nettle Posted 1 February Posted 1 February Good player and a leader just what we need also someone who can actually defend.
Clarkey123 Posted 2 February Posted 2 February (edited) Big strong b*stard of a centre back at this level. Exactly what we need Edited 2 February by Clarkey123 3
Cincinnati Fox Posted 2 February Posted 2 February If this is more than a 6 month deal then they have learn SFA.
kingfox Posted 2 February Posted 2 February It’s difficult to praise our recruitment team, but signing a player like Lascelles clearly has some thought behind it. Adding leadership qualities has been a must in this window, and as I said in this thread yesterday, Lascelles is probably the most realistic we can get at this moment in time who will bring those qualities. Also since Nelson has come into the team, it’s been pretty evident that he needs a better partner alongside him. Of course it’s only right to be sceptical of Lascelles injury record over the past few seasons, but focusing on the positives, we have been crying out for a player of his profile. Experienced ☑️ Leader ☑️ 4
Mickyblueeyes Posted 2 February Posted 2 February He’s signing and there is a risk of injury. Huth if I remember was similar. However to use another teams example of how good a signing like this can be for a team IF it works is Mings at Villa. He is better than what we have. A leader and a proper one, not a Coady type. 32 so not over the hill. The hope is he stays fit and if he does, he keeps Vestegaard and Okoli out the team, with ease. Risk with it but if it works, on paper, good signing. Now let’s see what we are paying him! 4

fox_favourite Posted 2 February Posted 2 February (edited) I personally see this as a positive step in the right direction. We need a leader - check. We need a capable CB - check. My worry is his injury record. Like others have said, Huth didn't have a great injury record and he didn't turn out too bad. Let's see, but at least he brings something that we are missing entirely from team...if we can get it over the line. Edited 2 February by fox_favourite
em9999 Posted 2 February Posted 2 February Would be a good signing, he's a natural leader But only if he can stay fit
Turtle27 Posted 2 February Posted 2 February This will be a great move. The sort of person we’re lacking on the pitch and in the dressing room.

UniFox21 Posted 2 February Posted 2 February One of my concerns is this seems very much a repeat of the Coady signing
Popular Post Ric Flair Posted 2 February Popular Post Posted 2 February It's understandable to be concerned. He's very injury prone, on massive wages and no idea if he's able to still do it. However, he's also vastly experienced and previously a leader and organiser. Matty James didn't play for 5 years and then dropped to the Championship and doesn't miss a beat. The bottom line here is, as a club are we going to start making good decisions or not. We currently make gaffe after gaffe and the majority of signings are appalling, let's see. 10
jonny_wright Posted 2 February Posted 2 February If he stays fit he’s the first name on the team sheet and should be made captain immediately 1
Pliskin Posted 2 February Posted 2 February He is a very good pro, and is a good leader by all accounts. He could be good to have in the dressing room…… All boils down to his fitness really, but at this level he would be ore than good enough.
RowlattsFox Posted 2 February Posted 2 February Can't wait for Lascelles to be replaced after 15 minutes of his first game.
PlymouthFox Posted 2 February Posted 2 February Just popped up on Sky Sports News that he's having his medical.
daddylonglegs Posted 2 February Posted 2 February It says everything you need to know about the mismanagement of this football club over the last 6 years that Jamaal Lascelles is going to be signed and immediately become our best defender. Absolutely grim. 1

Spanner73 Posted 2 February Posted 2 February Go on Jon do your best ! Thats a 5 year deal on 100k per week on a player made of glass Good work lad !
roblcfc84 Posted 2 February Posted 2 February He’s a proper leader. Well thought of by many of the Newcastle fans, cared at a time when not a lot of their other players did. Had a stormer a few seasons ago against PSG when he hadn’t played for a while. He won’t be shy about telling this lot either.
