Just got back to work, all the fittings I bought have been taken, someone has lost some test equipment, procedures not signed, stuff not done and to top it off, I'm getting £20 a day less.

Now sure why I need to take responsibility and put everything right, if they don't want to pay me more to do it. Not happy.

Got a text whilst on a once-in-a-lifetime holiday about a workplace "announcement." I knew it was coming, but now I'm back I've got to deal with it.

Potentially hundreds of jobs going where I work. I have my consultation letter.

Will almost certainly take VR as I've been there 15 years, but it feels weird. In a way, kind of looking forward to a lump sum and a new challenge. On the other hand, the industry I work in has been absolutely decimated in the last few years and I know a lot of people struggling. It's pretty uncertain.

Fully expecting for it to be incredibly tough trying to find a new job.

Good luck whatever you decide. My husband took VR in 2020 and it was life changing for us, fully appreciate it won't be the same for everyone but I hope everything works out for you

Just had the comment of the day at work...

Part of my work we have invited to an event in Solihull, it starts 9.30am but they have asked staff to come in at 7am. Take note I don't drive so I would need get the train.

So I email say "Yes we will be at the event, however earliest I can get there is about 9am as the earliest train won't get me there till about 8.45am plus a taxi from the train station to the building etc"

Response "Hello can't you drive here, as it would be probably be easier than catching the train:blink:lol

Clever thinking how I never thought of that lol

I wondered what the car on the drive was for... all these years of travelling by bus and train I could have used my car. :D

So grateful to have smart people around like that, whose great knowledge believes every person in this world drives.

For some reason I can’t recall I thought it would be a good idea to book a 5:25am flight from Jakarta back home to Perth via Singapore.  So I got up at 2am and am now at the airport at 3:42am.

Did the 14 hours later reply from someone who cares land you safely in Perth?

Feeling a little bit down and not being a fan of hot weather I decided to grab a few bits from Aldi on Aylestone road, on the way there just gone 9am I noticed a young woman lying on the road in a side street with a guy trying to help her up, so after a pause I went over to see what was happening, hearing another woman shouting from a house that he had pushed her.

I went over and asked if everything was ok, she said no whilst he did a thumbs up whilst not looking me in the face, she said no again and he then vanished into a nearby house, asked her if she was ok and then she said  yes but was a little dizzy and had some blood on her fingers, unfortunately I did not have my phone on me but told her I'd walk with her to the main road and carry her bag, (she had a large packed bag with her) but she said she was ok, did her hair into a bun and tidied herself up and said she was ok again, so after asking her one last time she said she was ok and I let her be just keeping an eye on her for a few more minutes before going on to do my shopping.

Difficult one, but don’t think you could have done much more tbh.  I assume they knew each other.

As an ex special constable we were  always told to avoid domestic incidents if you could.

You would inevitably try and help and then get caught in the middle or the other parties actually gang up on you for getting involved.

You did as much as you could.

Yeah, it was  a difficult one, I knew walking up it could have turned nasty but I could not  just turn my back and walk away, even when I left her I felt a bit bad for doing so but I cant live there lives for them.

DV incidents are notoriously difficult to deal with. Most times the victim doesn't want to take the matter further.

I've been to so many where we we had the police involved as well.

Sadly the victim just doesn't want to move to a hostel or a hotel room as their home is where there feel most secure despite the violence.

I can't imagine giving up almost everything you have to go somewhere where you have virtually nothing. It must be a terrifying choice.

Just sorting a few things out in my loft i came across a box of leicester city stuff, old programmes, scrap books, newspaper articles etc...  Found my old wembley flag from 1992, with photos of me and my dad in the garden before we set out to wembley.

I had my face painted, leicester hat, leicester scarf, flag, leicester t shirt...I certainly went for it.  The scary thing was my dad in that photo was younger than I am now, he turns 83 in a few months,  time really does fly doesn't it.

I don't know if there's anything that represents the passing time quite like football nostalgia. Unlike most of our activities, so much of the matchday routine stays constant throughout the years, yet everything around you changes.

Distinctive players, kits, games, grounds, sponsors punctuate it all so clearly too.

Was driving back from an appointment today when we spotted these two helicopters and heard several loud explosions.

Was a bit concerned, but turns out they are filming the TV show 'Reacher' near by.

Really bizarre

Was born and bred in Melton and left the area aged 47, 16 years ago. I still work near there and today I decided to go food shopping there instead of around north notts, when I was putting my bags in the car this chap approached me and asked if I was (saying my name) , obviously I replied yes, he said good I bought some football boots off of you when we were 12 and I never paid you, would you please accept £5, I did, we shook hands and he walked away. Just very very odd with it being 50 years ago

I would have counted for inflation and perhaps a late charge.

But yes, that is strange.
