hackneyfox Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 Yes I can't stand them either Yes this should be under Football General But this could so easily have been us. Good afternoon gents (and any ladies on board),Apologies for crashing your forum but we're after the support of fans up and down the country. You might be aware of or situation...owned by SISU (or whatever they call themselves this week), we're currently playing 'home' games 34 miles from the Ricoh. The owners of the Ricoh (a set up called ACL - owned half by a charity and half by Coventry City Council) have said they'll let us play there rent free for 3 years whilst we build a new stadium. Our owners, for reasons unbeknown to anyone sensible, have said no to this. Plans to build a new stadium were due to be with us but as yet, nothing. The owners say they're in active discussions with 2 boroughs about land for a new stadium. Fans have contacted all local boroughs and none say there's any discussions going on. And there's no gaurantee that any new stadium will be built in Coventry. All a bit of a mess and unfortunately, the fans suffer.Cov fans are boycotting home games this season...our attendances are our lowest ever recorded, bar some crappy cup game against Millwall in the 80's. Away though, our fans are travelling strong...we took 7,500 to MK Dons just before Xmas....as many as home fans on that day and you might have seen our protests during BT Sports recent coverage of our cup game away at arsenal.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nHKTX34HnGQWe're started an online petition to try and raise 100,000 signatures in order to try and enforce a House of Commons Select Committee grilling of all parties involved in our downfall (and there's a few). We hope that this won't only shed light on who is to blame for our situation, but provide some transparency for the powers the rule the game, to effectively manage club ownership and stop situations like ours, Hulls, Cardiffs, Lutons, Rangers etc etc.Saints fans have been great to us over the past few years....clubs of relatively similar stature with you narrowly (luckily) missing out on SISU ownership and instead getting Markus Liebherr to invest. Please could you sign the attached petition? It will take 2 minutes, you won't get junk mail and you'll hopefully assist with a better environment for fans of football.http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/59884We need about 400 signatures from every professional club in England and Scotland as well as 50,000 from our fans. Please do share. Thanks all,
Bayfox Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 Nope Sorry, having seen everyones reaction to our administration and our owners writing off Debt, which isn't anything the supporters can control. I'm afraid, I have decided to take the same approach to all other clubs. Harsh tho it maybe on the supporters, but Cov are just one club I really wouldn't miss.
LCFC FOX Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 Is this copied and pastes from somewhere? Anyway I hope Cov do sort it out and remain in Cov. But I also hope they remain in League one
hackneyfox Posted 4 February 2014 Author Posted 4 February 2014 Is this copied and pastes from somewhere? Anyway I hope Cov do sort it out and remain in Cov. But I also hope they remain in League one Yes it's been cut and pasted from a request by a diagonal on Bentleys Roof. I'm more than happy for them to continue in the 3rd, for me they could drop another division, I just think they should be playing in co* and for that reason alone I posted this and signed the petition. What reaction from other fans to our owners writing off the debt? Have you got any links?
Babylon Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 What reaction from other fans to our owners writing off the debt?Have you got any links? He's talking administration, hard to find the links now. But lets just say, the general tone was "Good I hope they go to the wall" and generally laughing at what happened to us. Which then turned into you "You cheating xxxxxxx's, once we looked like we'd get promotion".

Not going to jeer at them (as they did to us) about it as I know what it's like but certainly not going out of my way to help them.

Corky Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 I like how they refuse to travel 34 miles to "home" games and want solidarity yet take 7,500 to a club who originated 70 miles away from their current base. They'll return soon enough.
Jon the Hat Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 Signed. This could as easily have happened to us with our ownership history.
Hugo Sanchez Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 Their attendance is down by about 6000. Hardly dramatic. Why they built such a big stadium is beyond me. Should of stayed at Highfield Rd. They're get about 18,000 tops for big games anyway. Think they're massive with their away attendance. Hope they rot in league 1.
Steven Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 Schadenfreude. I do not feel predisposed to help those that wallowed in schadenfreude when they could have lent a hand.

