I respect Call The Midwife as a well made, cosy, warming drama with some nice sentiments but its schedule placing is all wrong. After consuming 3 days worth of food in 10 hours and 2 bottles of Cava, the pace of it guarantees you keep dozing off, coming round and wondering why the story seems so disjointed. I don’t want anything too hyper / manic or in your face at that time but some semblance of rhythm and momentum helps to keep people lucid. Boxing Day afternoon, Christmas Eve Evening but not Christmas Day night.

I’ll be piecing together my own schedule, over 60% of it DVD’s / Blu Rays, old favourites and a recent film I haven’t seen yet and look forward to, last year Wonka, this year maybe the Naked Gun remake.

Dig deeper on the other channels, Talking Pictures, That’s TV, ITV 3/4 etc and you can salvage something but frustrating that you have to spend considerable time looking around because the main channels are so bland / poor.

Babestation on Christmas day is surely pre recorded or repeats? I'd watch that, Babestation Classic with a cheeseboard and a port. Tiffany Chambers in her mid 00s pomp

Thought you'd be team Lolly Badcock?

I always thought Santa was a socialist?

He's minister of agriculture in Communist Russia - likes red, makes up outlandish claims about productivity (whole world in one night!), ensures you have no carrots in your house

Really is sad to see how much in the bin comedy is in this country

Our panel shows are world class. Sitcoms on the other hand died a long time ago.

I've never ever met anyone in my life who watches - or doesn't hate - Mrs. Brown's Boys.

I've no idea what demographic of people keep tuning in to warrant this garbage returning every year.

Shame there's no new Wallace and Gromit this year.

Takes them about a year to make 1 minute's footage, though, so understandable.

They just don't miss do they when they make one, will be watching re-runs over Christmas

That skiing fridge scared the Sh*t out of me when i was younger

When's spartacus on. Joking aside, how do people find time for the telly on christmas day?.

As I don't drink and no one ever did the pub thing from when I turned 15  18, the TV is usually on in the background most of the day up until King's Speech then it's usually off as then all the shite came on such as what felt like 8 hours of Strictly and Call the Midwife. BBC1 phoning it in this year by sticking the Gavin and Stacey finale on again on Christmas Eve too just shows they know no one is watching any more. BBC2 seems like it was just designed to be put on in the care home whilst the staff have a few in the back. 1968 Christmas episode of Dad's Army and the 1975 Morcambe and Wise specials really must be close to the end of their shelf life.

Looking forward to the next three episodes of Stranger Things on the 25th.

Each one is basically movie length, so that's 5 hours of my day right there!

They are out 1am GMT on the 26th aren't they?

Apparently it's a cooker, but I have no idea why it's coin operated.

Slapping "Christmas Special" on the average to mediocre soaps and quiz shows you were going to broadcast any way does not redeem them!

My dad and my brother watch. Both gammon.

Which proves my point.

Awful program that should never have made it past the pilot.

Did they not do a stage version at one point? Who’s paying to go and watch that!

Saw someone on a cookery programme at the weekend trying to convince me vegan pigs in blankets are in for 2025…some marinated carrots wrapped in dairy free puff pastry - it’s walk out on Xmas dinner territory if they ever got served up.

Almost everyone at my workplace loves Mrs Brown's Boys (myself excluded) and only myself and a couple of others watch comedy panel shows (as you say, the only good humour these days).

There isn’t enough Tiffany Chambers material online. She would go well in the birds you fancy off of uk telly imo!

I am curious about the etiquette around financial contribution towards Christmas Dinners?   I am hosting this year for second time and I got asked by my mum whether if I want financial contributions.

I would have been happy covering the cost and to ask others to bring a dish or two for evening buffet.
