I feel the Azteca record is going to help soften the blow if England don't turn up, but I don't actually think the record is that impressive when you look at who they've faced.

I'm curious to know how many of those games were against top tier opposition in tournament conditions.

Been stat padding against the likes of Guayana and Trinidad & Tobago, I would imagine

With an atmosphere 20% thinner at an altitude of 7,220 feet above sea level, the ball should travel faster as it encounters less air resistance. As for hydration breaks, maybe England's players will be more in need of O2 than H2O, and the water for their post-match cuppas will boil at only 92.5 deg C.

England should walk all over Mexico, they're professional footballers who play at the top level and are used to intense atmospheres, the Mexican team is massively overrated in my opinion, and haven't played a single good team yet.

Will they win? probably not

I think his next selection has got to be perfect for Mexico there’s a lot of questions around who should be starting.

some suggesting Rice should start at RB, Madukeke has to be dropped for Gordon as well probably keep Rashford on play Gordan on the right

could shift Konsa to RB and bring Stones in

It plays into our hands as we should be well up for breaking it regardless of previous opposition

Rice at RB shows you everything.

Just go 3 at the back and have wingers. Keep the back 3 tight and a holding mid willing to track back and go for attack.

Where does Jude go if we go 3 at the back with wingers?

Id go

Pickford

Konsa

Stones

Guehi

O’Reilly

Mainoo

Anderson

Saka

Jude

Rogers

Kane

I don’t think Rice looks right at all.

im not sure what you mean by tournaments? I mean there was the World Cup in 86, but I do believe this is referring to competitive fixtures , so that would be World Cup qualifiers, CONCAF, etc.

Incidentally, I think this is the stadium maradonna scored his infamous. Handball goal aswell, I think..

Well, to clarify, I do think I'd like to know what record they have in competitive games there against elite non-CONCACAF opposition.

Probably little, considering that like you said, those opportunities naturally come few and far between.

My point being that while the Mexican record at the Azteca is damned impressive, it is possible that they haven't really met many sides, at all, that have the quality to test them there in a competitive game, so I'm not sure how informative it might be regarding the game coming up.

And yes, it was there that Maradona scored one of the greatest goals and engaged in one of the most egregious acts of cheating all in one match. The duality of the man summed up.

Can't think of Pedro Porro as anything other than Argentinian, despite the Spanish kit. Looks, behaves and has a name which suits an Argentinian.
