Monsell1976 Posted 9 December 2013 Posted 9 December 2013 Absolutely amazed that there are people who aren't bothered about this. Simply stunned. All to their own, for me a game we are likely to lose, in between two massive league games, against two of our main promotion rivals at the minute, for me wrong game at the wrong time.As I said earlier it's about getting through the game without injuries, and a moral damaging defeat, I.e 7 or 8 nil, and some who have said we shouldn't be concern about picking up injuries, and go at it full bloodied, I'm sure if we lost the likes of knockeart for the remainder of the season it would be very damaging to our promotion push. So for me it is what it is, a nice night out for my lad, who hasn't had the pleasure of seeing leicester play a big team, get to hopefully see some of their better players live, and if we do manage to beat them without damaging our promotion push, all the better, if we lose never mind.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 9 December 2013 Posted 9 December 2013 I have a feeling that we'll fudge the Burnley match up somewhat, and Pearson will shake the team up a bit. Unlike 'Udders in the FA cup last year though, it'll actually work in our favour - we'll dump Man City out of the cup, dump on QPR on the Saturday and take a big dump all over the rest of the season. In a good way.
Lionheart Posted 9 December 2013 Posted 9 December 2013 I can assure you Vienna was no picnic for the red star game, and the coach trip to Madrid was horrendous. Take promotion! The wheels on the bus go round and round!

Seriously? 2 games don't change a whole season. We could lose both league games and still win the league. We're in a quarter final against one of the best teams in the world, at home. I will be fuming if Pearson plays a less than full strength side for this. I don't see the point in going if your main wish is to see us get through the game without any injuries.
woddyuk Posted 10 December 2013 Posted 10 December 2013 How can you write off man city game ffs, That and the stoke game will be benchmarks to see if we are ready for the premier league.. Personally I think we will beat Burnley and man city and draw at qpr. So time to practice " you're just a shit man utd" & " just a small town near stockport chants" coyb

As I said all to their own, you obviously are bothered with this cup, but it's all about getting out of this league for me.It's all right saying that we can lose both games in the league, and still be ok, that would be 4 defeats in a row, going into the business end of the season, and for me after we bottled it last season, if a run like that can be avoided, and not start putting doubt in the players minds, and lose any sort of momentum built up so far. So yes I am serious, couldn't give two ****s about this cup

Only then will we know whether we're ready for the Premier League or not. Cup games can be highly misleading. I bet there will be quite a few people on here with good old illusions of grandeur should we get a result against Stoke or even Manchester City.Keep your head on.
yorkie1999 Posted 10 December 2013 Posted 10 December 2013 How about a burnley pre match thread first or a post man city thread.

So are you saying we shouldn't try as hard because we might pick up injuries? Players can pick up injuries from nothing. It happens. You can't sacrifice one game because you might get injured. That's an awful attitude. If Knockaert gets injured, he gets injured. That's life. Besides, Pearson obviously doesn't think he's that important based on the last 2 games You can't go through life thinking about negative what ifs. I won't be that gutted if we lose, but I'll be absolutely ecstatic if we win. And the players should be, too.

I think Pearson might have realised that knockeart is the first name on the team sheet after the last two games .Going onto my point, I'm not saying don't try, but do the same from the previous rounds, don't start playing our full strength squad, and expect them to maintain a high level of performance, as 3 big games in a week, especially if they are high tempo is a lot, and difficult to maintain a high level of performance, and risks injuries when fatigue is involved. What I'm saying is mix it with regulars and fringe players, as he has done early on, so we have plenty left in the tank for the league games, because for me personally it's all about the league, I doubt we will win any cup, and if we do it's a bonus, but the overriding target is promotion, and Pearson knows that. All personal preference, I was lucky to watch the oneil cup runs, and can understand fans wanting any sort of success, but for me the long term future of the club,I.e being in the top flight, is more important than a cup.
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 10 December 2013 Posted 10 December 2013 They are still likely to play Dzeko, Lescott, Jovetic and Richards - all class players that we'll have to compete with so even if they are concentrating on Bayern and Arsenal they have too much in reserve. I think we'll give a good account of ourselves though
Happy Fox Posted 10 December 2013 Posted 10 December 2013 Manchester City have sold out their allocation. http://www.mcfc.co.uk/News/Tickets-and-Travel/2013/December/Leicester-v-City-sold-out
thybluefox Posted 10 December 2013 Posted 10 December 2013 I'll be relatively happy with a good performance, regardless of result. Win, though, and I'll be spaffing everywhere. In terms of the season, Burnley and QPR probably are a little more important. Right now though we need a confidence boost, and a decent performance against Man City could do it. Just hope we bumble through the Burnley game with 3 points before hand.
Poznan34 Posted 10 December 2013 Posted 10 December 2013 So it's a total sellout? Really looking forward to it, reckon we could pull off an upset.
Langston Posted 10 December 2013 Posted 10 December 2013 I had a dream last night that Stevan Jovetic scored a hatful against us. I've no idea if he's even fit after his career ending move.
Bert Posted 10 December 2013 Posted 10 December 2013 This weekends results depend on what teams we both send out.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 10 December 2013 Posted 10 December 2013 Absolutely amazed that there are people who aren't bothered about this. Simply stunned. So am I amazed. What's wrong with some people?
Harry - LCFC Posted 10 December 2013 Posted 10 December 2013 Second string playing against Bayern, same team to walk out against us? (Hart )
Socks Posted 10 December 2013 Posted 10 December 2013 Second string playing against Bayern, same team to walk out against us? (Hart ) hmmm the same second string teams thats just come back from 2-0 down to lead 3-2 at Bayern.....yes please!
theessexfox Posted 10 December 2013 Posted 10 December 2013 The game comes at a horrible time. If we weren't playing Burnley and QPR either side we'd be able to put a strong team out, looks less likely now.
Finn Claw II Posted 10 December 2013 Posted 10 December 2013 My guess at the Man City starting line up Pantilimon Clichey, Lescott, Demichles, RIchards, Silva, Rodwell, Garcia, Milner Dzeko, Jotevic Not a bad reserve side - I'd take a couple of them in Jan....
