Gabriel and Sebastian Shemirani watched with concern as their mother Kate rose to notoriety during the pandemic, eventually getting struck off as a nurse for promoting misinformation about Covid-19.

Then, their sister Paloma was diagnosed with cancer. Doctors told her she had a high chance of survival with chemotherapy. But in 2024, seven months later, she died - having refused the treatment.

The brothers blame their mother's anti-medicine conspiracy theories for Paloma's death at 23 - as cancer doctors tell BBC Panorama these beliefs are becoming more mainstream.

Kate Shemirani has not responded directly to the allegations we raised, but she has publicly blamed the NHS for her daughter's death.

As far as I'm concerned, that woman is civilly, if not criminally, culpable for her daughters death.

Kate Shemirani has promoted a range of unproven theories on social media and fringe political podcasts about how she believes Paloma was murdered by medical staff - and that this was followed by a cover up. The BBC has not seen evidence to support these claims.

Grifter, mentally ill or both, she was in so deep she'd sacrifice her daughter for the cause.

Astounding really, and incredibly sad.

Agreed. I grew up on a council estate in the 60s and the vast majority of people took a pride in their surroundings and this was instilled in the kids. Somehow this care and attitude has been forgotten

...and what is your view on what has happened to Britain since the 1960s?

She was certainly partly responsible, however her daughter seemed to have had other people in her life, including a boyfriend who did n’t share her mother’s views.  Very sad that her daughter chose to go down that path, but choose she did.

The mothers isolating behaviour was obvious, and I can imagine it's very difficult to fight that when sick from cancer. She did choose, but for me the mother bears almost all responsibility for that choice.

The mother is unquestionably a horror show, that much is clear. I might disagree with you on the level of responsibility though.

Fair enough. Goodness knows I have my own biases regarding people who choose to disregard scientific knowledge and dire things happen as a result.

A very big question. One of the things which I regret is the demise of provision of decent council housing to people that need it. When I got engaged to be married we went on the council housing list and we got a flat in quick time. When we had a child we were allocated a house. All this provided millions of people secure good quality homes at a rent that folk in ordinary jobs could afford. That the provision is greatly reduced has undermined the security and health of too many in our country.

Northern accents are challenging I agree.

Lucy Beaumont's hideous Hull accent always grates on me - "Ah derrrnt knerrr" - instead of "I don't know" makes me want to vomit.

North East I like. All Scottish accents are great. Lancastrian is ok. But Yorkshire... just no (apart from Sheffield which is acceptable)

£19 for unlimited streaming for up to 4 different people to be streaming at the same time is fine value.

£6.33 a person for 3 people or £4.75 a person if you're using it for 4 people..

Seems to think every viewer has no sense of nuance so will talk out the topic in every single detail.
