Otherwise, it alienates Page more knowing he can't make the full squad, it would be poor man management.

Agreed, but was just taking Martin's comments at face value which I think he's just playing the game which is fair enough.

I wouldnt say it weakens our hand. It was the managers decision so he could prepare a squad that was fully focused. Once the window closes page has only one option, play at his best if he wants a move because that’s lots of young players with potential around the world that United could go looking at

It's a tricky one but LP just wants to play football and it's a toss up between heading to Man U now knowing he's gonna have to either fight to impress and play or be loaned out or stay here and fight for a place knowing his manager has basically binned him already. He's supported Man U since a young kid but LCFC have treated him appallingly and he and his family just want some clarity as to where things stand. I'm not going to question the veracity of this as it wouldn't surprise me, but the irony is Page out of all the tens we own is the more defensive of them all as he's more like an 8. 3

His whole career he's been wedded to this possession style but when he has a opportunity to use a young midfielder who excels in possession he decides it's too risky and wants to be more defensive. You can't play it out from the back then not use the likes of Page. You either use your best players in possession or you opt for a more pragmatic approach.
