KFS Posted 17 January 2015 Posted 17 January 2015 Please can we just sign a pissing left back. Paul Konchesky is not good enough. This.
lgfualol Posted 17 January 2015 Posted 17 January 2015 We should all donate a few quid to give to Pearson for a new LB. We complained about not having a new one in July. WHERE THE **** IS OUR NEW LB FOR GOODNESS SAKE NIGEL
GingerrrFox Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 Seeing as we are struggling with creating chances from our midfield, not to mention they are all finding it hard to stay injury free and out of suspension. Would anyone take a gamble on Ravel Morrison? Free to leave West Ham and apparently only on £15k wages. If Nigel could get him firing he could help us no end IMO
Dan Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 I think Ravel Morrison would be a sign of desperation but unfortunately... watching our performance yesterday makes me think we maybe tick that box. Is Morrison genuinely that good?

If Nigel could get him firing he could help us no end IMO I was thinking the same yesterday, think it's about done deal to Lazio though. If Nige got him and Morrison had no distractions and wanted to do a shift here he would be a quality signing and make the difference BUT he is a loose cannon which is why no one wants to gamble in UK. For all his good he has a lot of distractions which is why Man Utd got rid and now West Ham. Think this is why he is trying to give it a shot abroad
Munshi Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 I think Ravel Morrison would be a sign of desperation but unfortunately... watching our performance yesterday makes me think we maybe tick that box. Is Morrison genuinely that good? Ferguson told Big Sam 'if you can control this lad, he'll be one of the best players you've ever had' He does have attitude problems but at the moment I really would take him, drives at the defence from midfield and after watching yesterday performance we really didn't do that at all. How many times did Drinkwater get the ball, turn around and play it back to the defence, it was shocking. Atleast with someone like Morrison you'd not know what to expect when he gets the ball. Gerrim in
muzzy1981 Posted 19 January 2015 Posted 19 January 2015 Feels like we still are missing that elusive defensive midfielder, Hammond adds the balance we need but can't rely on all season. James and Camby are just not that sort of player for me. A Neil Lennon please nige
st albans fox Posted 19 January 2015 Posted 19 January 2015 Just concerned we aren't being linked with anyone It's clear our squad is short on numbers.
psychonaut Posted 19 January 2015 Posted 19 January 2015 Just concerned we aren't being linked with anyone It's clear our squad is short on numbers. Short on quality. I wouldnt take not being linked as a sign that we're not actively trying to do deals. For the club the less publicity around our targets/activity the better.
BlueJoe Posted 19 January 2015 Posted 19 January 2015 Based on the fact that Tom Lawrence went out on loan then came into the first team I'm now expecting Callum Elder LB (currently at Mansfield on Loan till 8th Feb) and Jack Barmby Winger/Forward (on loan at Rotherham until 8th Feb) to be the only other additions to the first team this month.
FoxinNotts Posted 19 January 2015 Posted 19 January 2015 We invariably play 4-4-1-1. In this system an out-and-out holding midfielder is required and a box-2-box player is required. We have two holding midfielders IMO (James & Hammond), Cambiasso is an alrounder, but at his age can only be used sparingly in a two. Drinky & King are players to be used in a three IMO. What we need is a Charlie Adam type player. Could he be bought for the right price? I also think we need Nowrich's Olsson at LB, perhaps send GTF out on loan, then we're set.
Socks Posted 19 January 2015 Posted 19 January 2015 its all gone quiet on the transfer market for us.... which is worrying we need a LB, CB, 2 midfielders still if we are going to stay up
SecretPro Posted 19 January 2015 Posted 19 January 2015 I think Ravel Morrison would be a sign of desperation but unfortunately... watching our performance yesterday makes me think we maybe tick that box. Is Morrison genuinely that good? Definitely been for talks. I know that for a 100% fact. Don't really know what to make of it.
CloudFox Posted 19 January 2015 Posted 19 January 2015 Definitely been for talks. I know that for a 100% fact. Don't really know what to make of it. Source? Morrison would be an interesting addition, but aside from the non-football related issues, how would that see us line up? I thought he was an Attacking Midfielder, but if we already want Kramaric playing off Ulloa...where does he fit in?
Adster Posted 19 January 2015 Posted 19 January 2015 Not Morrison surely. Pearson wouldn't be able to handle his ego.

ButI refer to summer talks and a possible recent trip to the county again.
Scotch Posted 19 January 2015 Posted 19 January 2015 I think we should have a look at Celtic for players. Here is what I think of a few potential signings..... Van Dijk; Obvious one. Easy to see why. Good, big strong player whith his best years ahead of him. Would also bring pace to our defence.all of this means of course that we would have to pay about £7/8m for him with £30k wages at least. I would be all over it. Calum McGregor;Young, quick, exciting young prospect. Just signed a new deal so would need to pay for him and I'm not sure how he compares to Lawrence as I've not saw much of the latter. We should definitely keep an eye on him. Charlie Mulgrew; Perfect for us. Would be a great signing for us. In his late twenties, can play LCB,LB and CDM. Has played at international and European level and not looked out of place. Ability wide, he is better than Konchesky at LB,around the same level as Moore at CB and prob a bit better than Hammond at CDM. Cherry on the cake is that he has a good left foot and is a danger from set plays. Don't see com costing much more than £3m and around 20k in wages. I really hope they are looking at him, although doubt it. I'm not saying we will/should sign all these players but they are worth a look.
Dan Posted 19 January 2015 Posted 19 January 2015 Mulgrew is a superb shout. Versatile and a set piece taker.

Not convinced James is an out and out DM like Hammond, he likes to get forward which is fine but Hammond just sits protecting the defence. I agree re. Charlie Adam type player, Camby, James and Drink all too similar for my liking.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 19 January 2015 Posted 19 January 2015 Wouldn't Morrison know half the lads at City anyway? It's always gonna be a gamble going in for him but perhaps coming into a club where he can feel a little more settled would help.
Stadt Posted 19 January 2015 Posted 19 January 2015 Mulgrew seems like he's a bit more physical than most of our team, versatile too. I've probably seen him play but can't remember but he can't be worse than Konch.
Gio Posted 19 January 2015 Posted 19 January 2015 They're after Olsson too from Norwich, another one I wouldn't mind here. I honestly find it ridiculous we have not been interested in him. Should have gone after him in summer. He's a decent left back, has prem experience and within our price range. Unfortunately now if swansea are after him there would be only one winner for his signature (if we actually were interested, which we don't seem to be)
