Jakemoore Posted 27 October 2014 Posted 27 October 2014 I've heard a few people say "I wish we still had Lloyd Dyer in our side" So I wonder how many people would take him back today if we could?
Devonfox1884 Posted 27 October 2014 Posted 27 October 2014 I would, until the end of this season. That being said, I'm sure we'll strengthen in January, so there's no need to worry.
benpicko Posted 27 October 2014 Posted 27 October 2014 He's better than Schlupp and has always performed when we've played sides from the Premier League so yes of course I would
Wes Posted 27 October 2014 Posted 27 October 2014 No point in going back now, just wish he stayed in the first place. His pace would have been handy in the last 20mins
AyewJoking Posted 27 October 2014 Posted 27 October 2014 Mistake by Pearson not giving him a 2 year deal. Dyer would have won us points at this level for sure but I think I was ok with the decision at the time, silly me.
Russell sprout Posted 27 October 2014 Posted 27 October 2014 Mistake by Pearson not giving him a 2 year deal. Dyer would have won us points at this level for sure but I think I was ok with the decision at the time, silly me. It's as much a mistake on dyer half aswell though not taking the 1 year, rather than warm watfords bench,I agree he would have been great for the last 20 mins of games.
cc_star Posted 27 October 2014 Posted 27 October 2014 Sticks out wide giving us width, tracks back covering full back as well as anyone. His pace was the best thing about us in all our meetings with Prem sides before promotion. The 50:30:20 stats of attacks down the right, centre & left show that we're really missing him or not replacing him & that's a fact
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 27 October 2014 Posted 27 October 2014 Yep, and he hasn't been replaced meaning we are imbalanced. Schlupp isn't good enough in any position for me,
cc_star Posted 27 October 2014 Posted 27 October 2014 I would, until the end of this season. That being said, I'm sure we'll strengthen in January, so there's no need to worry. Strengthening in January when you're in the bottom 3 is very different to strengthening in January when your about 10-14th
surrifox Posted 27 October 2014 Posted 27 October 2014 he's not even starting or playing regularly for Twatford (mind you neither is Deeney!!!!!!!!) come to that
suffolk fox Posted 27 October 2014 Posted 27 October 2014 Errrrrrrrrrrrrrr. No, no, no, and finally No.
David Lowe Posted 27 October 2014 Posted 27 October 2014 A lot of our top performers from last season are not looking so good at the moment - I've seen calls for players like Drinkwater, Schmeichel and De Laet to be dropped...so there is no reason to think Dyer would do any better. Yes his pace may have added something to the team but we will never know.
MattGamble92 Posted 27 October 2014 Posted 27 October 2014 The amount of times he skinned a player, even premier league opposition players for us, is reason enough to have kept him. Never mind the fact it was his best ever season and be was in the best condition of his career. You could argue that not replacing him with a player with genuine pace is the problem. Its just very hard to find someone at the level of Dyer with the pace he possessed. Not any that wouldn't command a huge fee anyway
Fox92 Posted 27 October 2014 Posted 27 October 2014 No. His pace was an asset, that's all, he lacked technical ability.
Guest Sharpe's Fox Posted 27 October 2014 Posted 27 October 2014 We really miss those trademark runs where he would pick it up on the left wing and drive into the box. Defenders thought he would get to the byline or cut inside but he never did anything clever like that, he'd just get as close to the goal as he could then blast it into the roof of the net or pull it back. He was an unstoppable force at times and I think Schlupp doesn't come close to replacing him.
J.Lisemore Posted 27 October 2014 Posted 27 October 2014 Far better than Schlupp and yes we do miss him.
VLC86 Posted 27 October 2014 Posted 27 October 2014 100%, We need to start a petition to bring the 3 legged road runner back from Grotford asap!
EGBFitness Posted 27 October 2014 Posted 27 October 2014 Mentioned this a few weeks ago that we missed him due to thinking Schlupp was the new Dyer. I don't think we necessarily miss him, we do have quality in our side and probably could acquire someone in Jan that provide us with what we need, don't forget we've got the development of Lawrence to look forward to who could potentially play a part sometime in the near future? The way how were set up and style of play we miss Dyer, we still seem like we look for his width and speed on the wing (maybe this is why we only look to the right side now with RDL?)
Babylon Posted 27 October 2014 Posted 27 October 2014 Depends which Dyer that is? The Dyer of the first half of the season... Yes.. The Dyer in the second half of last season... not in a million years as he was woeful. Short memories.
6ups 6downs 2 cups Posted 27 October 2014 Posted 27 October 2014 Bizarrely he would have probably have played more games for us this season in tbe PL than he has for Watford in the Championship had stayed.
ScouseFox Posted 27 October 2014 Posted 27 October 2014 any player who played a crucial part last year and hasn't been replaced this year was obviously going to be missed
MooseBreath Posted 27 October 2014 Posted 27 October 2014 Much, much better LW than Schlupp and a considerably better LW than Vardy. The jury is still out on Albrighton but they are different types of player. Dyer could have offered us a different type of attacking option at a relatively tiny cost. Letting him go was an obvious error.
foxfanazer Posted 27 October 2014 Posted 27 October 2014 He'd be getting just as much stick as everybody else if he was still here. I loved Lloyd and wish we'd have kept him but let's be honest he dod have his limitations
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 27 October 2014 Posted 27 October 2014 Why are we still talking about Dyer? He doesn't play for us any more. Let's just accept that fact, and get over it.
