This isn't just due to the result today but I just don't get him I'm sorry! Going to get slaughtered for this but oh well. It seems as though no one ever says bad of him because he's been here so long and came through the academy. He's a favourite for a lot of people and I understand that. But I just seriously do not and have never rated him! He's a superb finisher and has a habit of being in the right position. But so much of his game is poor! I'm not being funny but if we ever get promoted to the premiership he is the first player that needs replacing! Where's the tough tackling and power that i personally like in midfield. Wheres the leadership for a centre mid? You can get away with being invisible for large parts in the championship but put him in the premiership and we would lose nearly every game. Too invisible for me and he never does much. If he's that good then why has another club never come in for him.

I think if we ever make the Premier League he'd be the first name on the team sheet.

Keeps possession sensibly, pops up in good positions in both attack and defence.

He is far from the complete midfielder but I think that his attributes would be better suited to a higher level of football and hopefully he can get it with us.

That said, he was very poor today IMO.

just a coincidence that it's appeared after our first home loss of the season.

He doesn't get enough credit, yes he does go missing sometimes, but he is an all round midfield general. He can score goals, and now he has very good defensive skills.

The only thing which frustrates me is, I think Matty James is our best midfielder, he was our most consistent midfielder last season, but now he seems to be 4th choice. With Drinkwater being in form, I would like to see James come in for King for a bit.

Here we go...

The Foxes Talk Faithful will argue that black is white won't they?

This is exactly the type of game in which we needed our 'key' players to take control and to win the game for us.

I'm afraid that Forest pretty much ran the midfield. Not in the first half, but in the second.

I say again (what's the point really?)... Don't look at King ON The ball, look at him OFF it. Lansbury basically had the time to control things, to orchestrate, to ping the ball about at will. Why? Because he had the space to.

It seems that, time over, when we play a game that really matters, where we need to control the match from the centre, King ends up lacking.

Fair play.... Today he wasn't the only one.... Nugent was dogshit, Lloyd was dire and Drinkwater was no better. But King remains, I'm afraid, just an average centre midfielder. He always has been and probably always will be.

When we needed someone in the middle to take charge, to control and to fight to get us back into the game in that second half, King, I'm afraid, again was lacking.

He ain't a bad player, but he's simply an average, Championship centre midfielder.

I think Lansbury looked a class above today. As did Jack Hobbs. Anyone who still feels that we didn't lose a very very good centre back when Sven sold him knows nothing about football.

Cue the insults. I don't care. King has consistently come up short when we really needed him for years.

He's ok, but that's it.

However, in that second half today we were utterly clueless which was not all King's fault.

I'd love to see Matty James get a run of games now

With Knocky suspended v Ipswich I can see him getting a game and us going 4-3-3

So you don't get him?

In your own words he's a superb finisher and gets in the right positions!

Some of his runs off the ball are brilliant, possibly too good as his team mates don't seem to be on the same wave length!

One of the first on the team sheet for me, done it season after season

King consistently makes good decisions on the ball and his reading of the game is generally excellent, and so usually is defensively solid when teams do clever things with the ball. He lacks strength and power, though, and gets pushed around by the 'simple' sides as Forest were today.

That's just his game.

lol  This is why I didn't bother explaining myself in the other thread but I applaud you for your perseverance, so I shall now.

1. People quite often slate him on here which I and many others really don't get.

2. You've kind of shot yourself in the foot here. You've waxed lyrical about his goalscoring ability, yet I'd say that is probably his 3rd best attribute/skill set.

3. Which parts of his game are so poor? He's probably the most complete player we have. Granted he's not the most physical but most people on here have recognised that he has much improved this part of his game and he often compensates for it by being very clever in those kind of duels and often doing enough to hold up the opposition and allow the team to get into shape.

4. As others have said, he'd be the first name on the team sheet in the Prem. I'd argue that him, Kasper and Wes are the 3 most irreplaceable players in the squad.

5. Like I said before, there's no arguement that he could do with being more physical but you've stated that its what YOU want. Not want NP wants which is ultimately the most important thing. Both James and Hammond are capable of performing that role as well.

6. Leadership?! He was captaining us at 21! He's not a shouter but he's a very experienced young man who is quite often having a word with other players. Wes doesn't exactly shout much but would you acuse him of displaying a lack of leadership?

7. I understand why people say he is invisible but this is just plain wrong. Again, because he's not a big powerhouse midfielder, people seem to think that he doesn't do anything. He's got the best footballing brain of any player I've ever seen at Leicester and his off the ball work is second to none. Both offensively and defensively he's always on the move and is often in crucial positions. He holds the opposition up, makes vital interceptions, mops up play, and quickly and sensibly distributes the ball. I was in shock when he sliced that pass out of play at the end of the game because that just doesn't happen.

8. Been over this one before but Liverpool, Villa, Everton, West Brom and this summer Hull, Forest, Palace and Fulham have all expressed an interest in him so he can't be that bad. He's on a sizeable wage, at a club he loves, where he's is going to be priced out of a move because he's that difficult to replace. That season he scored 16, lots of teams wanted him but because we had just been taken over there was no way we were going to sell (Apparently rejected an enquiry around the £6m mark). Since then, he has adpated his game to be a little more defensive, so because he is not flashy, he'll often get overlooked.

He's NOT perfect and it would be lovely if was able to dominate games a bit more, but he is a fine player and in my eyes and probably Pearson's, he is irreplaceable. If you can name me a midfielder as good as King who is attainable the get your cv into the LCFC scouting team!

It made no sense to leave him on when chasing a game. He is undoubtedly the best finisher at the club but he rarely ever gets forward these days, so he's looking less and less like the player we thought he could be between 2009-2011. I've thought for a while that he'd just gone stale but he'd put in a great performance and I'd think again, maybe he needs a change or is he more restricted under Pearson?

I'm probably coming across as a moaner today (sorry) but it doesn't seem like King wants to take responsibility, he's never making purposeful passes which will split a defence or driving at the opposition midfielders. Usually, he is just too 'safe' which is okay when we're winning but when we're losing it's one reason we can't break teams down.

I appreciate what Kingy does off the ball as he occupies space and intercepts quite well but recently he is not even doing that - players just run past him and he offers little resistance.

Hopefully as he matures a bit more as he gets older (it's easy to forget he is 25) he will add some more responsibility to his game because he can be a cracking player at times.

In recent years teams have afforded us less space which I think King has suffered from, if you look at his goals in the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons he was able to burst in the box and score and unfortunate he can't do that anymore.

I do love Kingy though, closest player to being a legend.

When did you last actually watch a game? As in, live watch it?
