I've made peace with it if those around him can press relentlessly and he does his bit holding the ball up and finding space to score regularly.

It's not what I'd want long term ambition i really hope we sign a more complete forward who is quick, presses well, holds the ball up and is a handy finisher. However, central midfield for me is the priority, it honks.

Mavididi and Fatawu looked so fit and fast against Fiorentina that it did give me some hope.

Ayew could be like our ALDI Bobby Firmino, doing the grunt work and holding the ball up for the two on running.

They scored 18 between them in the Championship last time, though, so that'll have to improve if we don't have a striker kicking in much.

I think that's more than possible. Two years ago Fatawu was very raw and often wasteful. His shooting improved during that season, but I was really impressed with his deft touch and then composed shot for his goal yesterday. Another sign of maturity?

And me, they’re a good set of fans, never met a Wednesday fan that I haven’t had a good chat about football with. It’s a crying shame to see what’s happening to frankly, a great club.

They are a good set but can also be deluded.

Growing up in the area was terrible for me as most of my school mates supported Wednesday. We always used to be in relegation battles with them, until eventually it was us that went down. I took so much "banter" lol

Not only the 1-3 defeat but the 1-4 defeat (where Brunt or Whelan scored two screamers I think). Awful times for both of our clubs. Always pains me we never seem to turn up at Hillsborough!

No feeling towards them though (as long as we're above them of course). Historic club and well followed as well (in fact, both professional Sheffield clubs are).

But of course both our trajectories changed and they haven't been a top flight club since 2000 which is crazy really. Growing up in early "Premier League" years they seemed like a staple of the division.

These were my thoughts too - I'm softening on Ayew after what I saw yesterday.

It would be nice to get a more mobile striker in with a higher ceiling etc etc - But I think Ayew could do quite well this season.

Trying to predict the line up for Shef wed game, is this what we're going to be looking at?

Stolarczyk

JJ Vesty Okoli Thomas

2 of Soumare Winks Skipp

Fatawu Monga Mavadidi

Ayew

If Ricardo is fit he goes in RB, JJ moves to Left back.

Would like to see Nelson and other youths.

The above assuming Mads,VK,Faes, ndidi and Bilal all leave.

I think the system stymied the wingers in 23/24. Fatawu specially didn't end up in the box much. Mavididi scored more when we had a bit more space, after game 29 he scored 3 goals and Fatawu just didn't really score bar against Woke Martin's idiocy.

The wingers seem like they have a lot more freedom under Cifuentes so ideally we see them both much closer to goal - although I suspect Fatawu will always be like a 1 in 4 sort of player, he does tend to play a bit deeply for a modern inverted winger.

If insurance isn't in place still I can't see how they agree to play on Sunday? Especially reading that last paragraph.

That honestly reads like the players are going to refuse to play on Sunday if they aren't paid in full moving forward, either that or they'll kick off and then walk off the pitch and refuse to play the game in full

It seems like a lot of their fans are requesting refunds for their season tickets as well, which are being denied by the club

Reads to me the complete opposite.

They'll be playing on Sunday.

Reading some of the comments from Lyon fans it sounds like this is an owner they really dont want. Worst than what they already have?

I really don't understand where you are getting that from, the last paragraph literally reads as "to avoid us refusing to play again the club need to pay us and all the staff"
