cjslcfc Posted 26 March 2014 Posted 26 March 2014 Technically 9 draws is all we need. One would be against QPR so that would mean we get 9 points and QPR 22 if they win the rest of their games. With our goal difference being vastly superior I would doubt that even in this hypothetical situation they would swing goal difference enough to be above us. Great times ahead
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 26 March 2014 Posted 26 March 2014 Still thinking 90 ish points will get us over the line
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 26 March 2014 Posted 26 March 2014 3 wins from our final 9 games gives us 91 points that's assuming we lose the other 6 (very unlikely) that would leave QPR needing 23 points from 8 games to overhaul us, meaning they have to win every game. 3 wins from 9, that's all.
Pegosteve Posted 26 March 2014 Posted 26 March 2014 3 wins from our final 9 games gives us 91 points that's assuming we lose the other 6 (very unlikely) that would leave QPR needing 23 points from 8 games to overhaul us, meaning they have to win every game. 3 wins from 9, that's all. Couldn't agree more! All the average points for the season, last 6 games and last 9 games still have us getting over 100 points. To get to 90 we only have to get 0.89 per game, QPR need 2.63! Christ we have only lost 5 all season we are not going to lose 6 of the last 9!! If we do they all want sacking and we will never get out of this league!!
BigWesMorgan Posted 28 March 2014 Posted 28 March 2014 As you know we need 12 point to secure promotion. But what of the chances of us needing all the 12 points? That means that QPR/Derby etc... Will have to win 10 games in a row! Plus we are playing QPR at home. If QPR and Derby lose 1 game and we beat QPR at home then that's 6 Points Max with them not dropping points until the end of the season. How many do you think is needed?
StanSP Posted 28 March 2014 Posted 28 March 2014 Let's just focus on one game at a time. It's been discussed to death how many points are needed. I know it's natural to think ahead about promotion, but it's more sensible to think about each game as it comes. Let's focus on tomorrow and then the game in hand at Wigan. Maybe then we'll get a better picture, but for now tomorrow is the biggest thing that should be on our minds!
pleatout Posted 29 March 2014 Posted 29 March 2014 Over the last 25 years the points gained by the team finishing 2nd Points 92 91 x 3 90 89 x 2 88 x 2 87 x 3 86 x 2 85 84 83 x 2 82 80 x 2 79 x 4 So after todays win we'd have been promoted in 11 of the last 25 seasons. The other stat to come out of this is that no team has needed 93 points to get promoted and if Blackpool hang on at QPR, we won't this season either.
Super_horns Posted 29 March 2014 Posted 29 March 2014 We'll beat Burnley and QPR for you.. Mind you we've probably used up our away goals today...
Paulmot Posted 29 March 2014 Posted 29 March 2014 We'll beat Burnley and QPR for you.. Mind you we've probably used up our away goals today... you seem to score well away from home Never held any grudge over last season. If we had won in the same circumstances we would have celebrated just the same.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 29 March 2014 Posted 29 March 2014 you seem to score well away from home Never held any grudge over last season. If we had won in the same circumstances we would have celebrated just the same. Absolutely but I doubt we would be claiming it the greatest moment and have our mascot playing it out before the game
Stuliasz Posted 29 March 2014 Posted 29 March 2014 So 6 points required unofficially with our hugely superior goal difference, 7 required mathematically.
Munshi Posted 29 March 2014 Posted 29 March 2014 Or, with our superior goal difference, if we go on to beat Wigan, we could all but clinch it against Sheffield Wednesday on Friday, that night is going to be amazing.
Happy Fox Posted 29 March 2014 Posted 29 March 2014 We will get promotion next weekend cannot see QPR beating Bournemouth away.
Super_horns Posted 29 March 2014 Posted 29 March 2014 you seem to score well away from home That was our first win on the road since October believe it or not - hence our mid-table position.
whoareyaaa Posted 29 March 2014 Posted 29 March 2014 7 Points and we are in the Premier League. Amazing.
Tuna Posted 29 March 2014 Posted 29 March 2014 We can do it this week, QPR away at Bournemouth next weekend, Derby at Middlesbrough fancy both to drop points there. Could be as little as 1 win needed.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 29 March 2014 Posted 29 March 2014 7 Points and we are in the Premier League. Our goal difference means it will be just six
Fox92 Posted 29 March 2014 Posted 29 March 2014 7 Points and we are in the Premier League. Just sit back and say it to yourself. Doesn't it sound good! We've waited a long time, and watched a lot of shite, for this lads!
SystonFox Posted 29 March 2014 Posted 29 March 2014 7 pts from 8 games? Depending on other results we could be celebrating next Saturday? Omg
whoareyaaa Posted 29 March 2014 Posted 29 March 2014 Its a shame we play on the Friday because we could win it on Saturday if QPR/Derby drop points.
