We've become a club that's mocked in the football circles and the press. It's abhorrent that we now stink the lower leagues out and it's entirely down to the bollox we have as owners, board members, etc. If they saw a missile coming their way they wouldn't duck, such is their arrogance and belief in their own infallibility.

Suggested homework for the 3 week league break - watch our games from 2015/16 and consider why the title was won with City nearly always having less possession every game. Ok, we had some decent players but there was a different intent. Possession in itself does not win matches.

Try mixing the style up a bit and you may have a better reception from fans at end of most games.

I admit to having a very serious bout of Martin Derangement Syndrome but he exemplifies a lot of what I dislike about modern culture and society. It's all about him and his half baked 'philosophy', and anyone that questions it or its results is getting "personal". No humility, no reflection, no backbone. At the same time he's so dull and lacking charisma. Soulless, thin-skinned football for the crappy 2020s. Compare that to some of the names mentioned in the just bumped Craig Shakespeare thread...

If you question the usefulness of his 'philosophy' then a finger pointing exercise begins as to who is to blame for it not working. He believes it to be infallible and, therefore, he is never at fault. He doesn't seem himself as working at Leicester and, with that in mind, under scrutiny of the Leicester fans. He sees himself as providing a valuable service that shouldn't be questioned whatsoever.

 

There's no more a untouchable and sacred position in society than a football manager with a 'philosophy'.

 

The funniest part is that they think they're SO intelligent and SUCH deep thinkers that they're not at all open to criticism and being critical. Critical thinking actually showing some intelligence, of course...

literally irrelevant to what's being discussed - the culture people are talking about is the egos behind the scenes, the sort of environment where it was seen as acceptable to hold up a sign saying Enzo I Miss U at a Christmas party when your current manager was under pressure, the sort of environment where players felt they could allegedly refuse to do strength and conditioning training under RvN, or turn up with their dogs like it was a trip down the park. 4 wins in the past 3 seasons, 12m in payoffs for being sacked due to the above yet our board still hire him.

 

I tried to give the benefit of the doubt and get behind him but Saturday was the last straw.

 

1-0 up, opposition down to 10 men for over an hour and we can't win.

 

No tactical shake up, no urgency to kill the game off and make a dent in the goal difference and as usual we self destruct.

It's so frustrating to watch, going short everytime is just as predictable as if we went long everytime. Good players should be able to make decisions in the moment based on the game situation, mix things up so we are less predictable to the opposition. I don't claim to be a football expert but it seems do obvious to me.

It would be so much easier if he was a dislikable person. Can't stand him as a coach/manager but it's nothing personal. The anger is toward the idiots that stuck two fingers up at us and appointed him.

I think even 6/10 appointments probably get us up here. It’s just Martin is a 3/10 appointment for us with where we find ourselves.

 

Cooper was an abysmal appointment, RVN was crap but he inherited a very shit situation, Cifuentes was mediocre. Maybe I’ve fallen for it again but not-Russel-Martin or-extreme-possession-for-the-sake-of-it should actually go a long way. This team is capable of getting promoted, it’s certainly much more talented than the rest of the division.

 

There are still much bigger, background issues but the way we’re set up, especially defensively is fixable - we don’t have a curse or a hoodoo we just need to make some semi-sensible decisions.

 

Keeping Martin jeopardises the sale, KP’s finances, the future of the club so they do actually have to sort something out.

 

I hope:

A) Everything pans out absolutely fine, we click and Martin takes us up (not happening)

B) We realise our mistake quickly and sack him and appoint a sensible manager - ideally Challinor but anybody with a decent track record that works well with a young squad
