King Richard lll is the kind of high profile guy they're looking for. Will add a bit of backbone to their crumbling team.

Well, it has certainly been a winter of discontent for them.

Hasawi is the obvious candidate. Has a hands on role already in transfer dealings and seems to be an expert in recruiting exciting Kuwaiti talent that no one has ever heard of. and for good reason.

At least they will all have perfect eyesight...

I think Adkins will actually take this.. and could do well :o

I think Adkins has more about him than taking this job. Anyone with any integrity would go nowhere near it.

Not so sure. Let's not forget any football management job in the top 2 tiers is a pretty cushy number and even if you get the sack after a couple of months you can expect a juicy pay off.

As much as he might like one I can't really see Adkins landing a PL job any time soon. With the exception of Villa I nobody in the bottom half seems imminently likely to get rid of their man and if Villa do I don't think they will go down the lower league man with modest top flight experience root again because that would effectively be like for like. Outside the top flight are there likely to be any more high profile jobs coming up than Nottingham Forest? Not that I can think of at the moment.

adkins has just been shafted after 2 promotions and staying above the drop zone, why would he want a job where you get shafted after a few weeks/months.

I'd like to see Peter taylor as the manager, the owner as 1st team coach and sven as a director of football, in charge of player recruitment, that should fix the problem, I here he has a good knowledge of L1. Beckford will do ok there.

Billy Davies: Nottingham Forest return likely for Scot

Nottingham Forest are set to name their new boss within 48 hours, with former manager Billy Davies the overwhelming favourite, reports BBC Nottingham.

Alex McLeish left Forest on Tuesday and Davies is odds-on with nearly all bookmakers to succeed his fellow Scot.

Billy Davies at Forest

Jan 2009-Jun 2011:

Games: 126 - Wins: 53 - Draws: 36 - Lost: 37.

Davies took over after a return to the Championship under Colin Calderwood had produced just four league wins in 25 games. The former Derby County boss led the club to consecutive play-off campaigns, but the Scot fell out with the board regarding a failure to land further targets and departed after a play-off semi-final defeat by Swansea.

Davies, who managed Forest between January 2009 and June 2011, twice led the club to the play-offs.

The 48-year-old was expected to take over at Blackpool, but it is understood that deal has now fallen through.

Davies has always maintained he has unfinished business at the City Ground.

Last January, he spoke of his desire to return as manager as the club struggled under then boss Steve Cotterill.

Davies had a troubled relationship with the Forest board during his time at the club, leading to his sacking.

However, the way was cleared for a possible return when McLeish left Forest by mutual consent on Tuesday after just 40 days in charge.

The 54-year-old cited "a difference of understanding of the development strategy" at the club, now owned by the Kuwaiti-based Al Hasawi family, as the reason for his exit.

Swindon manager Paolo Di Canio, former Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo and ex-Southampton manager Nigel Adkins have also been linked with the job.

"I would like to place on record that the club met and discussed the manager's position with Billy Davies on Monday evening," Oyston tells Blackpool's website.

"Contrary to speculation, I can confirm that the meeting concluded with both parties agreeing to speak again on Tuesday.

"I spoke with Billy on two occasions yesterday and he has decided to follow another opportunity, which is a decision we fully appreciate and understand."

Get your money on Billy Then?? Unless Oyston is being a wind up.. which wouldn't surprise me/

Billy Davies would be an excellent appointment for them. He certainly knows how to create a hardworking team that achieve at this level, as proved at Nottingham Forest, Derby and Preston. The only thing that could be a problem for the owners is the fact that he isn't a 'yes' man.

Agreed.

If he's left alone to get on with the job he will do a really good job in my opinion. If the owner starts interfering I can see Forest looking for anothe manager before the end if the season.

To be honest I'm surprised he's going back there, they treated him like crap he took them from the championship bottom three to two play off semi finals and the thanks he got was getting replaced by Man with the brolly. Plus you could say it's a bad move for Forest it's taking the club backwards, with a lot of good managers available they go for a past reject. I know we went back for Pearson but we didn't sack him in the first place!

In my opinion Davies should go to Blackpool, less expectation and less pressure. Plus closer to home for him because I believe he still lives in Preston. I don't think Davies will last long at Forest if he does get the job, he'll be gone back october!

I'll be disappointed if Davies does go to Forest, as he is the best they can hope for & could potentially do well for them.

That said, I'm reassured by the fact that he is unlikely to still be manager by the end of the month

Haha! Middle Eastern madness in the East Midlands.

When the Etihad was called Eastlands it was given the unwanted nickname Middle Eastlands!

Although I'm told "Etihad" means "United" in Arabic, in many ways that's an even funnier name! lol

I agree. It is surprising he'd want to go back there. Didn't he fall out with the board over spending? I also heard he still lived in Scotland while managing Forest, and went back up there for most of the time. Maybe this was another reason for a falling out with the board?

Oh, McLaren is the wally with the brolly. I'll never forget his cringeworthy put-on Dutch accent shortly after moving to the Netherlands.

I'm pretty sure that's true about the word "Etihad". Heard that a few times. Man City fans must love having "United" plastered all over their shirts!
