Kitchandro Posted 22 January 2014 Posted 22 January 2014 It's not really, their two clubs of similar stature and their 20 minutes apart, I wouldn't say it's forced at all. What absolute waffle. mmm waffles. Of course it's forced, they seem to think it's the biggest derby in English football. They go on about each other more than they do themselves. They play for a trophy. To quote Bilo, An. Actual. Trophy. It's embarrassing. They seem to actually respect each other. It really isn't very convincing. There's no true hate there, they associate themselves with each other too much. The fact they are 20 minutes away from each other doesn't make what I have said any less true. They weren't of similar stature for many years, and they weren't each others main rivals. If it wasn't for Brian Clough there is absolutely no way they'd be each others main rivals in this day and age. I think that much is very obvious.
GingerrrFox Posted 22 January 2014 Posted 22 January 2014 We don't care about Derby Because they don't care about us All we care about is Leicester City.

They're about as close to each other as two cities can get they're practically touching each other that's pretty much the biggest contributor to who is your local rival, clue in title, local rival, Obviously the Clough history add's the extra dynamic to it but there was a reason Derby fans we're so miffed about Clough agreeing to become manager of their biggest rivals which sparked the whole thing in the first place...emphasis on, biggest rivals. In any case even if you're right it still wouldn't make it forced it'd just be a part of the history between the two clubs, color it any way you want it's a big game they aren't very found of each other the occasions always sell out, you just sound like a bitter Leicester fan. Although agreed the trophy is cringe worthy.
LCFC FOX Posted 22 January 2014 Posted 22 January 2014 Fvcking Derby? I can understand how Forest and Leeds are bigger than us but Derby? No chance
foxes_rule1978 Posted 22 January 2014 Posted 22 January 2014 I love looking down and laughing at the Derby
sylofox Posted 22 January 2014 Posted 22 January 2014 Who gives a fvck just let them get on with it. Panto season is about to end and they will be evicted to the real world. Oh and when they look up we are top. lol
Leicesterpool Posted 22 January 2014 Posted 22 January 2014 We don't care about Derby Because they don't care about us All we care about is Leicester City. Didn't I suggest that chant?
Finnaldo Posted 22 January 2014 Posted 22 January 2014 To be fair to Kitch the Leicester-Foreat Derby was the biggest East Midlands derby pre-Clough.
Manwell Pablo Posted 22 January 2014 Posted 22 January 2014 To be fair to Kitch the Leicester-Foreat Derby was the biggest East Midlands derby pre-Clough. How the bloody hell do you know you're 16. I will admit I don't actually know it's well before my time. Where's DavieG sure he will know.
Dan Posted 22 January 2014 Posted 22 January 2014 Most of those comments don't bother me. The usual bigged up rival talk and I'm sure some similar comments would be made by leicester fans about derby. It's just the way a rivalry is. But that last comment. What a pile of shit. Anything good with us is bought in. The way I see it players in any squad could fall into 5 categories. A) academy graduate B) young player bought in relatively cheap (for their potential and/or future fees) or older players bought in for smaller fees (<£1mil). C) free transfers. D) larger transfer fee players (> £1mil). E) loanees So our squad falls into; A) Andy King, Liam Moore, Jeff Schlupp, Tom Hopper, Conrad Logan (5) B) Ritchie De Laet, Danny Drinkwater, Dean Hammond, Matty James, Jamie Vardy, Anthony Knockaert, Riyad Mahrez, Chris Wood. (8) C) Lloyd Dyer, Zoumana Bakayogo, GTF, Marcin Wasilewski, Kevin Phillips, David Nugent (6) D) Kasper Schmeichel, Paul Konchesky, Wes Morgan, SSL, Waghorn. (5) E) Ignasi Miquel (1) Even bringing our loaned out player won't support that Derby fan's comment as 3 were free transfer, 1 was just less than £1mil and Adam Smith is an academy product. Comparing this to their squad; A) Jeff Hendrick, Mark O'Brien, Will Hughes, Mason Bennent (4) B) Craig Forsyth, Craig Bryson, Paul Coutts, Jaime Ward, Johnny Russell, Ben Davies, Jake Buxton, Adam Legzdins, James Bailey, Simon Dawkins, James O'Connor (11) C) Lee Grant, Chris Martin, Saul Deeny, John Eustace, Valentin Gjokaj, Michael Hoganson (6) D) Shaun Barker, Richard Keogh, Connor Sammon (3) E) Zak Whitbread, Andre Wisdom, Patrick Bamford, Michael Keane (4 - Max anyway) So it becomes clear the only stand out difference is the occasional large buy on our part. We have 1 more academy graduate in our first team squad so that whole "they but everyone" thing is hypocritical given we have more of our own players in the squad. We both have taken equal advantage of the free transfer market while based on this season they use the loan market more frequently. I think to say we have bought players like Danny Drinwater or Matty James is general as we have paid a fee (which could be a fraction of what they are worth) and taken their development forward over 2-3 years of hard work since Pearson has returned. While derby could say some of their fees are generally smaller they still have the occasional big buy even if under £1mil (eg. Russell and Dawkins had £500k plus fees). Whilst some of our fees are slightly large (roughly £250k excess of Derby's fee) their squad is marginally bigger so the fees even out slightly. This is a pattern that should trend across most of the 'big' sides in the division, like QPR, Forest, Bolton and Blackburn. There is practically no difference so comments alluding to our "big spending leicester" name tag piss me off so much given how far we have come under NP and have spent less than numerous teams, including derby, this season. Sorry for the long post. Needed that off my chest - "everything good about them is bought" - good joke. They're just living off one absolute horror show from us which no doubt all of those bitter (particularly Derby & Forest fans) towards us will remind us of and tell us how we should be going up whilst spending so much.

