Monsell1976 Posted 2 November 2013 Posted 2 November 2013 He's playing great at present, playing with confidence and pushing forward. We all know what a good player he is, but at times he is guilty of being inconsistent, and for me these are the times he slows it down, and tends to always pass sideways. If we can keep the kid in this form for a large part of the season we will do well.
Unabomber Posted 2 November 2013 Posted 2 November 2013 Very weird that some fans wrote him off last season, he is an excellent player and one that we should be very grateful for having and he has been fantastic this season.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 2 November 2013 Posted 2 November 2013 Best game he has had for us in a City shirt. Different class
Bert Posted 2 November 2013 Posted 2 November 2013 When we were playing well at the start of last season it was because Drinky was running the show for us. No coincidence the same thing is happening this season.
LCCFox96 Posted 2 November 2013 Posted 2 November 2013 His form this season has no doubt been a very pleasant suprise. Long may it continue. Love how he has also added a few goals to his up game this year as his shooting wasn't good last year with. Looking very good this year.
StanSP Posted 2 November 2013 Posted 2 November 2013 Really good today. Really impressive. A battler and can be composed on the ball. Just kept on going and going today and fuelled the determination in our performance.
Matt Posted 2 November 2013 Posted 2 November 2013 Yeah like Vardy he is proving me wrong and i'm very happy for this to be happening. Well done Drinkwater, keep it up!
fazzyfox Posted 2 November 2013 Posted 2 November 2013 He seems to make less of those momentum sapping backwards / sideways passes than he did last season which comes with confidence and in line with the whole team being confident and playing off the front foot at the moment. After Forest away it looked like James would be in regularly with King but his suspension has cost him and then there's Hammond as well, it's nice to have this competition.
foxfanazer Posted 2 November 2013 Posted 2 November 2013 Unbelievable set of 2 faced fans!!!! How many of you wanted him out the side? Now look at you. I've stuck by him the whole time as you don't lose your ability overnight as some fans think. My god, we have a fickle lot do you know what two faced means?
Corky Posted 2 November 2013 Posted 2 November 2013 He seems to be so effective without being flash. Sensible on the ball and often plays a killer pass without too much fuss. Again, superb performance today.
Danno Posted 2 November 2013 Posted 2 November 2013 He'll be cupping his ears all the way to the premier league at this rate
Unabomber Posted 2 November 2013 Posted 2 November 2013 If his shooting was as good as his passing he would be seriously amazing.
Dickov22 Posted 2 November 2013 Posted 2 November 2013 He's not playing any differently to how he did for a large chunk of last season.
kingfox Posted 2 November 2013 Author Posted 2 November 2013 No but its two faced that a lot wanted him out the side yet the same fans now acknowledge he's quality.... Yes he's in form currently but the abuse he's had on here has been embarrassing No! Drinkwater was clearly performing badly in the second half of last season, and rightfully his performances deserved to be questioned. Now he is playing well again, he deserves praise, so like I've always said before, if Drinkwater plays well I will give him credit, I did it last season when he was playing well & I've done it so far this season. He lacked consistency last season, and as the season progresses he might show lapses of form again and perform badly, but right now I bloody well hope not if he continues to play like he has done so far this season, then we will be there or thereabouts, when playing like he is doing and the way he get's on the ball, shows intensity & passes forward quicker he is one of our key players.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 9 November 2013 Posted 9 November 2013 The only player emerging with any credit this afternoon.
dmayne7 Posted 9 November 2013 Posted 9 November 2013 The only player emerging with any credit this afternoon. ?! Really? To me, much like the Doncaster game, Drinky shows too much immaturity in games where the opposition get in front and make in tight. He tries to force the issue when he needs to be patient and slows it down too much when we need some impetus. He was definitely at fault for the first goal for getting dine by the pass and then for kicking the ball out of Kasper's hands. Still, he has been one of our best players this season and whilst I've criticised his maturity, there's no doubt he's a better player than last season and will hopefully continue to get better.

I can't recall him losing the ball this afternoon and he's recycled it efficiently and quickly. The only outfield player to show any kind of urgency going forward, for me - bar Knockaert who was bizarrely subbed.

Bert Posted 9 November 2013 Posted 9 November 2013 They stopped him playing which is why we never got going.
Stadt Posted 9 November 2013 Posted 9 November 2013 When Drinky plays well the team plays well, DD wasn't great but we can't expect him to perform every game.
Tom17LCFC Posted 9 November 2013 Posted 9 November 2013 Yeah Drinky makes us tick. Null his threat and we struggle which we did today. One of those days, we move on.
Dickov22 Posted 9 November 2013 Posted 9 November 2013 He kept going. Did fine for me. He was far from the problem today.
David Guiza Posted 9 November 2013 Posted 9 November 2013 Wasn't at his best today at all, but who was? In my opinion he's been our player of the season so far though, stronger and fitter than last season. Everyone's entitled to their off day now and then, strange that whenever there's an international break we seem to take our foot off the gas though.
harpendenfox Posted 9 November 2013 Posted 9 November 2013 I think we did get going. We had 15 shots after all. We simply were not clinical in front of goal
