First priority when the window closes is sign Braybrooke down and try to convince Nelson to sign on too. We don’t need to wait for anything, even if he spends the year in and out of the team his resale value is still there

I'd be looking to chucking everything we have at Page, even if it just protects his value - in my view he is the best potential we have at the club by a country mile.

Well he's likely on a pretty low wage, and even if he has just a couple of okay years with us, we'd likely still get a decent amount for him.

neither need to be on silly money, and are arguably more useful and valuable to the club than any of the permanent signings we've made this window (jury is out of course on these)

A logical point though the counter here is that his on low wages and his stock is very high, so if for some reason he wasn't good enough for us over the next few years, you'd have clubs queuing up to take him. Not that I need to tell you but where we normally go wrong is we're massively overpaying on wages for players not good enough to merit that wage (and normally combined with a big fee required for PSR reasons) so there's no way to get rid.

I get what you're saying but Braybrooke wont be on big wages so even if he signed a 3 year deal and then turns out hes not good enough, it wont be hard to shift him like it has been with the big earners.

If he received the ball even 50% of the time he asked for it he'd have comfortably the most touches, passes and progressive passes in the team by a mile. Class seeing a player that always wants the ball and wants to shift it on in a positive way quickly.

 

You'll sometimes lose the ball playing that way, but it's way better than watching cowards hiding from the ball most of the time and then watching them desperate to play a safe backwards pass the odd time they do show for it.

Just needs to tighten up a little bit in possession in terms of his decision making, and also when to release the pass when he goes on a run. Having said that, I didn't know he had those runs in his locker in the first place, so that's a pleasant surprise watching him. 

 

What is absolutely clear is that he has that innate talent of knowing what is around him before he receives the ball, which is half the battle as a midfield player, especially one without outstanding physical gifts. I'd like him to be given an extended run playing centrally, i think his main gifts are being wasted as a more advanced, slightly wider midfielder, and it'd give him a better chance to impose himself on games more, which is something he can also look to improve. I'm not going to go overboard, but he definitely looks like a championship standard midfielder at least, hopefully he can kick on and is trusted with the responsibility of being a main man.

Players like Braybrooke will lose the ball, it’s kinda part of their game. I watched plenty of him last year where stuff he’d try wouldn’t come off. 
 

I think he can be a very good championship player if he keeps improving

Becomes about the wages then. If he is given daft wages relatively speaking then yes.

 

Otherwise, you have a player who is pure profit that would have takers in L1 likely. So it’d be a bit of revenue.

 

Alternatively, he plays well and has his head turned and leaves for free next summer. We can’t assume we can just dictate the situation.

Once this shite Martin experiment has been ended, new ownership and a team based around Braybrooke Alves Joseph Aluko and a couple of the new signings could actually start to bring an upward curve again.

Very tidy player. One of the few positives so far this season has been watching him play. As mentioned above, he seems to link quite well with Page and Alves.
