Julian carranza was also that player 🫣

He wasn’t tbf. Carranza was a lazy panic buy. Big club has a player so he must be good. Not even slightly similar.

Brighton scouts must've missed this lad then. Or perhaps they didn't?

The point is there’s plenty of value punts around if you scout well enough.

Not to mention that ourselves and Brighton are now dipping in very different pools

What’s to say with the city group influence of McCarron we are now adopting this approach?

My personal gut is that this is a lad who’ve we had actually done some proper scouting on or it’s an ex target of some like Lommel or attached to the City Group’s clubs where they can take random punts without financial worry

Manchester City have signed several Eastern European players over recent years so may be McCarron has contacts?

Not that impressed to be honest, even for League 1/Championship

Let's hope he has got something special though and it just clicks with us and under Martin

I can't be impressed or not that impressed based on the brief info and Youtube clips we have. That's what makes this our most exciting signing so far. Unknown centre-forward

Well you're not going to be with an unknown quantity.  It's a gamble innit.  If he was anywhere near proven he'd be out of range.  Like Ballard.

Totally agree. Even if a signing like this is a total dud, I would like it if the club tries these punts more often.

"Premier League Proven":

- Jordan Ayew

- Bobby Reid

- Oliver Skipp

- Harry Winks

- Ayoze Perez (nowhere near as bad but imagine if we'd got someone else instead)

Compare this to

"Unknown Quantities":

- Riyad Mahrez

- N'golo Kante

- Anthony Knockaert

- Jamie Vardy (to some extent)

- Kasey Keller

Sure there have also been plenty of duds that can go into the second category too, but some of our most legendary signings have been unknowns.

Leon Crncic

When he fails to perform on a wet Tuesday night in Bromley can I be first to say soggy Bristric?

Not just unknown quantities but players on the up vs players on the decline

Will he need a work permit and, if so, does he satisfy the requirements?

Not quite sure how the qualifying rounds of Champions League would factor into it but because of them going straight out, him only playing a few minutes in those games, and the level of the Slovenian league I don't think he would get one

However we get a few ESC places which we can give to a player who wouldn't get a work permit so that they can still join - no one so far will have taken any of them so he will just get one of those

Was Kasey Keller really an unkown?
