jonny_wright Posted 16 February Posted 16 February I’m under no illusions that he will do quite well this season, keep us up then get offered a 3 year deal in the summer only to be sacked in September when we’re awful again

The view locally is that he was sacked because he stood up to the owners. I live here too and this is the view I get from the sensible Oxford fans I know. We should set up an Oxford Chisits society. Let's be miserable together. 3

In a realistic scenario Rudkin would be slapping Top and telling him ' you jumped up little slug, no we can't convince Enzo to come back and promote this year' but no our frustrating reality is we dithered and continued to go for a name and style of play, one who wasn't keeping us up, while all along the only realistic option was the uninspiring ex player who we would never give a second look a few years ago. I am not particularly excited but I'm just glad they finally made a decision for a bloke that will, I am sure of it, kick arses into gear and understand how important it is to the fans to apply 100% effort. All I ask is don't go down without a fight. 2

Popular Post GlenParvaFox Posted 16 February Popular Post Posted 16 February I've said it before on here, and I can't really explain why, but i have always liked Gary Rowett. 6

He's gained a title of a firefighter. Let's hope he keeps us up, gets paid decently and we can all move on.

What other club takes 3-4 weeks to hire an interim or permanent manager after sacking the previous one, mid-season? Just further emphasises the club have no plan and they're just seemingly winging it. In saying that, I'm actually satisfied we've hired someone that may actually kick some of these players arses and demand 100%. Rowett doesn't strike me as someone to take any shit and he will happily put himself about if standards aren't high or maintained. I've got some level of confidence (a couple of iotas now...) that we can be somewhat competitive and actually have some organisation about us. It may not be perfect but at least we have something to get behind. I'm not so underwhelmed as others because it was never going to be anyone special in our predicament Top and Co have put us in. It's something, and that's what I'll cling on to! 6
Mickyblueeyes Posted 16 February Posted 16 February Where we are etc. im ok with Rowett. I’m not ok that it took us 3 weeks and 4(?) games to get him. 2

It’s worth noting that he got sacked in his second season there. In his first season he came in midway through the season replacing Des Buckingham and here’s his record from 20th Dec until the end of last season Games: 25 9 wins 8 draws 8 losses Other noticeable stat: 9 clean sheets There’s obviously the reality that he had L1 players with a point to prove instead of our prima-donna’s but if he gets into them and manages to make us harder to beat ( not difficult from where we’re at currently) then short term he could be an option! Bit of background info that I raised about his Oxford record when there were initial links, the big question will be can he get a tune of our mercenaries. Good luck Gary!
Katy Posted 16 February Posted 16 February It just shows that these pair never learn from their mistakes and never will. We’ve wasted vital games again, just like we did when we went down from the prem the first time. That being said, I don’t mind Gary Rowett at all but ffs, get there quicker you useless twats! 2

We’re struggling to field 2 competent/fit centre halves and so naturally you want to add an extra one in the mix - and completely misplace our 2nd top scorer in the process.

I just meant someone who understands the need to change formation and try something different. Not necessarily that exact formation 👍
