VLC86 Posted 21 August 2013 Posted 21 August 2013 Marshall won't be on ridiculous wages,Sally on the other hand... Sell him. That bloody leach Sally eh
marbelladave Posted 21 August 2013 Posted 21 August 2013 Know for a fact he's on 12k. And he absolutely does want to leave.. Hard to blame him. Creative type player who can't get game as the manager doesn't like creative type players. We need to do a bogof offer....... Buy Knockaert or Marshall, get Gallgher free......
indierich06 Posted 21 August 2013 Posted 21 August 2013 Hard to blame him. Creative type player who can't get game as the manager doesn't like creative type players. Ummm, he bought them?
GingerrrFox Posted 21 August 2013 Posted 21 August 2013 Never felt like Marshall fit in at the club and don't think he ever felt comfortable here. He's a proper Northern lad and moving to Blackburn back near to his Manchester family base would suit him down to the ground. If he wants to leave and we can get good money for him, there is no point in keeping him.
Yuki! Posted 21 August 2013 Posted 21 August 2013 Exactly how many games do you think this mad run of form lasted Yuki? from when we signed him, up until his England u21 call up. Maybe "mad" is a bit of an over exaggeration
mrmagoomc4 Posted 21 August 2013 Posted 21 August 2013 pretty shit if a manager can not get the best out of a player like marshall !!! , hes no winger he needs to play centre midfield not constantly on the wing, nocky and marshall in centre midfield would provide enough amunition for our strikers
RowlattsFox Posted 22 August 2013 Posted 22 August 2013 Personally would like to see a loan deal to a top end league 1 club to regain confidence as I think he can offer us something. No point him floating around squad not playing.

Just because he's creative, doesn't mean you can just stick him in the middle and he'll magically become a central attacking midfielder. Ben Marshall is a winger, end of - he might cut inside every now and then, and in my opinion he should cut inside more often rather than hugging the touchline, but he's no central player.
Number 6 Posted 22 August 2013 Posted 22 August 2013 Feel he has potential but is an old school winger and I wouldn't be that sad to see him leave.
Lionator Posted 22 August 2013 Posted 22 August 2013 Is it just me or were we all a little bit deluded by Marshall when he scored those screamers early on? For me he's done very little since.
Nick Posted 22 August 2013 Posted 22 August 2013 Does feel like we haven't yet got the most out of him........ Tough call.
johnny the fox Posted 22 August 2013 Posted 22 August 2013 I hope the lad does leave after reading this shit on here, are you real football fans or just a bunch of kids who play on the park with your mates and think you know about football? I hope the lad does leave after reading this shit on here, are you real football fans or just a bunch of kids who play on the park with your mates and think you know about football? That's a bad stutter you have there, so YOU are a real footballer and know more and have more wisdom than the rest of us plebs..mmmm
Lambert09 Posted 22 August 2013 Posted 22 August 2013 I've always wanted to see us try King Drinky/James Marshall Knocky Dyer Nugent / Wood
Lambert09 Posted 22 August 2013 Posted 22 August 2013 Is it just me or were we all a little bit deluded by Marshall when he scored those screamers early on? For me he's done very little since. I think its more the fact fans think that he should be scoring screamers every week thats the problem. Everyone ignores the fact he gets more assists then anyone else when hes on the pitch. He's the best crosser of the ball and has a good creative brain. His issue is confidence, the one area fans should be helping him, unfortunately this is not the case.
Fox92 Posted 22 August 2013 Posted 22 August 2013 Is it just me or were we all a little bit deluded by Marshall when he scored those screamers early on? For me he's done very little since. So do you not watch his all round play? He is a good team player and he defends better than Dyer, Gallagher and Knockaert. He has a decent brain, and creates a lot of goals for us. Just because he hasn't been scoring sreamers, doesn't make him a bad player. I wish people would not just judge players on goals. I'd rather us sell Dyer and Gallagher ahead of Marshall.
Foxy Bingo Posted 22 August 2013 Posted 22 August 2013 Very very similar to Gally. Technically gifted and can score some impressive goals but lacking too much as well imo. Needs to be given a chance this season, though I can't see where he fits in with the new formations being played. Something which I worry could affect Knocky in the near future as well.
LcFc_Smiv Posted 22 August 2013 Posted 22 August 2013 Right, not sure how relevant this is. I was told this a few weeks back from a guy in Sheffield. Apparently Marshall and Drinkwater were being made to prove themselves after they had displayed poor behaviour and attitude towards the end of last season and maybe in the summer, he didn't clarify. Drinkwater got his head down and became more involved. This all started when the two of them started to car share with Wellens down from Manchester. I took it with a pinch of salt, and it sounded very much like a blame Wellens thing, however there were heavy rumours DD was being allowed to move on towards the start of the summer, when there was no real explanation. He said Pearson's goal for the summer was to get rid of the high earners (common knowledge) and those who he thought was affecting the squad (nothing groundbreaking). I don't know how reliable the bloke is, I forgot all about it until Gingerrfox mentioned his Manchester family.
Dan Posted 22 August 2013 Posted 22 August 2013 I don't think low of him because he isn't banging them in from 40 yards every week, I think low of him because he goes missing. He can cross a ball, but he just doesn't do enough on it. Rarely has a go at beating his man. I'd not sell him cheaply, but if a decent offer came in, I wouldn't be disappointed to see it taken.
Jace Posted 22 August 2013 Posted 22 August 2013 If he doesn't like Pearson and wants to go then I say let him go, I think hes a great player and has bags of talent but I'm sick of hearing about players who don't want to be here. We are not Real Madrid trying to hold on to Ronaldo or Tottenham holding onto Gareth Bale or Man Utd holding onto Rooney our players can be replaced let them go and play the players who do want to play for us
marbelladave Posted 22 August 2013 Posted 22 August 2013 Ummm, he bought them? As well as Knockaert! And took them, 'worked hard in training' and turned them into scuffling midfielders, second rate wingbacks and players with little interest in playing for the team. Gallagher and now Marshall seem not to be able to get a game, and do not seem inclined to do much about it. On the other hand, Knockaert is so frustrated that when it gets on the pitch he tries to do everything himself. Going into recent games with no creativity, no real pace and a pretty conservative mindset must be pretty dispiriting for some of our players, professional attitude only goes so far.
ronnup Posted 22 August 2013 Posted 22 August 2013 Haven't got a huge amount of options. Can't see why we would unless there's a better replacement in the pipe line. Which I doubt there is.

If you don't want to be here, find somewhere else.

If you don't want to be here, find somewhere else. Maybe it is not 'us' he doesn't want to play for...... Good players get a bit fed up when consistently being asked to play out of position, in a style that does not suit them and generally being wasted by not playing in their primary role. Sure, a good pro will play anywhere to help out the team, but being played in roles where he does not really contribute on a regular basis must get you down in the end.

That still doesn't explain why a manager who 'doesn't like creative players' would buy them in the first place.
