The whole left side was entirely wide open even in the first half. People will focus on the final third etc, ignoring the fact that all the relegations have been about being shite at the back, and we’re still shite at the back.

The experienced players were the worst on the pitch.

Admittedly, I’ve only watched the highlights (if can call them that) 

 

We look horrendous out of possession, distances too big across the backline and players unnecessarily looking to step across an unorganised defensive line. 
 

I thought Faes and Vesty was the lowest point you could go as centre half partnerships but HS and LT are certainly new lows. Way too easy too run off them, poor awareness between the 2 of them and bullied for their goals. FB’s look all over the place but I put the initials blame on not having a solid defensive pair as centre halves 

 

Midfield weak as piss and too passive 

 

Set pieces look unimaginative. Comes across as a hit and hope routine. We’ve got some young creative players, maybe we should be looking for other solutions to create better shooting opportunities

We have too many soft players. Easily shoved aside or go down looking for a foul. 

 

The way we play needs serious fitness which we don't have therefore losing possession leaves us exposed.

I actually thought Oxford played very well. We were too narrow with the fullbacks inside to protect the lack of pace of Soutter and Thomas. This allowed Oxford to get there wingers up quickly and get the ball into the spaces between our goalie and retreating defence. They had speed aggression all over the pitch and overwhelmed us. We need to realise that we have a completely new team. It will take time to get it together. We have a new spine to come into the team in the two new CB's and CM and CF. Hopefully this will complement our talented yet flimsy youngsters. We need to have patience here. We will gel soon.

I thought the loss to them in January was the worst I'd seen.

 

Then the Burton one topped that.

I think it's pretty obvious we actively look to recruit weedy, small and weak footballers. That's the club buying in the owners image. It's happened for too long to be a coincidence.

We just don’t seem to have a plan on the ball. Enzo got stick for his possession football but it always felt almost NFL with how we had our attacking movements and passing set, always felt like their was a purpose. Right now it feels as though their entire purpose is to get the ball to Alves/Howell and hope they produce something. I have been as pro Martin as they go (semi-hoping we aren’t dog) but he has to add kinks to his plan and at the very least make it tough to plan against. 2/3 home games where we can’t get out of the defensive third comfortably is mid table at best

Can't think of many teams who have had 3x 6'6 centre backs in the last 12 months (Souttar, Kangar, Veste)...

Sounds daft after berating the experienced players, but today showed what Top and Rudkin have reduced this club to; that we are so reliant on youngsters to consistently perform to a high level. Today was literally men against boys.

 

We've got some exceptionally talented young lads, but to keep throwing a team of kids into games against seasoned pro's who are not only highly experienced in this league, but know this is their level as a professional footballer and are literally battling every week just to secure a contract for the following season, is beyond negligent. 

 

Martin did himself no favours and has completely lost me now, but despite his inadequacies, quite frankly that result today is once again another huge example of the Top's mismanagement of our once proud football club. 

 

We rate Wes highly because he's been one of our best players since League One. He's been almost legendary for us under McKenna. BUT he needs to be played properly, given space to run into on the right and with solid players around him to tuck away the chances he creates. 

 

His injury last season hampered his appearances for us and, when McKenna went, he clearly wouldn't have been a regular in our PL campaign. That said, rather him than the consistently inconsistent Kasey Mac, but not rather him than Fatawu. He's clearly not enjoying Russball (but then who is?) and I'd be worried if your fans start to unfairly get on his back because he's a solid pro and will do a job for any manager who, like McKenna, is more attack-minded. 

 

Your board have  just blindly gone for the arsehole option as coach. You need a Nige Pearson or a Warnock-type to reset and redeem after a tumultuous few seasons. That won't happen til after a takeover now.

Reality hit home I think for a lot of people today.

 

Relatively speaking, I think this is the worst result I can remember as a supporter.
 

The one prior to that, losing to Burton at home.
 

The one prior to that, maybe the Bolton 5-0 under Taylor.

I don't want to hear the rubbish about experience. Souttar set the tone and he was absolutely shameful. Oxfords right winger looked about 19 and he had some very good clear instructions, and absolutely nailed it. Martin is obsessed with trying to implement a system, not win games. He doesnt win games. Its never working
