Yeah, an announcement that he was leaving at the end of his deal would have been made the week after the final game if he wasn't up for consideration.

The fact they haven't decided that nearly a month later is par for the course though. It's almost a carbon copy of RVN last summer.

Think it's more to do with them not having / not finalising a plan - whilst that's the case, they 'have' to keep Rowett as an option.

RVN delayed sacking was different because it was around figuring which accounting year could stomach the cost of doing so.

Plan you say. I wonder if they have ever thought of this?

And we still failed PSR which incurred a 6 point penalty and ultimately saw us relegated. Life under Aiyawatt an Rudkin, the gift that keeps on giving.

The 6 point deduction applied to the period ending 2024 (Promotion season under Enzo) so RVN sacking was irrelevant

Yeah fair.

Although I would say, if you zoom out a bit, both are still related to having no plan and running on vibes haha

I tried zooming out a bit on the Paul Jewell image but no dice.

I would think it’s because we are sailing close to the wind in terms of finances.

It would be pointless hiring anyone now unless there is sufficient funds to offset those costs.

But given the following-

No player purchases,

Marti and team hired and fired,

Rowett deal expense,

Sponsorship issues,

the additional boardroom staff costs?

I would think we will see some money in from sales in the next month.

If we use 23/24 as a template and ignore the variables our net transfer fees is very similar,

but that doesn’t include a fee for Bilal yet and it doesn’t take into account KDH sale was on the 23/24 books

Remarkable by our very low standards that we are where we are, regards to a new manager, but not surprising.

Nothing that an imaginative mind and a few well chosen AI prompts can't help out with :D

David Wagner wouldn't be to bad shout i feel, I think he would come here also.

I wouldn’t be upset with him at all but feels way too creative for our lot

Appointing Russel Martin would also indicate that there’s no intention at the club of deviating from the style that has seen us suffer back to back relegations, and 3 relegations in 4 seasons.

Also indicates that they’re so completely absent and tone deaf to the support.

If you could name the one manager in the world that the fans would be most anxious and upset about, it’s Brussell, and yet here we are.

Everything we do is so telegraphed, we'll try for Martin and he'll say no and then it's back to the drawing board, panic stations, then just giving the job to somebody grateful and out of their depth.

Martin won't have changed one bit. Managers rarely do. They show their hand and they know what they're comfortable with. If it's him, expect more of the same - loads of goals conceded. We'll go and concede 4 in a game to someone like Leyton Orient. It'll be comically bad.

He's the one manager in the last five years that's managed to lose to us when we were involved in a big game. He lost the game 5-0.

I've no doubt they are interested in him. Whether it actually happens is another matter, but they clearly are fans. Which tells me everything I need to know about them.

Has it not been fairly well documented that they have spoken to him before?

This isn't me saying they will appoint him this time around btw.

I’m struggling to think of anyone worse than Martin.
Would rather we take a chance on an assistant coach like Paddy McCarthy or Jason Tindall.

Paul Ince.

Not well documented exactly. The media vaguely linked him with us before we appointed Maresca in 2023, but that was before he trashed his reputation with Southampton in the PL and then Rangers.
