MPH Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 Well that video clearly worked. It warned them off. Good job.
MC Prussian Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 IF he'd ever leave this club, he'd probably want to be part of a Manchester-based team - but definitely not Manchester City. Having been part of the United Youth, it must've been a very special occasion playing the Blues last Sunday. I hope he can maintain this fine form as of recent for the replay on Tuesday..
Fox92 Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 Highlights can make anybody look good. Ive give you and Strange. That was pointless. We all know he is a cracking player with a fantastic brain.
Edmund Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 Leicester mercury reporting this morning that Wellens isn't going anywhere, sounds like he's turned down the offer How did you come to this conclusion? There's nothing which even points to an offer or contract ever been offered. As was said yesterday, this is most probably the work of his agent. It's common practice these days. Fairplay to him if that's the case, can't blame him for looking for one last big paycheck.
Simmo86 Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 Strange. That was pointless. We all know he is a cracking player with a fantastic brain. Not really pointless. Shows that you can make any player look like a world beater with a bit of edited footage! Wellens is a good player and has been showing it recently (hope it continues) but all to often before that we was a shadow of what he can be. Thats what gets my back up about him.!
Manwell Pablo Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 Highlights can make anybody look good. Ive give you and I Kaebis doesn't make him look good , it's a series of tackles on big name players, only about 50% of which are fair, him arguing with some clown in a international game, him crossing a ball (you don't get see where it goes) and the same goal line clearance 7 times. EDIT: Sorry I stand corrected, having watched it all he does miss a easy chance towards the end as well, what a star.
wolfgang amadeus Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 sven just said on radio leicester than wellens is not for sale :sge:
cc_star Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 sven just said on radio leicester than wellens is not for sale :sge: Great news - we don't need any more unsettling especially of a player of his stature within the team
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 I think Wellens is oner of the main players in the squad, if he left we would really struggle to replace him. Glad Sven has said he isnt for sale, he is so important to the team.
The Doctor Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 Highlights can make anybody look good. Ive give you i reckon he could have turned out well for us this season. Quite possible he struggled to settle last season with the succession of short term contracts for half of the season. Had we let him settle and have a proper pre-season he might have done well for us. Shame that penalty meant it was never going to happen.
Guest Mee-9 Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 Wellens is our key player for me. Wellens plays well we always seem to win or play well.

I was a massive Yann bummer last season, made me look at bit of a twat with my mates after the penalty though. Also think he could of done a job this year, never going to get the chance though.
Thracian Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 Wellens is quite difficult to assess in terms of value. For people to suggest he's in any way lazy is ridiculous. He might need to take recovery breaks (while, biologically Abe and King can run all day), and he might be less aware than he should be, but Wellens gives 100% even when things are going wrong as at Burnley and Ipswich for instance. My concern about Wellens is not about his workrate, attitude or creative ability it is about his overall effect and whether a decent fee for him at this stage of his career would be worth taking if we had a ready-made replacement. Overall I don't think it would because I actually believe that, despite his age and experience, Wellens can still be coached to improve. Firstly in his attitude to taking responsibility around the penalty area by having a shot. There's no about ability or the positions he takes up - it's about self belief and putting that right is easy for any half-decent coach. Defensively it's a bit harder. Wellens just doesn't see the play like King. He sees the bloke with the ball and will happily give him what-for in any personal coming together. He's defnitely a scrapper when it comes to man on man. What he doesn't see so well is the other players and the secondary sources of danger or the way a situation might develop. Watching King when he played central midfield, he forever had his eyes up, surveying the whole situation. And that's why, as Marbella has mentioned, he turns up at just the right time in defence to nod a cross to safety or put in a vital foot or a relieving pass. King rarely if ever ball watches. He's all thought and calculation. Well Wellens can be urged to take more responsibility defensively as well and he can be taught in conditioned games exactly how to do it. In many ways part of the problem is to convince him it's as much fun and as important to the team as his cleverest pass. And Wellens would learn. He's already prepared to play more simply than he used too - and he's also become more consistent. I don't see why he wouldn't improve some more. Wellens already provides more assists than anyone else. If he's credited within the club for his defensive assists (in stopping goals) and for every shot he has over his current average then his effect will improve considerably. And that will be a worthwhile bonus. Cos at the moment a problem we have is two central midfielders - and Oakley when he plays - is that they don't really contribute to the 80-odd goals we need to have a reasonable chance of promotion. Abe, I should add, is also likely to improve. He's still feeling his way in the team and establishing his status. But Abe can shoot adn he can take damned good free-kicks and corners. The sooner he shows it consistently though the better.
clarkeston Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 Cannot c that happening, why would they want him? They already have a good strong midfield just added Bentley to it. Better he stays he is playing well 1st team regular lets have him help us achieve promotion.
clarkeston Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 Bugger! Hopefully it's nothing. They haven't got any quotes at least so there's a good chance it's just journalists stirring up gossip. Got some gossip 4 u Robbie Keane spotted at walkers

MikeyT Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 Heard from a very reliable source he wont be in the squad tomorrow and is joining brum for 1.3 million on monday ?????
cc_star Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 Heard from a very reliable source he wont be in the squad tomorrow and is joining brum for 1.3 million on monday Really, really don't want him to go - he's one of the best midfielders in the division and the amount of passing he does will be very hard to replace in the January window, when you don't have the pick of the whole market... Can't see it happening somehow - SGE said yesterday he wasn't for sale and £1.3m is hardly an offer too good to refuse. We've had 338 attempts on goal in the Championship alone, which is the highest in the league, a very large amount of them are down to Wellens. He would be a big, big, big loss and there isn't Premier League bench-warmer Sven could bring him to replace Wellens' contribution. Finger crossed
wurmer Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 Heard from a very reliable source he wont be in the squad tomorrow and is joining brum for 1.3 million on monday Don't forget reliability of sources are in this order, just so you can check.... Bert >> a 'mate' (who read it on Talking Balls) > My mates dog > "Seen in Morrisions" >= Wikipedia
