Unfortunately the impression created by his glaring missed chances was so vivid it obscured what was a perfectly decent attacking midfield performance. 1

All it has taken for some positivity from the fans is a 2-0 win at home to Plymouth and a few fresh faces in while those that have contributed to our downfall have left. Look through this thread and you can see that people are genuinely excited to watch us play Oxford in a League 1 game. The club have gaslit fans for years into thinking our negativity has been the issue and it's simply not the case. Leicester fans just want, need and deserve to have a team worth supporting and I think we've finally got it. Pin this at the top of the bloody forum! Financial mismanagement, poor culture set from the owner, overpaid players who don’t give a crap and managers who haven’t got a clue. But no, the reason that we’re in L1 for a because of the fans on this forum criticising the above! Sometime I think you can be a bit extreme with certain posts but this is bang on the money. That Leeds fan whose comment was posted the other day saying they’d be rioting if they had witnessed what we had was also spot on. All we wanted to see is a team who are playing for the shirt, putting effort in and some excitement and something to get behind. We don’t want to see the likes of Faes, Vestergaard, Ayew etc stroll around as the graphics from Sky Sports flash up showing us bottom of the league for distance covered and sprints, a visual representation of the lack of effort. The fact even now, some posters on here as well as the obvious Facebook crowd try and make it about results is laughable. I don’t mean this is a shrug it off way, but we are where we are now, it is done. So it is positive now to see some progress in addressing certain issues and have a better culture around the club. There’s a long way to go but this shows that the vast vast majority, will be positive when given things to be positive about. It doesn’t mean we won’t also balance that out with things that are still to be improved but it’s about balance. 1

surrifox Posted 4 September Posted 4 September I’m expecting the loanees to get quite a bit of game time as their parent clubs would most likely have stipulated that . At least the latest crop look more useful than the useless or disinterested garbage foisted on us last time 1

Seeing some young players who look like they care does a lot at any level. I am looking forward to games again and I haven’t cared for the last two seasons. Bit of credit in there for Martin too. 1

We've had plenty of loan players who end up not playing much and we've loaned plenty out who don't get a game (eg, Alves last season). I can't see RM deviating from his preferred starting 11 just to appease Brighton or Man City.
FoxFossil Posted 4 September Posted 4 September Why do managers persist with BCR and the Daka theory. 'He only needs a goal to go on a run. Hes due a goal.' Two years later..... Hopefully squad depth means the theory goes in the Skipp. 1
mozartfox Posted 4 September Posted 4 September What is the point in pesisting with Thomas at CB when we signed two CB's? Total nonsense. BLOBBY needs resting - until April 2027. McCarthy cannot play this system and will cost us - probably tomorrow - this as everyone else in this Divison (except Martin) realizes we cannot play this faffing about system. More kicking into Row Z please. We have been very lucky thus far not to get punished by this shite. It has to stop if we want to get out of this league. Hopefully Cullen is not on the Bench and Burns does not start. 2
honeybradger Posted 4 September Posted 4 September (edited) Has Lundstram even had a pre season? I think calls for him to start might be premature. Can barely move anymore according to Hull fans as well. Not sure he is the midfield enforcer our fans think he is. Edited 4 September by honeybradger
Pliskin Posted 4 September Posted 4 September He has to drop Thomas for an actual CB. We’ve kept two clean sheets, but we would do well to remember we could have been 0-3 in that first half following some defensive horror moments…… we certainly got away with a couple. For me, don’t wait for it to go wrong, bring in O’Hora and Riis. 4

The thing is, you shouldn’t change a winning team unless your hand has been forced and you certainly shouldn’t be changing a defence that’s not conceded in the last two. Thomas is simply a temporary measure. McCarthy you’re right, he’s not great at playing out of the back but equally he was a massive reason why we managed 3 points on Tuesday. 1
Merchant_Banker Posted 4 September Posted 4 September I think Lundstram is a DM option against stronger teams, but Oxford are struggling more than us. If anything we should go for a more attacking line up. Page, Braybrooke and Doyle in midfield, Alves, Howell and Riis ahead of them. Same back 5 as at Plymouth. 3
weusedtobegood Posted 4 September Posted 4 September I dont understand the love of Burns, he spent his time on the pitch on Tuesday receiving the ball in attacking positions only to run it back to our defence.

He struggles to control the ball so it’s either a poor pass back, loose ball or pinged to someone trying to get forwards. I can understand people saying he’ll be fine at this level, but it’s mute if he can’t even get a shot on target. 2

I disagree to some extent. If the team is settled and it’s the preferred 11 then yes, keeping in the same where you can is preferable, but in some instances even if you’ve got a winning team it’s always good to be proactive and change it where possible. As I said earlier, we did get away with some very suspect moments on Tuesday, and could have been a few goals down before we started…. So it wasn’t a particularly convincing, I’d prefer to replace Thomas now, rather than us do a Burton at the weekend because he’s made a mistake….. 1

Very fortunate not to concede against Plymouth. That back line got away with it. Probably too early to bring in the new lad from Hibs and wouldn't risk Kanga unless he's been very impressive at Seagrave. 1

Don't think any of the vulnerability was due to personnel - it was to with the insistence to pass out from the back. Most of Plymouth's danger came from Leicester goal kicks. I don't mind playing out from the back per se - indeed many of our attacks came from us beating the press and Page/Braybrooke coming away with the ball and running into the midfield space Plymouth had sacrificed - but the way we do it from goal kicks, into our own 6 yard box - is pretty suicidal. 3

McCarthy was less of a bomb scare second half, as well as his saves he was better with the ball at his feet, seemed to either pass it out quickly or go long. The problems before were him dawdling on the ball and then passing it to someone under pressure or being under too much pressure himself to make a good a pass, hopefully we'll see more second half McCarthy than first half going forward. 2

Two years later..... Hopefully squad depth means the theory goes in the Skipp. His goals last season came in a short time close together to be fair, he had a good little run in December which was about the only time the whole team got going! I’m not a fan of him because he represents what has happened over the past couple of years. But logic says that getting in the right position as often as he has over the last few games will result in him getting one soon. I don’t think he’s a bad character so he’s probably in his own head as much as anything. It’s a perfectly logical thought to suggest that with him getting in the right places, one will go in and be followed by more.
RowlattsFox Posted 4 September Posted 4 September (edited) If O'Hora is fit, I'd be amazed if he didn't start. Thomas has done a steady job but he's not a centre back, kept a clean sheet but it was hardly secure was it. My bigger concern is McFarlane missing out for Thomas. I wouldn't be surprised to see Reid start again, especially whilst Chaplin is out. Bristric porbably gets one final start before Riis takes over. McCarthy Joseph Souttar O'Hora McFarlane Page Braybrooke Burns Reid Alves Bristric Razzioli, Aluko, Thomas, Lundstram, Howell, Watson, Riis Meaning Doyle, Kanga and Cullen miss out on this occasion. I think Martin likes the 2 wing options on the bench to freshen it up. Edited 4 September by RowlattsFox 1
