bovril Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 Sarah Millican is OK at a stretch but I cannot understand why people think Miranda Kerr (or Mrs Brown of Mrs Browns Boys for that matter) are funny. Lowest common denominator of comedy... Fit as fvck though.
Soar Fox Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 How strange that this thread is about comedians and the advert at the bottom of this page is about Alan Davies comedian show dates.

RonnieTodger Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 Is it any wonder when they're forced upon us now? Panel shows have to contain at least one female now. Pathetic.
RonnieTodger Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 Is it any wonder when they're forced upon us now? Panel shows have to contain at least one female now. Pathetic. I'd hate Jo Brand to forced upon me actually.
Carl the Llama Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 Who th fvck is paying money to see Miranda fvcking "look at me I'm large and I can fall over snort" Hart???
Mark_w Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 Miranda Hart, what on earth is wrong with people? Who pays money to see her? In fact, why is she considered a comedian?
Webbo Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 I've got one for cosmetic surgery Have you got one of those, easily hacked into, web cams?
StanSP Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 Sarah Millican is boring - she loves a joke about eating or cake. Miranda Hart is mind-numbingly unfunny. Jo Brand is the worst out there though in my opinion. I couldn't name a female comedian who strikes me as being as entertaining as any male comedian out there right now. Maybe Nina Conti but that'd be pushing it.
Rincewind Posted 3 October 2014 Posted 3 October 2014 I've got one for cosmetic surgery I've just got donate to FoxesTalk.

The worst thing is that there are a lot of female comedians/actresses who dont get the recognition they deserve because they aren't deemed to be ugly or fat which is apparently the prerequisite for being funny. For example, the girls from Smack The Pony. It's almost like the defence of Miranda Hart etc is 'You dont like them because they're ugly/fat'. No mate, its because they arent funny...
ithuriel Posted 3 October 2014 Posted 3 October 2014 Must be having just gotten up but for some reason I was thinking female comics as in the reading kind
kingcarr21 Posted 3 October 2014 Posted 3 October 2014 Im going to go see John Richardson at De Montfort next week has anybody seen him live? Find him pretty funny on Countdown. I dont find any female comedian funny. Then again i only see or hear them on Mock the week when they generally get to say about 2 jokes in the whole episode.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 3 October 2014 Posted 3 October 2014 They're not all terrible - Katherine Ryan has her moments, Sarah Silverman isn't terrible, Kristen Schaal doesn't make me want to top myself. All from across the Atlantic, though. Sarah Millican is OK at a stretch but I cannot understand why people think Miranda Kerr (or Mrs Brown of Mrs Browns Boys for that matter) are funny. Lowest common denominator of comedy... I think you're confusing Miranda Kerr and Miranda Hart, here pal. Not that there's much difference. Unfunny British female comic Miranda Hart: Australian Victoria's Secret Angel and widely regarded by many as the most beautiful woman on the planet, Miranda Kerr:
brockmyster Posted 3 October 2014 Posted 3 October 2014 All the good female comics are the lesser known ones, how people find sarah milligan or even miranda hart funny I do not know, I'd find it funny watching paint dry.

Saw Jon Richardson live before he was famous, he was brilliant. Haven't really seen much of his recent stand-up but he plays along with his persona very well and had the whole audience laughing throughout his set
Durnerz Posted 3 October 2014 Posted 3 October 2014 No female comediennes do it for me sadly, Jo Brand on the bake off extra slice programme is very good though. Lee Evans always puts on a good show as does Michael McIntyre but humour is different for everyone in the end.
Guest MattP Posted 3 October 2014 Posted 3 October 2014 Used to find Jo Brand very funny. Very rarely find any new age female comedians funny at all, often cringe at them on the BBC and it's obvious a lot of them are there for equality reasons rather than ability.
harpendenfox Posted 3 October 2014 Posted 3 October 2014 Tend to agree, but take a look at Nina Conti https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3vBYHvG2wE&index=3&list=PLvm8MvFC9ikAiC9t2JjRU8HzDYMXeySKh
Bellend Sebastian Posted 3 October 2014 Posted 3 October 2014 I'm bemused why people are so focused on what they perceive to be shit female comedians - it's not as if a huge proportion of male comedians are brilliant. I'm not convinced the ratio of shit/good is any different for the women than the men, it's just there are fewer women comedians in the first place
Captain... Posted 3 October 2014 Posted 3 October 2014 All the good female comics are the lesser known ones, how people find sarah milligan or even miranda hart funny I do not know, I'd find it funny watching paint dry. Fixed it for you, look at the best male and female comics, they are all pretty shit, in my opinion, most of them are popular because they are generic and inoffensive and appeal to the lowest common denominator. It's the same with popular music, not everyone wants to be challenged and would rather just have familiar and comfortable. Nothing wrong with that, but I'm not going to spend £30 to go and see them live. Personally I rate the likes of Stewart Lee, Adam Buxton, Mark Thomas (he's still going and still very funny), Dave Gorman.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 3 October 2014 Posted 3 October 2014 Dave Gorman. Do you watch Modern Life is Goodish on Dave? Brilliant stuff

Definitely agree with Dave Gorman, clever comedy at its best imo

Wouldn't be the first time I blamed alcohol for such a contrast in looks...
