Treat like Starc Bumrah , see him off and then attack the weaker bowlers

The only batters who can feel hard done by were Root, Pope and Brook

In fairness, Australia were probably saying the same lol

Not sure if it's just confirmation bias and I've never claimed to be the biggest follower of cricket but it does feel like there's been far more absolutely wildly swinging scores in cricket over the last decade or so. One side having an extreme batting collapse, everyone laughing/panicking (depending on their allegiance) and then the opposing side following up exactly the same.

Bowling attacks at test level seem to be more boom-or-bust than they used to be? But maybe it's my imagination.

The bowling level, at least the pace the seamers are sending down the wicket are getting quicker. But you’re right, there’s no middle it either goes well or you’re on the end of a hiding.

Gut feeling is that Australia will still be chasing less than 220 to win

That's entirely possible given what's happened so far.

Question is, what target would England feel comfortable defending here? I would say 250 is about the 50/50 point and 300 should be easily defendable given the situation.

If we want to defend a target and keeping this level of intensity, we need to give our bowlers a decent period of rest in between innings. Given the injury record of Archer, Wood and Stokes, we can't afford 30-50 over slog fest.

Australia are there for the taking this test, if we get our next innings right. Their bowling attack for this test is weaker than ours and so is there batting. Great opportunity to go 1 nil up.

The commentators are appalling, I never thought I'd say this but I'd sooner listen to the Aussie commentary. What I'd give for Hussain & Atherton for their excellent insight

Got a rugby and cycling commentator doing them which probably says it all .

Said it in the summer but Carse has been a fantastic pick up for this England side.

Exactly what we needed. Love his aggression and work rate.

Batting will be a whole lot easier tomorrow for both, it's whether our bowling attack can carry on turning up the heat. Certainly feels in this test they've got one bowling threat and we've got 2/3.

City should sign him up !

Totally agree. I've said it before, but l reckon he's going to have a really good Series.

Side note, if I was staying up all night to watch this series live I'd be switching over to a VPN/Firestick in an instant. TNT are the pits.

Went as I expected, just on fast forward. Batting very suspect, bowling excellent.

Still very much in the balance. Need to keep the lead then bat properly. Haven't followed it too closely with sleep and work in the way but why are they around 15 overs down?
