Happy Fox Posted 27 April 2013 Share Posted 27 April 2013 http://www.mirror.co...tional-1857430? Martin O’Neill is Âheading for a sentimental return to Leicester. O’Neill, sacked by Sunderland a month ago, is set to replace Nigel Pearson as City boss Âfollowing the Foxes Âpromotion fade-out. They need a miracle to make the play-offs and Pearson needs to lead City into the top flight to Âsurvive. And the scene is set for O’Neill’s return. He enjoyed a spectacular four-and-a-half-year stint in charge at the Foxes before leaving to take over at Celtic in 2000. A Leicester source said: “Martin is available and the club’s owners are very much aware of his achievements here before and that he is Ârevered by Leicester fans, who consider him to be their most successful manager.†O’Neill, 61, guided City to three League Cup ÂFinals – winning two of them – and kept the team consistently in the top 10 in the Premier League. The Irishman’s friends admit he does not want the Sunderland job to be his farewell to front-line management.

Guesty Posted 27 April 2013 Share Posted 27 April 2013 As much as I'd love it I still can't see it. But if he'd never managed us before and there wasn't all that that never go back. I think we're the ideal club for him. Unless, something in the Premiership appears. So I don't think it's out of the question.
Lcfclee Posted 27 April 2013 Share Posted 27 April 2013 Don't want him back. It could turn out to be a disaster and ruin the legendary status he already has here.
Voll Blau Posted 27 April 2013 Share Posted 27 April 2013 That 'Leicester source' is just stating some very obvious facts in the quote. What's written around it is pure conjecture. Churnalism at its very worst.
MooseBreath Posted 27 April 2013 Share Posted 27 April 2013 The mirror have been consistantly wrong in everything they've said about our managerial position for the last 18 months since i started noticing how they always get everything wrong. God knows for how long they've been getting things wrong and i'd imagine it applies to other clubs as well. Frankly embarrassing journalism and i'd urge everyone never to click on links to their crap stories because that will only encourage them.

whoareyaaa Posted 27 April 2013 Share Posted 27 April 2013 If they do sack Pearson I would welcome MON any day of the week, if it don't work out **** it I will still remember the good days that won't change.

stevelcfc Posted 27 April 2013 Share Posted 27 April 2013 I'd only consider wanting him back if he can convince Robertson to come back with him.

Guest Posted 27 April 2013 Share Posted 27 April 2013 Is the Leicester Source, Raj the newsagent. It's Filbert. He mimed a conductor to the chant of 'woooooooaaaaaahhhhhh you're shit ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!' And from that the mirror got that O'Neill was coming back to Leicester. Deucalion Posted 27 April 2013 Share Posted 27 April 2013 It's in quotation marks, they wouldn't do that if they had made it up. So someone said it and it is also in 'officialish' language. It's not from the owners but could be a deliberate leak to ramp up the pressure on Pearson. It could also be the kind of thing Susan Whelan would say if a Mirror journalist rang up and said 'what do the owners think of Martin O'Neill'. kingfox Posted 27 April 2013 Share Posted 27 April 2013 Maybe the source was the man who shouts shoot behind me at every game. Last night he did it at every player coming round, and the people going down the steps looked at him gone out and couldn't stop laughing. He said Wes shoooooooooooooooooooot, then said De Laet shoooooooooooooooooooot, then Kasper shoooooooooooooooooooooooot, and finished with chairman shoooooooooooooooot. The mirror probably got him in a darkened room, asked him would you like to see O'Neill as next manager and he went shoooooooooooooooooooooooooooot, so they thought yep he is definitely coming, we have eventually found a source. Ozwin Posted 27 April 2013 Share Posted 27 April 2013 I'm almost past caring now. If we don't make playoffs then it's going to take a while for me to get back into it. If he comes in then it'll at least spark everything back up again.
