leicester4life Posted 9 May 2012 Posted 9 May 2012 Nothing to do with the fact he's spent his career in the top flight? If the man wants to come home, what's not to say he hasn't already earnt plenty and would be willing to take a big pay cut?
Callabinho Posted 9 May 2012 Posted 9 May 2012 Maybe he has another part-time job in the states? At Starbucks?
Bayfox Posted 9 May 2012 Posted 9 May 2012 fair play i stand corrected on guppy. let me just clarify at no point have i said heskey IS going to the states, i'm just saying it's an option he has on the table, the guy who told me this trains with heskeys dad at least 3 times a week. this guy owns a local resturant and heskeys old man was in last weekend and although i didnt talk to him personally i have no reason to doubt what he has been told. for the record he is a city fan and wants him to come back.
Guest Col city fan Posted 9 May 2012 Posted 9 May 2012 I'll say the same thing as I said when this idea was mooted. FFP necessitates value for money.... If we have to pay Heskey 30k a week I'd probably not bother. If his wages are nearer 15k or so I'd like to see him in a City shirt. We already have an allegedly expensively assembled squad. To add big names on big wages to what we have already wouldn't be financially prudent until we offload a couple or three....
J.Lisemore Posted 9 May 2012 Posted 9 May 2012 Its not like Heskey is going to come back to LCFC on an extraordinary amount of money. People maybe forget that this is the man who gave a significant amount of dough to us when we were in admin.
Jace Posted 9 May 2012 Posted 9 May 2012 Apparently his contract at Villa was £60,000 a week 1 of my mates who is a Villa fan has been going mad about this last couple of years to me
ScouseFox Posted 9 May 2012 Posted 9 May 2012 Think some of you are forgetting we're not in admin any more, far from it in fact... If Heskey was coming back and we were struggling financially then obviously he'd be all "hometown club, gave me my big break, club means something too me etc" and take a massive wage cut. Seen as currently we're paying Prem wages for about half our squad I don't see why he'd say "oh yeah I'm from here, I'll have 90% less than everyone else!"

Fair point, but if this £60,000 a week wage is true, then I should think him and his agent know that he has to take a big wage cut to come here anyway, unless we do something stupid, again. Money obviously falls of trees at LCFC atm, but this ain't gonna last forever.
burni Posted 9 May 2012 Posted 9 May 2012 The question is would he come to us for 15k a week which could be what we would be prepared to pay him (hypothetically) when he could go somewhere for perhaps 25k in the states? I'm just guessing here but if were not prepared to pay close to elsewhere i'm not sure he would come, I bet he wouldn't mind a small cut to come back home but nothing too significant.
David Guiza Posted 9 May 2012 Posted 9 May 2012 Unless he goes off to play in China or somewhere like that then no team is likely to cough up large wages for him. Can't see a Premier League team being interested, it's whether or not a) Pearson wants him and b) if he wants to finish his career playing a large part in our season, or sit and count his money abroad.
Simo86 Posted 10 May 2012 Posted 10 May 2012 Apparently his contract at Villa was £60,000 a week 1 of my mates who is a Villa fan has been going mad about this last couple of years to me Yeah around the 66k mark. He's their highest earner, well he was that is.
svensson Posted 12 May 2012 Posted 12 May 2012 Yeah around the 66k mark. He's their highest earner, well he was that is. No he isnt/ wasnt Darren Bent and Stephen Ireland are on more. Why is everyone so concerend about the FFP and the wages Heskey will be on.. I think its safe to say that the owners will do the right thing. Makes me laugh what people on this site are prepared to pay for heskey as a weekly wage.... No more than 15k a week should do it... get back to champ manager..

He may even take pride in helping his hometown club reach the premier league. For a man that has been on 60k a week for over 3 years, money may not be a factor at all lest we forget.

For a man that has been on 60k a week for over 3 years, money may not be a factor at all lest we forget. I agree with that. When I saw that EIH was thinking of returning, I thought, "another oldie - just like Howard"; but then I looked at his age and compared that to other established / GOOD Premier strikers - and found he's (roughly) the same as Jason Roberts (now doing the biz at Reading), Kevin Davies, Didier Drogba, Louis Saha, Craig Bellamy, Michael Owen and Ricardo Fuller. OK, not all of them play all of the time, but they all still make valuable contributions to their clubs when they come on - and some (Davies particularly - and he's older than Emile) are vital regulars. Heskey has also had a pretty injury free record throughout his career (no more than a couple of months off at any time) and stayed fit. I (now) think he could do a job for us - particularly in a League not so competitive as the Premier.
foxfanazer Posted 13 May 2012 Posted 13 May 2012 Maybe he has another part-time job in the states? I hear the commutes a bitch
Petchy Posted 13 May 2012 Posted 13 May 2012 All the cards are falling into place... C'mon Nige, just for us? Please? We let you have Solano....
ScouseFox Posted 13 May 2012 Posted 13 May 2012 Wait, so as we're talking, right now, Emile Heskey has no club and Leicester City have no target man? Err hello...
Salieri Posted 14 May 2012 Posted 14 May 2012 dont want him another Yakubu past it If Heskey could score half as many as the Yak has in the last couple of seasons then i'd be delighted. The Yak is about 5 years younger and has just bagged 17 Premier League goals in a relegated team, hardly past it.
MattyFromLE Posted 14 May 2012 Posted 14 May 2012 dont want him another Yakubu past it What a ridiculous statement. Yakubu's record for us was impeccable.
