Wolves away post match

Recommended Posts

I do hope people aren't going to claim that we were unlucky today. We got what we deserved for poor defending and an inability to convert simple chances.

This is becoming a habit and it will cost Pearson his job. He will be gone by bonfire night.

We lost to Blackburn because of two great finishes. We lost to Wolves because we can't defend set pieces. I feel a bit for the management team. Every time they patch up and improve parts of our game, the players mess up somewhere unexpected. I like our formation though, so many good runs, so much good build-up play and we even deliver great final balls in the second half only to see them spurned in inexplicable manner. Marshall, Nuge, Drinky and yes, Waggy all atrocious in the final third...

Shocking, hope we drop - Moore, Nugent, and Dyer.

SHUT the hell up! Moore looked good again today, Nugent did get the run of the green admitted but the ref was against him the whole game and Wolves doubled up on dyer which gave us extra space on other wing. How many crosses came from de leat's side? I just don't understand some of you people I really don't.

The last 30 minutes may help people mask what was a disjointed performance.

I said during the match thread that Wolves losing Doumbia may help our cause and so it did. Suddenly we had time and space around their penalty area that Knocky could exploit. Until his injury I thought Doumbia ran the midfield.

The defensive 'lapses' continue as they have done under so many different defenders and our strike force looked severely lacking.

Until Konch scored the rocket I thought he had a terrible game.

Finally, bringing on Waggy rather than Beckford tells a story itself I think.

Overall, I'm not surprised as I thought we'd lose anyway. Anyone who considers this a promotion squad, on today's showing, is either amazingly optimistic or daft I'm afraid.

Can't hold on to the ball, DD was poor, Konchesky was poor except for his goal. We seemed to attack the near post and leave no body going to the back and I remember about 4 very good chances flew through to that area. I think we can bemoan our luck, the ball rarely ran for us today but in reality we aren't good enough yet. I hope NP is given time to build and shape the players but I doubt it some how.

RDL - shambles

Moore - shambles

James - not good enough

Dyer - same old no end product, did nothing all game

Nugent - tries to walk it in, not scored in ages now... however people still get on the back of Beckford and forget about how little Nugent has done for us this season/end of last season.

Waghorn - don't even get me started, cost us atleast 1 point, could of easily been 3 with the momentum if he could of put it on target. I hope the bellends who said that 'warm up means nothing' are reading this.

Cheers City, feel so sorry for the away support today, Where do we go from here? i give up

Lack a cutting edge. Still defend poorly. Great going forward with the ball, but that won't be enough over a season. When 'striker' is our weakest position, (on the pitch never mind on paper), why play two ? 4-2-3-1 FFS !!!!! Knocky scared the crap out of them. With Marshall and Dyer either side, and King and DD sitting deeper, I feel we'd be so much more effective.

yeah play one striker up top on his own when we struggle with fecking 2!

Back four looked very very suspect, simple basic mistakes that are bread and butter are infuriating. First half we invited them on and the frailties in the defense were exposed. Second half we were much better, the defense looked much better going forward than at the back.

A word about decision making; We don't have any.

Wolves players in the box were much taller than our forwards, yet time and time again we would lump over hit crosses in to the area. Knockaert had the right idea, run at the lumbering brutes, when we went with that we started opening them up. Just frustrates me that we have the ability and the players yet everytime when in the cruicial moment of an attack someone makes a dumb decision and the impetus is lost.

Moore - awful passing and shocking from set pieces..

Nugent - poor finishing, not scored for 11 games

Dyer - Knockaert a much much better player

Can we stop all this over reaction please???

If you look at the teams on paper, apart from in goal and on the right (marshall), they are better than us all over the pitch.

ebanks-blake and doyle are miles better than nugent and vardy

johnson, berra, ward and stearman are all better than de laet, morgan, konch and moore.

henry, doumbia and sako and all better than king, drinky and dyer.

We weren't embarassed, but gave away another 2 goals which wont stop until we actually stop playing a right back at center half.

St ledger was fit FFS, and why futacs didnt at least play, if not start, is beyond me.

This is simply not true. They were crap and we gifted them the game. I repeat. Not good enough.

From the match thread:

6 Substitution

Ikeme going down after the goal?

Another one of your players going down

i can

Only 4 subs. You made one in the first half and one at HT. So that's roughly 2 mins added on. Ikeme had treatment for all of 30s and there wasn't any other time wasting from us.

That was a tough win for us. Ultimately you gave yourselves too much to do with a sloppy first half performance, couldn't take your chances and only scored from a wonder goal.

To those who say we looked shit, well yes we haven't been great so far this season but then again we were certainly no worse than Leicester. And you hadn't lost your three best attacking players, had 7 foreign lads trying to settle in amongst a relegation hangover and a new manager with new ideas trying to change the way we play.

You were the better team in the second half and should have got something from the game on balance. Sloppy defending has cost you today.

Knockaert looks a good player for you. Him and Marshall shoukd be starting out wide regularly.