Fox92 Posted 22 January 2014 Posted 22 January 2014 I think the clue in a local derby is the word local. Derby and Nottingham is 14 miles apart. Regardless of how big the derby was (I'm not old enough to now), I understand (I've read a bit about it) it was a rivalry and the fact Clough moved across to Nottingham Forest added to the rivalry. Especially considering how successful he was. The trophy I don't get that, bit stupid, they should just enjoy having him because he's one of the greatest managers ever. The only thing I miss about supporting Leicester is a big rivalry, and deep down I'm sure you're all the same. You know, a rivalry like Birmingham/Villa that the whole of football knows about. But football is football and everyone has those teams they dislike.
Manwell Pablo Posted 22 January 2014 Posted 22 January 2014 There's a little bit more info here: http://www.wsc.co.uk/the-archive/30-Clubs/4924-horrible-history There is absolutely nothing in there I didn't already know and absolutely nothing in there about Derby taking over our role as Forest's bitter rivals, so thanks for that that's 5 minutes of my life I am never getting back.

Touché. I look forward to being reminded of it again. We can all enjoy correcting them once more.

I can't comment for Davie, however before Clough it was always Leicester and Forest. Maybe its worth watching the Dammed United film for a brief history lesson. Derby were a tinpot nothing club before then. Having said that they did win some trophies in their early history.
FuriousFox46 Posted 22 January 2014 Posted 22 January 2014 It's just in keeping with football fans in general, envy is not a pleasant thing. Their "we don't care" stance is slightly annoying as having been a Leicester fan who went to every game 23 years ago and beyond I know full well they do, maybe as I live in North West Leicestershire it's a little different but there we are. This doesn't really prove that though, this purely because we are 5 points clear at the top. We're getting stick for exactly the same reason Cardiff were getting stick on here last season, we're in danger of walking away with the division and other teams don't like it. Especially those like Derby who are in the chasing pack. No one cared that Cardiff we're Welsh and changed their kit colour etc until they were top, no one cared Watford loaned players until they were in the play offs. And you wouldn't have found many people bringing 2002/2003 (although I'd love to know how ending up broke is cheating) up and calling us big spenders before the start of the season......purely because we're doing well. It's sad that, honestly. All that is is two clubs who rightly or wrongly (wrongly) think they're a big club and a sleeping giant looking down on a, in their opinion smaller club nearby, who have been outperforming both for the last 20 or so years. It's actually a sad little superiority complex from both clubs. If you remember, Derby cared about us when we were last in the Premier League with them, it was only when they were reunited with Forest that they adopted their pathetic tirade of superiority. Like I say, two clubs trying to convince themselves that they're still relevant by a) disregarding a recently more successful neighbour as beneath them, b) playing each other for an actual trophy and c) doing things along the lines of describing their stadiums as 'world famous'. I'm sure there are some Forest and Derby fans who don't care about us as there are some Leicester fans who feel apathetic towards them but the majority do they just refuse to deign to call us their rivals. It's a sad reflection on them. They're both usually keen to buddy up with each other to score points against us anyway. It's a very odd situation.

This is the exact same situation with Middlesbrough and Sunderland/Newcastle. Apparently in a game vs them the game means nothing, but if they win they sure brag about it, but if they lose they're like who cares about Boro, I'm guessing that's a bit what it's like for Leicester when you play Forest/Derby? Also whenever we're isolated in a division with either the mackems of the mags they sure take the rivalry seriously, but as soon as they're in the same league again they start pretending the game vs us doesn't matter
A fox for life Posted 22 January 2014 Posted 22 January 2014 We're All On Our Own, We're All On Our Own, We're Leicester City and We're All On Our ooooooooooooooooooooooown
Jakemoore Posted 22 January 2014 Posted 22 January 2014 Aww bless em! What a bunch of cry babies! I don't actually understand what NP has done that could have wronged so many of them so badly! And it's not nugents fault that he scores against them so regularly! Bunch of bloody losers, sheep shagging joke of a club living off their former glories!
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 22 January 2014 Posted 22 January 2014 Notice how nobody had a bad word to say about us between 2005-08?? Hmmm wonder why??
Corky Posted 22 January 2014 Posted 22 January 2014 The Pearson dislike is bizarre. If he managed someone else I doubt he'd offend me, in a similar way to Chris Hughton and Kenny Jackett, doesn't moan on endlessly about things and does his stuff in a professional manner. Hardly a media whore either.
