We don’t have a half decent striker ffs I mean we are what we are at the moment. I hope they sort something out in January? Maybe as rumored we get Antonio be worth a shot. It’s better than having a useless caramba on the bench and not even throwing him on in the last 20 min. It’s clear to see we need goals and points to progress in this league

Horrible performance, feels like a defeat and we’ve won, that’s how bad it was.

We’re dull as ****, and if it’s not for James and Bobby, we wouldn’t be scoring goals either. Won the game because Derby are even shitter than we are.

That's why there is such a thing as league tables!

As others have said it was a truly terrible game of football and our shortcomings were masked by the fact that Derby were the worse team I have seen all season.

I have been screaming for both wingers to go round the outside more all season and for strikers to make more of an effort to get in front on the defender.  Both happened and bingo.  JJ’s goal showed both strength and composure.

It was good to see the youngsters on at the end to bring a bit of fire and energy but it did feel as though we were one brain fart away from trouble because they lack coaching and experience.  One of these can be addressed quickly but the other takes time and patience.  Compare that with the way Watford saw out the game on Friday and they are equally shît.

It was a far better performance than the one against Watford. It wasn't  a match of great quality but both teams worked hard and put in the effort. We just had a bit more class at times.

Finally we saw Fatawu try to go outside his opponent rather than always cutting in onto his left foot and guess what we scored from it with a tidy finish.

JJ's goal was very well taken but if that had been against us everyone on here would be slating the defender who was very feeble. Other than the goal I thought JJ had a pretty quiet game and didn't really do anything of note.

The bedrock of last night was a decent showing by our two centre halves. Okoli was far better than against Watford and had a good, solid if unspectacular performance.

The second half was pretty dire stuff and we offered virtually no attacking threat. It was good to see the young players on as subs but though they pressed and ran around the play did look disjointed after they came on but good to see them given time on the pitch.

Last night the main issue for me was the striking options. Ayew just offered nothing at all and not having a more mobile centre forward is a big handicap to the whole team as it doesn't allow us to press the opposition as far up the pitch as we would like. This really need addressing in January.

Shame about the injury to Ramsey. Hopefully not too bad but he's beginning to look like a waste of money. No point in keeping him if he can't stay fit. Not sure what the loan agreement is but maybe time to curtail the agreement?

Wins a win even if it wasn’t pretty at times. Really exciting to end with 6 academy players on the pitch. The prospect of next season having the likes of Nelson, Aluko, Monga, Page, Stol, Thomas x2, Braybrooke and even an Alves and Evans all a year older and as bona fide first teamers is basically what’s keeping me going! Another clear out in the summer, a few decent signings and PSR troubles behind us and we might just turn things around.

Looking at the Loans thread, you could add Joseph, Cartwright and Wilson-Brown to the squad. Not sure Alves makes it unless he has a decent second half of the season.

Largely more of the same but this time the dice fell our way. Another night they wouldn't have.

The cohort of academy lads is exciting though. Need to find a way to get Evans some minutes though. Hopefully bin off Carranza in Jan and get him in.

I owe @honeybradger a little bit of an apology.  I was at the game last night, and it was a breath of fresh air with the young lads on the pitch.   The one thing it did, was bring energy and an ability to press onto the pitch.

Now, I don't for one second think Silko is a better striker than Ayew and I don't think Page is going to have a bigger impact on the game than BDCR.... BUT a team being more than a sum of their parts is the reality... It allows us to impact the game more.

The lads that finished the game, deserve their place in the squad, hopefully they earn a place in the starting line up more often.

This is all people (well some) want to see. Not everyone is even calling for them to start every game. Just good minutes off the bench to give them the experience.

I think it was noticeable that Page looked more physical last night.

I really hope Evans gets a chance second half of the season.

Page was the most composed player on the pitch when he came on. He looked like he did in pre season again.

Yeah did really well. Was pleasing.

I feel for Monga a bit. He gets the ball and there’s instantly 2/3 players on him. It’s insane!

At the end of last season when Monga was making prem defenders look like mugs I thought he would rip up this league but that hasn’t been the case.  As you say as soon as he gets the ball he is surrounded by 2/3 defenders and flicking it between them and squeezing through the gap is only going to work every now and then.  He, and the coaching team, need to work out a way to get the best from his ridiculously good technical ability.

This is mainly because our transition play is too slow.  If we attacked at pace, we would find him in more one on one situations.

The pace of our general play needs to improve and it would have a tangible impact.  Same would apply for Fatawu and Mavididi as well.

It is Twixtmas and everyone is dozing on the sofa full of cold turkey sanwiches.

Really poor game summed by the closest moment to a goal in the second half was a keeper tipping his own defender's header over the bar. We did enough to win but it is not entertaining fare. The lack of a serious striker is really hindering us, although they didn't create much the young lads brought some energy and kept us further up the pitch.

James is a class above and we are far too reliant on him. Reid has stepped up recently to give him support but others have to contribute.

We look very mid-table. We should win enough to stay clear of danger but not consistent enough to challenge.

Double over Derby, must be one of the highlights of the season!!

That’s quite a low bar but, yes, it’s still very pleasing

I thought we were pants and got the win down to JJ and Derby being even worse.

Theres still no attacking cohesion or chance creation.

Mavididi still stifles us.

I really don’t get the praise for Silko, he only looked half decent because he did what any striker should do in terms of pressing and running behind the defence, which Ayew doesn’t do.

He isn’t any kind of answer at 9.

Nelson very good again, though.

Probably reflective of the game itself to be honest. A relief to win, but a boring game with not a ton to talk about. We've all been stung so many times this season too in terms of seeing glimmers of light or the possibility that we've turned a corner...and then that gets quickly snuffed out again. So perhaps nobody wants to get excited, and we're all a bit jaded.

Nice to have someone we can beat on a regular basis.

Since 2002 (new ground) - our league record v The Sheep is won 7 drawn 3 lost 0.   Plus one League Cup win and an FA Cup win.

Overall played 12 won 9 drawn 3.   Not bad.
