isn't quite at the level yet to be properly threatening to start for us like Monga and Page are

That's a matter of opinion. I think he's ready to break through this season and wouldnt want to see a new striker hinder that possibility.

Top would be so dumb to not invest now in a handful of players for Marti.

Still early days, but he is getting wins with one hand tied behind his back.

Give him a Striker, CM and couple of others, and we could give Promotion a real go this season.

Thing is - you can’t overdo it either.

He’s got buy in from the players already here, so it’s about supplementing them.

Ironically - our biggest transfer might be who we keep, i.e.Bilal / Winks.

If they were to stay and play in the right attitude… I think that would make such a difference to our attacking threat, that we’d only then really need a proper striker to play off.

He's been given fxxk all in the market.  He's having to deal with our more talented midfielders (arguably defender too) having strops and ruling themselves out.  We've got gaping holes in the squad and starting 11.  And we're winning games.

I don't think his tactics are coming across particularly at the moment, but we're getting results, keeping clean sheets now and given we're doing that whilst not playing all that well in addition to the possibility we might get him some help with a few new signings, it's a positive start with a lot more to come.

Better than Ayew and Daka

I think we would've at least seen a cameo appearance by now if that was the case with how he is viewed by Martí, and yet has hasn't even made the bench

Unfortunately we desperately need a proper striker who we can rely on to be starting every game for us and that isn't going to be Evans this season and we cannot persist with our options being Ayew and Daka

If he is good enough he will get his chance, Martí has shown he is very willing to give youth a go so far

Whilst the squad has not been refreshed, they are all new signings to him. It’s not like they have grown complacent to his tactical ways like managers experience after a few seasons and need to freshen it up.

There are talented players and youngsters coming through, if people are expecting huge upturns in performance by one or two new signings they may be disappointed.

Talented players come  on half the players are shit the other half don’t want to be here or are being sold for PSR reason.

It's worth keeping in mind how new signings impact the progression of the youngsters.

New left back and Aluko is further away from breaking through, new CAM and Page and Alves struggle to get minutes, new striker and Evans doesnt get a chance, new left wing (Solomon) and Monga doesnt get off the bench.

New signings are not always a positive, as seen with most of our current squad. Sometimes it's better to develop what you already have.

I hear you, but it is criminally unfair and unrealistic for the club to expect to be carried on the back of 16 and 17 year olds. It's a 46 game season, Saturday-Tuesday many a week. They're going to need support. And hell, someone to learn from too at times.

Did anyone catch his post-match interview? My errrr perfectly legal way of watching the match cut out just before.

Anyway, keep it up Marti. It's good to see some fight and defensive stability back in this team. And the subs? They just make sense.

Marti just confirmed on BBC RL that BEK was left out due to a few things going on but he likes him as a player and will be important for us if he stays. Expecting quite a lot of player movement by Monday.

Shit players are subjective, it’s the Championship other teams are not filled with quality and can bring players on from the bench that cost over £45m then add to that a talent like monga

Would you expect him to say anything else regarding BEK, also on Sky when pressed on any incoming transfers he made reference to the academy

Every time he optimistically gives it the “Jon and the boys are working hard on signings” a little bit of me wants to hug him. Like Robin Williams hugs Matt Damon at the end of Good Will Hunting… “it’s not your fault”.

He definitely added some resolve to the team, and i think thats great.

However in today's game, he chose to play from the back etc and it did t work.  I could see, those around me could see, there full backs were so high up, Mavs pushes 10 yards forward, a simple  position to counter attack would have killed this game instead.

Got it right tonight, was very happy with how we played

Defended well and hit them in the counter, considering their forward line is quite good you have to appreciated how we were set up

You're overthinking it, we was fine.. 2-0 win enjoy it.

I think people are expecting us to play some kind of luxury football 4 games into the season with a new manager and no signings and players throwing a wobbly, this is where we at.. the team are fighting and playing together that's the main thing.

Actually personally thought we went a bit more direct tonight than we have under him previously. First pass or two went short then we very much looked to go long once we’d enticed them in - not the most accurately admittedly.

My friend, it didnt, every goal kick was still played from the back.  The direct play was because they pressed  us.

Im drinking quality whisky and draft ipa and loads of well cooked punjabi food.  But what life has taught me, do not accept mediocrity and always critique yourself.

We looked organised and well coached / drilled tonight. We changed approach but was compact and pressed so well too. You can see the impact he’s having already, the players looked together and were fighting for the badge again which is encouraging!

One of the biggest problems I had in the first few games, was not the ability, but the work rate of the team. Marti has completely changed that, and every player was working tirelessly for each other. The signs are good Marti is going to build a team with a great attitude.
