It's kinda of been mentioned...but the thing I like most is that this feels like a scouted talent rather than an agent recommendation.

I'm less enthusiastic, but I hope I'm wrong. The highlights reel hasn't convinced me at all, and I'm not sure he's worth the money. 

 

I do agree that this seems more of a scouted find rather than a rush, but do I trust the scouting? Caranza looked okay in his highlight reel and was poor, the positive was that we could send him back, this one is a purchase.

 

This is a risk, I just hope it's a good one and scouts have seen something I am not.

Two things I flagged about Carranza that once again did not suit the system we play. 1) he lacked pace and 2) he only ever prospered in a front two.

 

Bristric looks to be quick off the mark and can play as a lone 9 which makes him more suited to what we tend to play but we also now have the 2nd striker if need be alongside him in Chaplin, Cullen and Evans.

 

I know little about this lad but from all the clips i've seen his shooting technique is strong. 

 

I'd say only comparison to Carranza is the amount of bookings.

Its the scouts are signing players based on a 2 min YouTube clip then we really are ****ed. ( Although that would explain a lot )

I think there is an element of excitment for fans as we have been crying out for a striker since JV left, we havent had a goalscorer, we have had a defensive forward who couldnt hit a donkeys arse with a banjo and another one who looked like he'd never seen a football pitch before. 

 

Over the past two years we have become very pessimistic and rightly so, but I feel like there is a little less pressure with bringing in an unknown entity, perhaps a diamond in the rough. Maybe he is what we need.

 

As long as he is scoring goals and we win games, I couldnt care how much he cost or what league he has been playing in

I think it was more one where in the build up to the relegation to L1 last time, we were just (obviously) pretty shit, well attacking wise. Defensively we were good. So it wasn’t a good time to be a (then) young striker moving up from Walsall. 
 

Fryatt and Howard were still a very good partnership upon promotion back and under Pearson. Things then changed when KP came in, got rid of Pearson and wanted big names on big wages.

I dont want to put a negative spin on this. BUT, IMO all of our signings this season so far have substance, logic, thought and planning into them.

 

To me, this smells of desperation. I was slightly disappointed that we spent between 1-3M on Cullen but 2M on a complete unknown seems very very high risk and not with the strategy.

 

Having listened to Ric's latest podcast with the ex sunderland guy funds are at a premium.

 

This just feels like all targets for a CF have fell through and this is a bit knee jerk.

 

Again, as the main man up front next season, i find it hard that he has all the criteria. If he is back up to a new guy coming in then fine, but if thats the case i dont know where all the money is coming from.

 

I hope i am proven wrong.

It's £2m! I'd imagine that agent fees were higher than that for an average signing last year. Yes I understand that our financial situation is dire, but making out £2m is a lot to spend on a player isn't cutting it with me.

 

It's a small amount and if he does flop it won't be like £25m blown on Skipp.

Those worrying about a panic/desperate buy, it is a pretty random player to go for! For a desperation buy I’d expect it to be some known player from English leagues who’s scored 10/12 goals a season for a couple of years that isn’t particularly rated. 
 

if this lad comes he comes wanting to make a name for himself in England and have a career in better leagues than he’s currently in. Hope he does well if he signs, has scored a variety of goals in YouTube clip, I like the one where he presses opposition to win back and shoots early. (Yes the keeper should 100% save it) that winning the ball back high Martin will be a huge fan of.

Yep I get the apprehension. 

 

Its a risk, then even signing someone who has scored goals at a certain level is a risk but less of one I guess. Wareham and Ballard for example,could've had a one off season. No guarantee they'd be successful.

 

I'd wonder if there might be a loan as well as this one.

The ball ended up in the net, but I fancy Danny Ward would have saved some of them. Not many clean finishes. His scoring record doesn't strike as someone that's an absolute bagsman either.

Probably a 4 year deal, £350k a year - pennies in todays game.

I’d be willing to bet a good amount of money that this isn’t going to be our ‘big’ attacking signing. It’s not a coincidence that we started on frees, then loans, then small money purchases, think we are working our way up as we make more sales. Think our biggest signings will be from the last two weeks of the window

Honestly struggling to see the skepticism of this one. It's pretty cheap, we've been desperate for a physical #9 for a few seasons, he's young, clearly has some ability and most of all should go up in value instead of aging and leaving on a free. Plus it's so random we must have scouted him, Ings was a lazy signing, this feels like LCFC of old.

 

It'll be as much about the goals he scores as the space he creates for the likes of Cullen, Alves and Chaplin by hopefully occupying the opposition CBs. Not one person knows if it'll work out, but it's a risk I'm glad we're (apparently!) taking.

 

Plus if Gene Pitney is right, he should be here today.
