Leicester City are set for a "fire sale" of all of their first-team stars in the final weeks of the transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

The Foxes' financial situation has become increasingly concerning following their relegation to League One, with King Power now having put the club up for sale.

Leicester also need to dramatically decrease their wage bill and will listen to offers for all of their first-team players before the early September deadline with a mass exodus on the cards.

Abdul Fatawu, Jeremy Monga and a number of others have already left Leicester this summer, but there will be many more to follow in the next three weeks.

Russell Martin will be asked to deal with what is left over at the end of the summer, with there likely to be a heavy reliance on young players.

Manchester United and Arsenal are said to be among those interested in Louis Page, while the likes of Luke Thomas, Harry Souttar and Caleb Okoli are also likely to leave.

Leicester have made signings this summer - Admiral Bristric and Wes Burns as permanent signings joined by a number of free transfers and loans - but the remainder of their window appears to be focused on exits.

Who could leave Leicester City?

While Leicester endured a horrific campaign in the Championship, several sellable assets remain at the King Power Stadium.

Fatawu and Monga were bound to leave with the former having scored nine goals and assisted seven, securing himself a move to newly-promoted Premier League side Ipswich Town in a deal worth £20million.

Monga, too, is among the youngest top flight players of all time and eventually signed in a £12.5m move to Manchester City after talks with Arsenal hit an impasse.

Leicester could well generate a similar fee for Page, who is a highly-rated talent and of significant interest in the Premier League.

Moves could also come for the likes of Stephy Mavididi, Bobby De Cordova-Reid, Michael Golding, Oliver Skipp and several others, with Martin forced to play a waiting game.

His son, Aiyawatt, took over as chairman but in recent years, the club has been on a downward trend.

In an ideal world, some Tony Bloom type or a UK/European consortium would probably be best for ambition and ethics while retaining the soul of the club.

 

Fan groups owning at least part of the club should probably be considered too.

Lazy journalism for me, off the back of the owner wanting to selling.

 

Can't see us spending a combined total of 3m on Cullen and Bristric if you are on the edge of administration. We have brought in players on loan in Howell and Watson who would have need loan fees, we could have just used Evans and Carr if money was that tight.

 

You don't bring in Chaplin an Cullen on championship level wages.

 

Add to that SCMP requires real time reporting so we have to keep our wage bill within 65% of turn over.

 

You don't dick around with offers for Faes, Mavididi and Souttar if you need them off the wage bill and you cash in on Page straight away.

 

Pretty common sense we want to get rid of the higher earns who have been crap, I sure we would love to get BCDR, Thomas, Hamza, Skipp, Mavididi, and Faes off the books because they aren't just expensive but also crap.
