It's in no way dodgy at all, he was simply a third choice keeper, although I don't know why we really needed one on a two year contract. Plenty of 30+ EFL keepers we could have brought in.

Or he might have been the easiest / cheapest to move on, maybe no one is prepare to buy Stolacyk.

I never understood why so many were completely baffled by this transfer.  He was just a third choice goalkeeper because we need three.  He never played because he was third choice.  Quite simple really.

The only thing I find baffling is why we have 3 keepers. Two plus a youth teamer is absolutely fine as the third is so rarely used… and you can have an emergency loan if the first two are injured anyway

It was weird to sign a 3rd choice keeper from Spain to be fair

There’s something weird and dodgy about some of our signings and this is definitely up there.

Surely something must have happened - personal issues, attitude etc, can’t understand why you’d go from a European final to 3rd choice, I doubt we’d have been paying him any more than Betis or whoever it was

Didn’t he win our ironic “Player Of The Season” ?

 

In our situation, last season and this, I’d go with an Academy product as 3rd choice. It’s like any insurance policy, you resent the outlay but are glad you committed to it when the time comes to benefit from it. We were short in so many areas last season, the chance of two keepers being injured at the same time was way way down the list of problems. I would have gambled and saved the wage, with things so tight it wouldn’t tip the scales but would help. Similarly give Evans or Hutchinson every minute given to Carranza and Richards, it wouldn’t have affected results one bit.
