ozleicester Posted 11 December 2013 Posted 11 December 2013 The lack of interest by some for the match and the cup(s) in general makes means for me some very interesting questions. Is the chase for premiership status all that really matters, and if so, why? Are cups now just a distraction and is that because most people dont think we can actually win them? There seemed to be a time when the chance of wining the FA cup and to a lesser degree the League cup was the sign of success and people were excited by cup runs, now its a distraction from the "main game" of promotion, why? Given that for the time being, we arent a club in financial danger, we dont live in fear of being sold or dissolved at any moment, why is it that it seems the only REALLY important thing is promotion?

The answer is money. Whatever question you have about what's wrong with our game nowadays rhe answer will always be, whether directly or indirectly, money.

When the club is over 100 million in debt and counting, ok to the owners, the longer we are not promoted, the greater the risk for the long term future of the club. The owners are sticking around for now, but if we continue to fail to get to the premier league and the loss of money continues, leicester become less appealing as an investment, hobby, or whatever reason the owners are here. The one advantage is the owners now own every part of the club, and if or when they have had enough, they will have to sell the club, and to make it appealing to a new owner, they would have to right off a lot of what we as a club owe them. Promotion relieves a lot of these concerns, and increases the chance of balancing the books, were even if we won the cup, yes it would be great, but financially wouldn't make a big difference to the finances, and if winning it has a detrimental effect on promotion, is it worth it ?, again all down to personal preference.
Dan Posted 11 December 2013 Posted 11 December 2013 So am I amazed. What's wrong with some people? I can understand the league taking the long-term priority but for what? To help us actually achieve nights like Tuesday on a regular basis. We've got ourselves into that actual position, I'm stunned that some would happily shun it off. It's not like we're playing a day after the game before. It's a tough run for us but it's not exactly an irregular fixture calendar.

Due to every aspect of the game being obsessed with money and the fact the big money is in the Premier League. Clubs' attitudes towards things eventually reflect on the fans. I'd take winning a cup over promotion, but it doesn't even have to be one or the other.
Devonfox1884 Posted 11 December 2013 Posted 11 December 2013 My guess at the Man City starting line up Pantilimon Clichey, Lescott, Demichles, RIchards, Silva, Rodwell, Garcia, Milner Dzeko, Jotevic Not a bad reserve side - I'd take a couple of them in Jan.... pretty decent, we'd take a couple of them. I don't like to say it, but if we play like we did against wednesday and brighton next tuesday, we could be beat 4 or 5... However, i just don't see that happening, it will be a tight game.
theessexfox Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 They look incredible. Not looking forward to this.
DennisNedry Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 Can't we just forfeit the game? Would rather rest up for QPR. Not bothered by this game at all because: a) We have no chance of winning it - times are different from the late 90s/2000 win. b) Premiership is more important than ever - we need money. If we manage to go up and stay up, that's when you want to focus on the cups. And even then, FA Cup moreso.
Happy Fox Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 With that attitude we might as well give up!, look at Bradford, no one would of predicted they could beat Arsenal anything can happen, maybe the Gods will shine on us!
Devonfox1884 Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 My prediction... 5-2 man city. They will be 5-0 up with 5 mins to go and take pity on us.
MC Prussian Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 They're still better at home than away, so there's a slight chance they'll let us live and not slaughter us at all.
Soup Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 Not looking forward to this game at all.Might even give it a miss now.

Leicesterpool Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 I noticed Man City struggle against teams that like to play direct down the middle, like both Cardiff and Villa. So team for Man City GK: Kasper S RB: R De Laet CB: W Morgan CB: L Moore LB: P Konchesky DM: M Wasilewski CM: D Drinkwater CM: A King AM: A Knockaert ST: D Nugent ST: J Schlupp BENCH: Logan, Miquel, Dyer, Taylor-Fletcher, Vardy, Hammond & James.
steveherbe Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 Just watching manc on motd, they are crap. If they were playing a decent team they wouldnt have scored 6. No worries boys we're as good as in the semis already. (OMG, they are going to kill us)
Bayfox Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 Stick logan in goal and I'll lump on double figures.
SmithyFox12 Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 with Pantilimon playing today, surely Hart will be playing on Tuesday?
TrentFox Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 Stick logan in goal and I'll lump on double figures.i have a terrifying feeling it could be close to that, regardless ! Depends who they select and whether they can be arsed.
Guest ttfn Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 Schmeichel Moore Wasilewski Morgan Konchesky Hammond King James Schlupp Nugent Dyer Lord help us, but that's the team I'd pick to keep RDL, Vardy, Knockaert and Drinkwater fresh for Sat. I'd even be tempted to give Wes a rest. Losing Wood is just a huge blow for this week.
fleckneymike Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 I'd play GK Kasper Schmeichel + Adam Smith RB Ritchie De Laet+ Liam MooreLB Paul Konchesky +Zoumana BakayogoCB Sean St Ledger + Wes Morgan + Ignasi Miquel + Marcin Wasilewski CM Danny Drinkwater + Dean Hammond + Matty James + Andy KingLW Lloyd DyerRW Anthony Knockaert FWJamie Vardy + Jeff Schlupp + Tom Hopper + Gary Taylor-Fletcher + David Nugent + Chris Wood SUBConrad Logan
Devonfox1884 Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 Just get was to go threaten them beforehand, he'll have silva & co quaking in their boots! Apart from toure and pantillimon, they're quite a 'petit' team, could get interesting at set pieces (if knocky actually takes them properly) Realistically, i don't think we will win. My serious prediction is 1-0 leicester half-time, they bring on their big guns they were resting at half time, and they win 3-1. Looking at them today, i would take that tbh.