But lets just say, the general tone was "Good I hope they go to the wall" and generally laughing at what happened to us. Which then turned into you "You cheating xxxxxxx's, once we looked like we'd get promotion". From memory, the negative reaction to our promotion after we went into administration was sparked by Neil Walnutt, and he only did that after Sheff U (who came third, 11 points behind us) were beaten in the playoffs. The problem is that sh!t sticks if it is thrown hard enough, and ever since, we've had fans of other clubs saying (in all seriousness) that we bought our way to promotion with other people's money. Which is bollocks. On the Cov issue, I've signed the petition, because - despite the attitude of a pig-ignorant minority of their fans - I think football clubs should play in their own community. I'd say the same if it were Derby or Forest. On the other hand, I am quite happy for them to remain in the third division, and even for them to be relegated from there.
hairy Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 This could be any club in the Championship and below. The fact its Coventry should not make a difference. What they are asking for is for the good of the fans and communities up and down the country. Some of you need to get a grip and move on what has been said in the past.
AndWhat? They'll return soon enough. Was thinking the same thing. I'll sign though, just cause I don't like to see any fans get screwed over by rich twats that don't give a shit about the club, the city or the fans.
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 They've completely deserted their club. Why should I have to try and save it for them?
The Horse's Mouth Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 I'm not going to sign it and it's not because their fans repel me. It's because signing this will accomplish nothing.
hackneyfox Posted 4 February 2014 Author Posted 4 February 2014 They've completely deserted their club. Why should I have to try and save it for them? They've hardly deserted the club, they've chosen to boycott home games.
Fox92 Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 Don't care who said what about us, two wrongs don't make a right and it's not nice to see any football club in a complete mess. I'll sign. And if you read it, it says petition against aspects such as ticket prices.
Leicesterpool Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 I'm sorry for your demise but I somehow don't think you'd do the same for us, apart from laugh. I haven't forgotten how Cov fans laughed when Nuneaton Boro went bust!
Voll Blau Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 Signed, but the taking thousands to MK ****** is weird.

Matt Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 All I am saying is and what I don't get is when we went through problems, us and (I believe) Bradford were the only 2 teams in the leagues who voted against a points deduction, embargos and other things that disciplined teams for such troubles, these other teams who voted for the disciplines who have since experienced troubles shot themselves in the foot, they voted for them, they've got them, what goes around comes around, they made their beds they can lie in them. Tough. Also, until Coventry help themselves - That goes for fans as much as the owners, I don't see why anyone else should stick up for them or help them. Boycott, my arse, whether there is a boycott or not their support is awful, since they moved to the Ricoh they've had no fans, were they boycotting then? Because I saw no publicity towards a boycott, there support was simply non-existant and can be blamed towards many of their problems. Whilst I don't agree with what they owners have done at Coventry they support or 'former' support need to take alot of blame. The city/club are looking to build a new stadium back in Coventry, about 2 miles away from the Ricoh, this new proposal is arguably even more out of the City, arguably in the wrong directions away from the Ricoh, with no travel links, so how will this generate more of a better fanbase? Infact the proprosed grounds are probably nearer Bedworth/Nuneaton that Coventry, What make them think loads of fans come out the woodwork and come running back to support the club? How will they fund this when they can't pay rent on the Ricoh? Which leads me onto another point, self pitying Coventry fans are trying to make out 'awww poor Coventry, being chucked out the Ricoh, why should we pay rent?' Ok, so they rent might be high, the club signed the contract, why should the owners of the Ricoh be out of pocket because of your poor finances, if it was a person not paying rent on a house they'd be chucked out.

Tough. What I don't get is people claim they hate us for supposedly bringing about points deductions. Yet they have a go at us for not getting a points deduction. Which is it? Either they agree with the points deductions or they don't. I'm just not quite sure where the hate comes from. If anything, we stopped other clubs from 'cheating' and that's what they're complaining about, right?
