Don’t get me started on the bbc football or sports section in general.

It winds me up far more than it should but when reading a report on the men's test match and even listening to TMS, they refer to the 'Batter' and 'Night watcher'

We know it's regarding a men's match so why not use the terms Batsman and Nightwatchman. I suspect almost no one will be offended.

What point is it you're trying to make here Jon? Other license fee payers are paying for the archers but they don't listen to it, that's how the fee works and it's what you sign up to - or don't.

I cant remember, and my post isn’t really clearing things up!!

Heard an English kid refer to a ladybird as a ladybug today

I also hate it when I here them say, "the mailman is at the door."

Increasingly common.

Half of British kids seem to speak like Americans. Not just the vocabulary but even some individual sounds.

I suppose in the early 20th century people in the colonies were desperate to dress and sound like English gentlemen....

What grinds my gears....

People who use the word 'like' almost every sentence.

and....

When you ask for confirmation or the other person agrees with you on something the other person returns with "definitely, 100%" or just "yes, 100%".

I don't know why, but both really annoying me.

And 'you know' or 'you know what I mean?'.

-

Separately, also don't get those who start an email with: 'I hope this email finds you well?'.

What would you suggest? My go to is 'Hope you are well' - I don't hope or care if you are well - but in our culture you have to do the niceties or people will get offended.

I preferred it working in the US, didn't even have to say hi on an email, launch straight into what you want.

So true. I prefer: Dear [   ] I hope this email finds you gravely ill.

Reminds me of a (I think) Stephen Fry quote...

"It's better to be insincerely wished, have a nice day, than sincerely wished to have a bad day.

My LG TV insisting on turning on “Ultra HD Deep Colour” repeatedly. It looks crap, I have to dig out the otherwise unused remote every time and I don’t want an inanimate object I exchanged money for dictating to me. 🤬

I am sure this has featured before but people queuing at empty bars.  What the fvck are you doing people? For time immemorial man and indeed woman have walked to any part of the bar that is not occupied.

Today I strolled up to the bar and ordered a pint and my lunch whilst a load of people were queuing in a neat straight line.  Got a few dirty looks but nobody was going to question a 6ft skin head, even if at heart I am a woke liberal hipster because I watch stryders football tactics piece on YouTube and had heard of Cifuentes before we appointed him.

Which leads me onto another thing.  People without the critical thinking to make reasoned arguments on the forum so instead resort to calling other folk a hipster because they have a differing opinion.

That's better.

I can somewhat accept it if it's young 20s people who's first intro to pubs and clubs was during covid restrictions.

Walking into a Wetherspoons and seeing men in their 40s/50s queuing up single file at a bar that's about 30 feet wide though....it's sad to see

100% this was people my age or older, mid forties up.

I did feel entirely smug when a (20ish) barmaid screamed out; can you please make use of the bar you are blocking the entrance!

Saffron Hill cemetery being absolutely rammed with Asian families, presumably visiting their dear departed resting place, or indeed for a funeral itself.

Not a great deal you can say or do about that, but when they are parking and blocking access and exits in the cemetery and even parking on the grass beside graves, it isn't on.

Total lack of respect for others.

Then, to make matters worse, when someone we know was trying to visit a grave, a young Asian man - not an official - asked her to come back next week.

Understanding and empathy needs to work both ways.

People who take too long using hand dryers when drying their hands. Well awkward when there’s only one and you’re stood behind them.

I find if I start using the back of their trousers to dry your hands it really hurries things along
