£5 x 10000 people = £50000 and 10k people spending in the ground

 

£10 even x 2000 = £20000 and 1/5 of the potential revenue at the ground.

Just another wasted opportunity in the huge list. The Board / ownership / management at the club are lazy and incompetent, they simply don’t care. Standards are exceptionally low and nobody provides the leadership to raise them.

 

The club is the epitome of a failing business.

Maybe I'm wrong but I see thousands of kids playing football regularly and I can't believe they would rather be stuck at home like every other night rather than A night out with mum and or dad at a live football match with the opportunity of drinks and food and a chance to let loose with some vocals.

Yep put them in a league match with 20k+ people and they'd love it.

 

But in what was nearly a friendly with less than 2k fans? I seriously doubt any young lad would be impressed by that.

I don't know.... even if the tickets were free I very much doubt we would have got 10,000 there.

As a previous poster said the attendances for yesterday's tin pot FLT competition at home were far superior the last time we were in League One - as many as 8046 attended v Lincoln in the FL Trophy home tie KO system in 2008-09! No doubt yesterday's sub 1.1K was probably indicative of it being an under 21s team as the opposition mind  - on top of the dramatic fall from grace over the past 5 years re general crowd disillusionment....re the bigger picture!

Depends really if it was felt that there was the demand for 10,000 tickets at £5 and what the additional costs are to open the ground to that level. I dont know these and not justifying it, but its not the most basic or basic maths.

Surely with say £6 tickets and free for kids they would have got a bigger crowd especially as it was a 7pm KO. They'd more or less only need to double the adult attendance to make the same money and they'd still only need to open the West Stand

 

What a plus it would have been to have the stadium with loads of kids, future adult fans probably seeing their first live game 

 

History tells us via FNF that that is entirely feasible

I was there and it did have a Family night football vibe, albeit in miniature, I remember a massive crowd for a Man United team. 
Yes the club have missed the boat there, the people who could make this happen are probably too young to remember the success of FNF, and haven’t the brains to think of the positives.

It was my son’s first introduction to live football ( other than watching me play senior league games) and for his sins he’s supported them ever since. Unfortunately my grandson has jumped onto the Man City band wagon and will need some persuading in our current predicament.

Im not against this competition as such, as we've never won it, and would also be a trip to Wembley if we got to the final. However our first team playing the u21s of a team who are a similar standard to our actual u21s, is beyond a joke. Our u21s are probably better than theirs, just that our best players are either loaned out or in our 1st team squad.

If it was then why would they not get this info out, * on ticket details or release that info via the FAB.

Plus a new generation of fans attracted to the club, wanting a new kit and too come again to future games, massive missed opportunity. 
 

Could have even gone for a group ticket of £10 for a family of four, would have been a great way to attract families with young kids to attend an early evening kick off in relative safety and comfort of a smaller crowd. Put on some reasonable and fun entertainment and chances are you will have lots of repeat custom, new supporters and merchandise opportunities.

Even the 7pm kick off plays into the idea that children should attend. Finishing at 8.30, in bed for 9.15 is much more reasonable for younger kids.

The EFL holds the right to determine minimum and maximum ticket prices. Clubs that discount for season ticket holders have to account for this and pay the difference in revenue reduction to the opposing club. Not defending the club but highlighting that in the modern game much is controlled by the tournament organiser.

Agree, why have a empty ground. Surely the extra fans even if they came in for free would spend some money on food and drinks.

 

Operations person at the club is a bit slow me thinks

Not for the Vertu Trophy. The home team decides.

 

Bradford City charged £5 for adults and £1 for all concessions in their game against Newcastle U21s.

 

Several other games had a minimum price of £2.
