Well didn’t Everton fail because of how they registered the debt for their stadium?

There was a dispute between Everton and the premier league about how the interest on the loan for the stadium should be dealt with but the premier league didn’t pursue it after an Everton appeal

Everton was done on two occasions for being £19.5 million and £16.3 Million over the £105 million rolling 3 season limit

The takes are not ridiculous, they are true.

He’s a brilliant coach and he’s undoubtedly built some of the best teams to have ever played the game.

The major “if” will be could he have dragged an inferior team to a level punching above their weight.

If he was brilliant, he wouldn't have cheated.

Who’s to say he has cheated? As far as we know he’s just coached the players that was brought

Sorry but will all the stuff that is coming out about Barcelona (payments to the vice president of referees in Spain) I can only view Guardiola as being a cheat, and this has followed him.

Pep has massively high expectations as a manager. If you listen to some of the stories from ex players, I do actually wonder how he’d get on at a club like ours, where recruitment more restricted.

He built and adapted a systems, with the free rein of a bottomless pot of money really. Could he have got a tune out of that Leicester side that was relegated last season? He’s never been tested in that water.

Great coach, however it’s not like you look at an Alex Ferguson and see winning a Cup Winners Cup Final against Real Madrid and a Super Cup against Hamburg. He’s only ever managed at Elite Level.

It is crazy to say it, however the fact people even discuss it, shows people have question marks, whether that be true or not.

Picture, Pep Guardiola taking over a mid-table League Two side. November. Shit weather. Uneven pitches. £400k squad. Two centre halves who panic when someone passes it backwards.

Everyone else treats the ball like it’s a live grenade.

I think he’d struggle to adapt initially and would be like watching Russell Martin. He’s never known that style and type of football.

So on one hand people are saying any of the "Warnocks" could have as impressive careers had they solely managed top clubs, and on the other people claim that managing poorer teams/clubs is effectively a different beast. It's a bit of a contradiction.

He might well struggle with a poor side, but then you also need to admit that he might be great at managing a good side (which offers different challenges). Maybe, just maybe, he might be a great fit for top sides for that very reason.

The fact he's being copied tactically all over the world by a lot of "Warnocks" tells me that A) they know their stuff and recognise better game or B) they're all suckered by the Emperor's new clothes and are just as clueless as the Emperor himself.

It's paranoid to think Guardiola is the mastermind or even accomplice in these things. Does he play the game outside the game well? Of course. Any top manager worth their salt will have to. None of them are squeaky clean at that level, and that's because they know how the business works behind the scenes. Especially if they're former players or have been in the game for that long. But just because Guardiola plays the political and media game well, doesn't mean he's doing anything out of the ordinary.

Then again, if Sam Allardyce, Tonda Eckert, Bielsa et al cheat or engage in criminal conduct, then it may just be a lot more common in top football in general.

I just don’t think any massive points deduction or exclusion will happen this season but then would get very embarrassing if it looks like Man C are going to win the league .

Can see them getting a small one with a fine and transfer ban thrown in .

Chelsea are the biggest winners in all of this, the last team to benefit from unlimited owner investment from Abramovich.

But that's still not enough for them, in 23-24 they sold 2 hotels and the womens football team to umbrella companies owned by Boehly or Clearlake Capital to offset PSR losses of £242 million.

In the case of the women's team it was 2 days before the PSR deadline.

They never tried to conceal anything, but how is this not considered a sham sale or owner investment?

Its clearly additional owner investment on top of the permitted £105 million.

I'm not sure what Chelsea have on the PL but their punishments never fit the crime.

...because it is within the rules (ridoculously). The Premier League clubs had a chance recently to close the loophole but voted against it.

it’s probably not illegal because Boely, who of course has now left the club,  supposedly took full ownership of the hotels and women’s team. So theoretically he actually has some assets for his money.

it’s somewhat normal that when a large company needs money, they sell their assets.

The big question is that now he has left, are the hotels and women’s team still owned by his company?

HOWEVER, the big question is, did he ever actually own them or did their registrations stay with Bluco?

I actually think there may be a few clubs squirming a little bit watching the scrutiny Man City have received over all this. Some of them are not condemning them very loudly..

Assuming an appeal is unsuccessful, If the sanctions don’t mean Man City will be relegated and pass on any decision on expulsion to the premier league then that becomes a huge problem for the members. Fifteen would need to vote for it and I just can’t see that being reached if it’s down to the owners to decide. BUT, the fans will not be ok with that. just as with the super league, the clubs need to tread carefully. it could be that the message will drip out that people who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones and this is not a super league situation where meritocracy on relegation/promotion is being ditched.

Chelsea were only fined. And yet the PL said the only sanction would be a points deduction.

It wasn’t a points deduction because they would not have fell foul of PSR even if the undisclosed payments where included in their financial statement

they got a £10.75 million fine, a 1 year first team transfer ban suspended for 2 years and a 9 month ban on registering academy players

Much ado about nothing arguing over Pep. He's clearly a brilliant manager, but Manchester City cheated as well. Both things are possible.

I think it was clear something was dodgy with Manchester City all along. There's a reason why I never liked them. Was always weird seeing neutrals celebrate them winning the league over other teams, they're backed by a state ffs. And now deluded Manchester City fans are backing them over everything. It's clear that owners can buy large parts of fanbases (as we've seen here).

I'm expecting nothing to happen to them though.

Maybe, who knows. It was investigated by the PL and no meaningful punishment was given to Chelsea.

Before they 'sold' the women's team their PSR losses were £242 million😂.

Both clubs use owner-linked money to produce paper income that helps with compliance. City hid that link, Chelsea disclosed it via selling assets to itself.

Another ex leader speaks up for Man C.

Was Manchester that much of a dump before they came along then ?

The local council really are desperate for them to stick around .

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c9gkv7pdd620o

There are still large swathes of Manchester that are undeveloped wastelands and former industrial sites.

The nice bits are really nice, the bad bits are still awful and there are plenty of them.
