Leicesterpool Posted 12 January 2014 Posted 12 January 2014 Liam Moore ain't going nowhere yet, not even Villa! Liam himself isn't in a hurry to leave, neither is the club in a hurry to sell!
Banks Posted 12 January 2014 Posted 12 January 2014 Going to Villa or WBA would be a backwards step, can understand if he moves to Newcastle though. Great player, as he's English, teams should be paying at least 5m if we are to even consider it.
TJB-fox Posted 12 January 2014 Posted 12 January 2014 Just seen a few of those clubs plus Arsenal and Liverpool might want Jamal Lascalles, they can **** off away from Moore and have the trees lad
Xen Posted 12 January 2014 Posted 12 January 2014 Got a fairly long time left on his contract. Playing first team football for the club he supports. U-21 International. Current club has a very good chance at promotion to the top flight. He isn't going anywhere.
Ric Flair Posted 12 January 2014 Posted 12 January 2014 He signed a new deal when he was supposedly being chased by Man United in late 2012 but that was just his agent getting the lad a decent deal. He's probably due a pay rise so we shouldn't assume he'd happily stay without being re-imbursed for it. Hopefully we'll offer him a new deal.
Mack Posted 12 January 2014 Posted 12 January 2014 It might be that he is looking for improved terms with us given his status as a first team regular. I love the lad but lets not forget that it's players who currently hold all the cards in the Football business, and his agent might be on the case as those scummy leaches so often are.
Bryn Posted 12 January 2014 Posted 12 January 2014 If he wants a new deal he can have one as far as I'm concerned, entering the last 18 months of his deal, his performances have gone up, his worth to the team has gone up, he's justified in angling. Obviously more likely to be sorted if we go up as he's not a priority in terms of time remaining.
Jimothy Posted 12 January 2014 Posted 12 January 2014 Can't see him wanting to leave. Especially can't see him wanting to leave to teams like West Brom or Villa, who we could likely pass on the way up. As for Newcastle I think it would be bad move on their part. They drastically need to improve their defence now, not with a young centre back with no top flight experience. Moore is good, has huge potential, but I honestly don't think he'd be an improvement on Taylor or Williamson right now. I think in a few years he'll be twice the player Taylor is, but right now he's not. They could do with signing Lescott.
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 12 January 2014 Posted 12 January 2014 I'd like to see him maintain what he's doing for at least a full season before there's any talk of a 'first team regular contract' or an improved deal. He's been very good for us this season but he still has a fair bit to learn before he's ready to be a nailed on starter for us in The Championship let alone a Premier League player.
Libertine Dream Posted 12 January 2014 Posted 12 January 2014 Can we sort out new deals for the players with 6 months left on their contract before even entertaining new contracts for players like Moore and Drinkwater who have 18 months?

So i think you are badly wrong.
iamafox Posted 12 January 2014 Posted 12 January 2014 We've got to keep Moore. He's still learning the game at a young age and the likelihood is that he will not get first team football no matter which PL team signs him. That would disrupt his development as a player.
GingerrrFox Posted 12 January 2014 Posted 12 January 2014 If he waits and stays in the Prem with us, he will go to one of the top clubs in the Premiership. Lets be honest he's still only 20 and is part of one of the best defence's in the Championship. To me he will go to a Spurs/Arsenal/Liverpool/Manchester United later in his career.
Dan Posted 12 January 2014 Posted 12 January 2014 Hope we don't give him a new deal yet unless we really are pinned into a corner by one of these clubs. I'm sorry but what message does it send out to agents if we just hand out a new deal every single time a player is linked with someone new? I'm a big Moore fan but lets not make exceptions.

wolfgang amadeus Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 Hope he stays, if he continues learning from Morgan and improving he could easily be club captain in 5 years I reckon

To be honest now is the time we should be talking to him anyway. Most top end clubs start to talk with about 18 months to go. He's a very good young player we should be building around for the future. Or would you rather wait till this time nxt year and be in the situation we are in with the rest of the squad. you don't see man u chelski arsehole letting there top players go to the end of a contract before talking they start at 18 months even longer some times.

Surely the most sensible thing to do is wait until we know where we'll be next year before engaging in negotiations.
ithuriel Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 Not long ago signed a contract and there are more urgent contract talks to negotiate, end of season business in my opinion.

sylofox Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 Surely the most sensible thing to do is wait until we know where we'll be next year before engaging in negotiations. Why it's called clauses if we are in the prem you get x if not y. Do you think the out of contract players are going to get 3 year contracts or whatever if we have gone up in the summer. Yes they will with clauses if you get relegated your wage goes down. Not only that young Liam is worth good money thats why four prem sides are sniffing about. So get him on a long contract and he's worth more. All this contract shite is wait till the summer when we know where we will be nxt season. Has nothing to do with that has more to do with the fact 5 or 6 players are not going to be offered anything. The club know they will be pissed if they offer others a contract so they are playing a dangerous balancing act. They could end up pissing off the players they really want as well. If our club can't work out a budget for nxt season now and word contracts correctly no wonder we got in such a fvcking state with sven. It's not like we are sat thinking what division are we going to be in nxt season prem champs or div 1 we can safely say we wont go down.
Sooper Steve's shin Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 I am guessing this is all speculation, but in all honesty those clubs mentioned are at least 3 to 5 years ahead of where we are today (even more if we balls up promotion this year). As much as we'd like to think we are bigger than West Brom and Swansea, they are now fairly well-established Premiership teams who can sign players/managers who are way out of our league. Villa and Newcastle are more traditional and longer established "big clubs" - more likely to be challenging for cups/Europe in the near future than facing relegation. Both have had issues in recent years but, even so, you can't really deny that. Even as a Leicester fan, I can see that if I was in Moore's position and the club agreed a fee with any of those then he would be foolish from a career point of view to turn it down on the basis of loyalty. If we didn't get promotion or went up and straight down, he may not get this chance of a move again. At this point in time, you would probably say on balance he would (and should) stay with us over any of the bottom five in the Prem (Fulham, West Ham, Sunderland, Cardiff, Palace) as we probably have a better chance of playing Premier League football next season than them. Unfortunately, I think anyone above that could pick off any of our players unless it was obvious they would be coming in as pure backup.
MrSpaM Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 If Will Hughes is worth 15 million, Liam's worth at least 20 million judging on the weekends performance.
harpendenfox Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 There were bound to be a lot of scouts in on Friday night. Both teams doing well, and there were no other games on, so they'll have wanted to take in the action
