Babylon Posted 6 August 2014 Posted 6 August 2014 could it be that NP is bluffing/playing down the move, the links certainly arent going away if anything there stronger Errr I'd imagine the continuing links are idiots who know feck all and are just repeating previous stuff. NP was pretty clear on this one. People say he keeps stuff close to his chest, yes he does. But I can't remember him basically saying it's a load of rubbish and then that person signing. If there is interest he trots out the "I don't talk about other peoples players", if there isn't he quite often rules them out... as he did here. Would be surprised to see this happen after what he said.
CosbehFox Posted 6 August 2014 Author Posted 6 August 2014 I said it six weeks ago, Vichai's boast about the dollars he wants to spend means all sorts of agents will use our name to get a deal elsewhere. It appears in this case Slimani is more likely to join Trabzonspor....who surprise, surprise signed Cardozo.
johnny the fox Posted 7 August 2014 Posted 7 August 2014 http://sportwitness.ning.com/forum/topics/portuguese-newspaper-say-leicester-city-boss-not-being-entirely-h How dare they!
AKCJ Posted 7 August 2014 Posted 7 August 2014 Didn't Nige just say we hadn't bid? Doesn't mean he's not interested. Also means that he's not willing to spill information about a player he doesn't manage like a total tithead. Harry, we're looking at you.
Fox 4 Life Posted 7 August 2014 Posted 7 August 2014 I think striker is about the only position on the pitch we have sufficient depth. The focus should be on the defense/midfield
Fox 4 Life Posted 7 August 2014 Posted 7 August 2014 Portuguese newspaper O Jogo disagree. On Thursday they claim that despite what Pearson has said there has been contact and a proposal put forward for the Algerian forward. That offer was just €7m which O Jogo say isn't close to being enough for Sporting. It wasn't just the amount offered which irritated the Portuguese club, the way Leicester City wanted to pay any transfer fee also caused concern. Portuguese clubs would rather receive transfer fees all in one go, rather than spread out over the period of a player's contract. Liga Sagres doesn't have the huge amounts of cash seen in the Premier League and therefore they need every penny. Someone is clearly being economical with the truth and of course it's impossible to know who. However, whilst it would be strange for Pearson to deny something so heavily and know he's wrong, it would be perhaps odder for a Portuguese newspaper to make something up about Leicester City. With all due respect to the Premier League club, the Foxes hardly create waves in Portugal. Perhaps the truth is somewhere in the middle. Leicester City made an approach, but not an official bid, and Sporting Lisbon told them where to go. Hence the deal as it stands being dead in the water http://sportwitness.ning.com/forum/topics/portuguese-newspaper-say-leicester-city-boss-not-being-entirely-h

jayfox26 Posted 7 August 2014 Posted 7 August 2014 Did Old Man Steptoe offer them Vardy, Matty James, Knockheart and 30,000 curled up ham sandwiches? hahaha. I think this is exactly what happened!
Nick Posted 10 August 2014 Posted 10 August 2014 As suspected we are expected to be making another punt for Slimani this week: http://translate.google.co.uk/translate?hl=en&sl=pt&u=http://www.supersporting.net/ingleses-e-turcos-vao-voltar-por-slimani/&prev=/search%3Fq%3DSlimani%26client%3Dsafari%26sa%3DX%26rls%3Den%26biw%3D1575%26bih%3D952%26tbs%3Dqdr:h
Kitchandro Posted 10 August 2014 Posted 10 August 2014 I think striker is about the only position on the pitch we have sufficient depth. The focus should be on the defense/midfield We have a bunch of strikers but I'm not sure how good they are. I wouldn't say no to a better quality one.
GingerrrFox Posted 12 August 2014 Posted 12 August 2014 Slimani is still our number 1 target and if a deal can't be made then we will go for Deeney.
Rocky Dennis Posted 12 August 2014 Posted 12 August 2014 Slimani is still our number 1 target and if a deal can't be made then we will go for Deeney. Thanks for the info but unless you are Nige, Walshy, Terry Wotsit or Susan Whelan I fail to see how you could possibly know this, care to elaborate?
notnow john Posted 12 August 2014 Posted 12 August 2014 I think striker is about the only position on the pitch we have sufficient depth. The focus should be on the defense/midfield Spot on,couple of injuries/suspensions in defence would create a crisis.
65RosesFox Posted 12 August 2014 Posted 12 August 2014 Spot on,couple of injuries/suspensions in defence would create a crisis. you could say that for every position pretty much from the likely starting XI keeper - logan would need to be used centre mid - king and at the minute hammond would be starting wingers - we would have one
ramadaone Posted 12 August 2014 Posted 12 August 2014 Thanks for the info but unless you are Nige, Walshy, Terry Wotsit or Susan Whelan I fail to see how you could possibly know this, care to elaborate? Certainly a lot closer to them than you are that's for sure ...
ronnup Posted 12 August 2014 Posted 12 August 2014 Slimani is still our number 1 target and if a deal can't be made then we will go for Deeney. Great news. I really hope we push this and tell Watford to do one.
Robin JD Popley Posted 12 August 2014 Posted 12 August 2014 "Apparently" he has now been put in their reserves after a fall out with Sporting.
GingerrrFox Posted 12 August 2014 Posted 12 August 2014 "Apparently" he has now been put in their reserves after a fall out with Sporting. He wants to leave, he thought everything was sorted and now Sporting keep moving the goal posts regarding a fee.
cjslcfc Posted 12 August 2014 Posted 12 August 2014 He wants to leave, he thought everything was sorted and now Sporting keep moving the goal posts regarding a fee. I would love to get him. He looked great at the world cup, a very physical and quite pacey player. A strikeforce of Vardy, Nugent, Ulloa and Slimani pleases me a lot. Those goals will keep us up IMO. What sort of fee we has been banded about?
Babylon Posted 12 August 2014 Posted 12 August 2014 Interesting development if we are still interested.

They are playing hard ball and I get the feeling they want him to hand in a transfer request similar to what's going on with Marcos Rojo. Our last bid was around €11 million.

Our last bid was around €11 million. I suppose if the player wants to move then he may have to do the same. Doesn't that get rid of loyalty bonuses though? We need young Riyad to have a word in his ear. He may have even already done that!
PWII Posted 12 August 2014 Posted 12 August 2014 His current club being awkward over fee! Very frustrating!
