It’s time for him to go been a great servant for the club. Let’s get this over the line and move on a few more.

I'd love to think the positive comments posted somehow reach Wilf, even if in just anecdotal form.

I've really enjoyed his contribution for nine seasons. Great service, great servant to the club.

He leaves with the warmest of wishes and some tremendous memories.

Thanks Wilf.

Pretty sure there was a similar article to this for Akgün a day or two before we announced he'd signed. They tend to do it when it's all done bar minor details.

So we'll announce his left next Friday then.

I know it’s a different  club, but I wonder if he’s seen the video of when Darius  vassell in the twilight of his career  rocks on up to a Turkish  airport and is absolutely MOBBED by a rabid crowd after signing for their team

found it lol

Great servant, and will be missed, but time to move on. He's given us some good memories.

Thanks Wilf, no hard feelings at all and thank you. End of another era.

He was good for us from when he joined to 2021 and he was good in the championship last time around as well.

Looking back in 20-30 odd years we won't have had many players (If any) who performed well for us for 5 years straight at a Premier League level including good performances in the champions league knockouts and an FA cup win.

I personally see him as a legend due to the way he embraced the club on top of his performances but understand that most won't agree. I think he will be looked upon a lot more fondly in a few years time as his declined version (2022-2025) becomes the normal level for our midfielders.

I would say he makes it into the legendary category too.

When he got going, often in the 2nd half in home games from 2018 / 2021 we were almost unbeatable as he just covered the whole midfield line

An exceptional player and a huge impact on our success.

Good luck to Wilf and I'll be giving him a standing ovation if / when he comes back and sees us.

I’ve said this before and there is a lot more to our decline than this. But when Wilf started getting injuries (1st injury was 2020 just before the LC Semi) and lost some form in 2021 is when we declined and becoming easier to play against.

Been great overall for us, wish him the best.

Three, four years ago, I'd have been much more sad about Ndidi changing clubs. He was a dynamic, athletic, fast, tenacious defensive midfielder in his early days with us.

People are fast to forget that he was part of a team of champions when he joined.

And despite all the positive attributes, to me, he'll always be remembered for the player who gave the ball away. Constantly. His tackling skills are (or were) impressive, but he had to make up a lot of times for giving the ball away himself, stifling attacks in the process.

Then, during the 2019/2020 season, injuries started to take their toll.

The reign of the old guard had to end at one point. Goodbye, Wilfred. Maybe you can resurrect your ailing career in Istanbul, I wish you the best.

Yes, I agree he was a top defensive midfielder when he was in form, but my favourite Wilf period was when Enzo played him as an attacking midfielder and he put on the Wilf show.

For a couple of games, I thought Maresca had performed alchemy.

Also going to miss his regulation wild shot from outside the box that never went in, just before half time in most games.

Go well, sweet Wilfred.

Injuries and the club's overall decline have really done Ndidi and Ricardo a disservice. I don't think anyone believes you when you try to explain just how good they were at that time. Ricardo especially wouldn't have looked out of place playing for any side in the world during that period.

Honestly thought Ricardo would end up at Barcelona. Had no weaknesses, good defensively, excellent going forward. It's great to still have him here and he's still our best player when fit, but sad to see what injuries have done to him.

As for Wilf- he's been superb for us, one of our best ever midfielders, but the time is right. He needs a new challenge, we need to start again and rebuild. All the best to him, I'll be keeping an eye on Besiktas this season now.

Superb servant to us but as with everything it’s time for a fresh start for all parties, importantly the fee and removal of his wages will give us some PSR leeway and hopefully enable us to start refreshing our squad for a new era.

Quite sad to see him go!

Always remember watching from the stands, seeing us lose the ball and saying "Dont worry, Wilf will get it back". And he did, constantly.

Does anyone know if he took the ball with him?
